WARNING - This post does not serve any purpose if you wanna know about life in GIM...but might give u an insight into the kind of bonds u form here !!
------------------------------------------------------------------
I saw in some movie that when sailors are drowning in the north sea...
A voice calls to them...and a hand reaches for them and pulls them out of doom.
Myth or legend or reality.... nobody knows.
But I know of a legend, a mythical reality...the voice that called to us...a hand that reached us when we had reached the nadir situation in Mecca...
When all seemed lost and everything beyond repair..only one voice rang through the air...
"I'll handle it"
And this voice alone was enough for us to leave all the troubles behind and head for our liesurely pursuits...
This voice is that of Srikanth Balasubramanian...
You already know this charachter if you have read my GIM Diaries. If you havent, please go back and read.
Where else would we find a troubleshooter par excellence, who can dance like a fiend and when confronted the most dreaded state police since the Gestapo, keep a straight face and inform them that his papers are in Tamilnadu more than 1100 kms away !!
Where would mecca find a guy who keeps a straight face despite bank officers snoozing right in front of him and sponsor or no sponsor...spends a fortune at LOB in celebration of the "effort"...
Me - Sriky,do we deserve to eat in LOB? We havent raised a dime yet!!??
Sriki - Dude, this a celebration for the fact that we are trying...
Me - But we seem in trouble...will we get enough sponsors?
Sriki - Dont worry I will handle it !!
Where else would you find a freind who takes your word so seriously that when you pull a prank spreading a rumour about his engagement...goes ahead and gets engaged so that your word does not go in vain...
Guys, lets put our hands together for the master of processes...
The Victorious rider of the most eco freindly paperless vehicle in Tamilnadu
For the guy who has promised to give half his fortune to start the course Patient process Management course in GIM (When, nobody knows...have patience)...
Congratulations for the beginning of the most important process in your life !!
The process of Family !!!
May your life rock just like your moves in F2!!
May lord bring you the same joys that you brought to all your friends and most of all the mecca family !!

Today Life @GIM has completed 5 YEARS !!
History has changed its course...many ties during the last 5 years...
A recession came and went...
Osama was alive back then...
Hardly few people...knew anyone...who had heard....of a site...called Facebook...
A Raja was a free man...and so was Kalmadi...and Kanimozi...
People could still afford a flat in Mumbai :)
a lot of red water has passed under the panjim bridge since the fateful day aspire started this thread...
lets keep the spirit nurtured thorugh generations of GIMites forever bright and alive !!
Back from a lovely weekend at home. Haven't been so eager to get back to something for a long time now. We start off with an Ice Breaker session... but it broke everything else other then the ice

The afternoon session was a lot of fun for my roommate and myself... after a nice afternoon siesta thinking that we were too smart not to attend the session on RFID

"The results of the test are out" is someones post on FB..

The sessions thought the week were pretty fine despite the fact that we had more of G.K. than quant.

The first week was full of meeting new people having diverse backgrounds, hailing from different parts of the country having varied interests. One good thing that I did observe was everyone had a different opinion about everything we spoke about, may it be the college, the faculty, and of course the girls.:D
As i walked down the road into the village of Poriem

Incessant rains, not so tasty food in the mess has made life a little messy for a few people around, but I guess as time passes by things would improve else we would have got used to the way things are
Cheers,
Trevor A.Vaz
GIM 2011 -2013
We also realized that our dear professor had studied in 22 different schools and 4 different colleges, he belonged to a family of bankers and CAs , he knew most of the best minds in the country, his father was a person who got the fastest promotions in the history of SBI, he thought people right from the level of school going students, post graduates, teachers and navy personneluffff.. and it just didnt end there.. the list goes on and on and on which finally makes me believe that he is one unique intelligent person, jack of all trades, gives medical practitioners a run for their money, multilingual, multi-talented, multi god damn who knows what personality I have come across in Goa
The only thing which I did appreciate and should appreciate were his teaching skills and his knowledge about mathematics which he rightfully boasted about every time he wrote something new on d blackboard or green board (GIM mein green board hai).
Cheers,

Prof. Kamat!
Hey Gimians ..
This is the thread which I always wanted
Edited by Oxymoron: To maintain consistency in thread titles for "Life@Bschool " series
OMG Snape.. 5 long years...and I still remember every one bit.. Was sitting in the corner seat in the computer lab, hadn't got the laptops by then, had named the thread as "The Good Life @GIM" which was promptly edited by the Mod.
I was so excited on creating history, that I accidentally posted with a single liner!
Like I have been saying after seeing every new batch.. "GIM is in very safe hands"
ATB !

