Results for the new batch are finally out. GIM is all ready to welcome its new batch of 2011-2013. I hope this will be a new beginning for GIM, and students at GIM will leave no stone unturned to be where it deserves to be.
Seniors plz give us d details on d various facilities at d campus...which all indoor/outdoor sports are there...how frequently is the swimming pool used?..considering the climate is very humid in Goa,does that create some problems?also what kind of interaction level is there b/w PGP1 nd PGP2 students?

We have facilities for Volleyball, Badminton , TT, Carom, a ground for Football and Cricket etc and then beaches pe beach volleyvall ;)
We people havent got the chance to avail swimming facilities as yet but it should be there by the time you people reach there.
About PGP1 and PGP2 interaction i think you can guess from PG itself, you will get all support from your senior batch and you will have to provide same to your junior batch. The atmosphere is friendly and we live here as a big GIM FAMILY.
We do have Gym at the GIM sanquelim campus ...right ??
etching to post in this thread.......the anticipation of an exciting and treacherous path ahead fills me with anxiety but yet having read about all the wonderful people.... the traditions and the camraderie they shared with each other gives me a fillip to embrace the future with open arms.........

Is there a gym on campus?
Well i m not qualified enough to answer this question. I passed out from the old campus, which had a gym. So by process of extrapolation ( the process we all MBAs love), i m sure the new campus would hv a bigger, better and more equipment filled gym.
Now that i hv gone back into the memory lane, here i go.
the old campus gym was actually in a building which was 403yrs old. Yes it was the oldest structure in the campus, which itself was 300yrs old. The gym had almost all the equipment needed to keep and build a body. It had 3 windows from which we could see the river mandovi, which itself was hardly 10m from the gym.
The only problem with the gym was casa. Now casa is a small eatery which serves snacks like samosa, meals, tea, bread pakoras, cold drinks and all. From one of the windows, we cud see casa's tables and ppl enjoying the evening/morning snacks. so the normal routine was hit the gym, listen to some good music, sweat it out, adore urself in the mirror and end it with pakoras and coke
. Now when ppl ask why i gained so much weight in GIM, i always its bcoz of the gym!!

Thanks Nitiksh.. very good description of the old campus! Its must have been quite an experience to study and stay there, the structure has always amazed me when I used to pass by that stretch as a kid, a 19th century hospital transformed into one of India's leading B-Schools...spectacular! Living there must have been like an adventure in itself, with the river and ferry ride et all (reminds me of the Adventures of The Famous Five-Enid Blyton) 😃

yes we have a state-run gymnasium in sanquelim with indoor badminton courts...and the news is that a swimming pool which is already constructed, is going to be opened anytime soon!

While reading all these posts,i just had a thought,its has been around 3 weeks we r in GIM,but it feels as if we always belonged here..........Jaggu and casa seems to b the places where u grew as a child............and assignments seems as if u were borned to do them.......
Well here i m,trying to give a detail data of how a day in GIM works
7:45am:Alarm goes off........u switch it off and sleep again
7:50am:Ur roomie or some1 from ur hostel comes to ur room and wakes u up(practical example group work)
7:51am:u yawn
and cruse ur frnd for waking u up7:52am:u realize its already late and u thank ur frnd for waking u up in time
7:55am:u run to loo and find that its already occupied but some how u manage to take a bath
8:25am:5 min to go for class and u hvnt had ur breakfast,u may hv to go to the class widout food.......
U do a quick cost-benefit analysis 4 it and just ask for a simple bread-butter
8:31am:u are standing in front of the class,now its upto ur luck

2:40am:u r abt to start ur bike,Aditya,tanvi,sheery,ashwin,Dua, Sriki and PJ and few other are ready to leave for FIDALGO......
3:00am: u r in fidalgo and u eat like a hippo

@7figure. . . .If I remember a senior saying, the students will be allotted Double occupancy in the first year and in the second year, they will be provided by an option to shift in single occupancy room. .. . . .

@7figure: the single occupancy rooms are roughly about 75% the size of that of double occupancy rooms. but as omiey07 mentioned that in the first year one has to go for double occupancy room and (s)he can choose for a single room in his/her second year.....