Yeh jo world hai na, isme do tarah ke log rehte hai, ek jo JCC hote hai aur ek jo JCC hona chahte hai. The past week here has seen a flurry of activities, right from the beginning of arrival of PGP2's to the jostle for being JCC (which still hasn't peaked by the ways). For the uninitiated, let me try to define the term JCC, but before that, I would like to confess that I still am to fully understand the true meaning of the term. But the adventurous soul that I am, I would give it a shot anyways!!!! ;)
From what I have heard , gathered, concluded, testified, re-testified,deliberated, the term JCC is usually used to describe a b-school "fuccha" or rather say a "buccha" (clever....huh!!) who with stars in his eyes tries extremely hard to score some brownie points during his initial stay in a b school while also trying simultaneously to make a contribution towards the betterment of his fellow inmates as well as the institute itself by losing his hair, appetite, sleep, fat content in the process.
Welll.....enough of shitbull, as i said earlier, with the arrival of PGP2's our campus for the first time is totally hara bhara with the load of around of 500 people. You can sense the buzz around the campus now.And I must say with the promptness and ease with which took reign really impressed me be it the functioning of canteen to minor hostel issues. It was truly great to see their helpfulness and active interest in matters at hand.
The week started off with the customary SAC and Placement committee GBMs. We were briefed on the rules and regulations, do's and dont's and lots of other interesting things. That really upped the ante and every other day we had some club's presentation or various other engagements. And now all is left to wrankle your brains about the choice of clubs. atleast for the time being.
We also had the famous "Ribandar Talks" with Mr. Ashank Desai which was very informative and extremely interesting. Its quite amusing to hear to listen to "Ribandar" talks sitting here in sanquelim. Its like few of those things such as "panama hats are from ecuador not panama". Anyways I like the term "Ribandar Talks", it somehow makes me feel more connected to that old yellow building which has seen the genesis of numerous careers.
But till now it has been all good, atleast we are looking at the shape of things to come. In between all these chaos and people running for collecting club membership fee, some running to get dates for fresher's party.....yes we have to ask out a senior on a date!!!!!! People are working real hard to present something on midsummer's night. We all have already our hands full.....I am scared to think of the day when the term formally starts for us.
Till that day arrives as they say in mozambique "world going fetching oil, you having fun" or something like that.....you get the idea!!!!!
From this year we also have a mandatory CSR course that too a three credit course, which I believe is something very unique and is an awesome concept in itself. We are in the process of listening to various NGOs and then we will have to chose one project among them. Really looking forward to it!!!!
But untill then, I still have to figure out which club to join, get hold of philip kotler and his cronies, a visit to tito's, prepare for midsummers night, face the music at freshers night..........phew!!!!!(panting panting panting!!!!).You see, life before a b-school :"formally" starts is something which you have to take full advantage of.........and I have still a week left!!!! 😃 :)
P.s. we had a PDP session with our seniors in the canteen, which was super fun and very "enlightening" in every sense :)
Later,
Abhishek
P.p.s. Congrats aspire sir, severus snape and all the GIM pagalguy fraternity on completing 5 years!!!! Hope we cross a lot many milestone!!!! 😃
The "Mid Summers night" @ GIM just rocked. It was the first event where the PGP1s showcased their talents to the GIM fraternity. Each performance was thoroughly entertaining and the crowd was on their toes throughout the event.
From Dance to Drama, Mimicry to Musical acts, Salsa to Singing. The night became shorter and with awesome musical performances at 3:30 am by PGP2s, the ambiance got spiritual. Without even realizing, the fun filled night transformed into early morning. I had heard that nights are very short in a B-School, today I realized it.
But "4 Baj gaye lekin party abhi baki hai" !!! We had to see the Sunrise before sleeping now. Sitting in the hostel we again had musical performances. The Enthusiasm was never ending. Special mention goes for "RaZzMaTaz" (a student driven events organizing club), for all their efforts in making the Mid Night Summers event a success. The GIMians are greatly excited for the forthcoming events after this grand success.
Finally, listening to the traditional GIM song, I realized that I am a proud GIMian...!!!!!!!

Umang Trivedi

Hi Guys,
please note that we call our insti as G I M pronounced "jee eye em". So in keeping with that tradition we have an unwritten rule of not calling ourselves GIMians because it brings in the "jim" which we want to avoid.
For a long time we refer to a student as GIMite as in granite !! Lets keep it that way.
Please take care to refer to urself as GIMites. Its an identity that has long been estabilished but will be wiped out if we dont reinforce it till the time its concrete.
Regards
Snape
PS - Razzmaatzz is NOT a events club !! Its a "Cultural Club" of GIM 😃
It was raining heavily in Sanquelim but GIM was not drenched....because the best was yet to come. There was a massive build up for the day and as the clock stuck 9 in the evening the Multi Purpose Hall started to roar.
As the PGP1s performed one after the other, the crazinesss started to creep in. Every bathroom singer became Enrique and Every feet tapper was better than Michael Jackson. While some of the performances mesmerised the audience and found people dumbstruck, many others were greeted by cheers which were louder than the loudspeaker.
They say a swimming pool is under construction in GIM...but after watching this pool of talent comprising of singers, dancers, actors, musicians
who needs the swimming pool anyways.By the time this carnival got over, It was 3:30 in the morning and everyone was as fresh as a daisy.
Cheers to All!!!!!
Before I begin, I wanted to Share the Ecstatic feeling that I am Experiencing On Finally getting the Blue Bar under my Username which says "GIM Goa"
Now Moving on to Serious Things ..:, I , being such an ardent follower of this thread, Decided to take a note From Snape's "GIM Diaries" and Write my Experiences or rather GIM's Experiences through my eyes Under the name
"GIM Times"..... And What better day for the inception of my GIM Times than the 3rd of july which is the last day before our Term 1 officially Kicks off !!!
GIM Times I 3-July-2011
MiD-SumMeRs NiGhT : A Success
The Week Gone by had lots of Ingredients to make the Life@GIM a Rocking Experience for All of us here on Campus.. Specially PGP1s. The Whole week Was Dedicated to Mid-Summers Preparation and Boy !!! What Dedication Shown by PGP1s.... They Really worked very very hard to make the even a very successful one....
The Show Started at 9:00 pm and ended somewhere around 4:00am With a brilliant performance by a PGP2 when her Song left everyone wanting for more......
Kudos To PGP1s and A big Thank you to PGP2s and Specially Razzmatazz for organizing the Mid-Summers in such a Fabulous way....
But the Party Didnot End Here.... After arriving at the hostel, The PARTY went on till Wee hours in the morning.... Many People Didnot Sleep the whole night.... And Carried on to the next day with the same Fervor.
Foundation Course Comes to an END !!! Term I Starts
For All those who thought GIM is all about SUN, SAND, Beaches and Bikini Clad Gori babes, (I mean, ofcourse they are integral part :w00t:), But Our term Starts tomorrow and We already have our marketing groups assigned and Reading Assignments to finish before we enter Prof. Nirmalya bandopadhyay's class for Marketing Management - I. Not only that But he has already specified the Reading assignments and Case study for the entire Week
.
No wonder, he has been talked very highly among the PGP2s as a teacher and We have been advised to learn as much from him as possible :
Big-BANG birthday's
Yet another Interesting feature of GIM is the way Birthdays are being celebrated. Ever since the First Week at GIM, when people were still getting used to the place and the people around , Birthdays were celebrated with Same Exhilaration.
The Common rooms in the hostel were decorated and music systems were arranged , People were bombed with Multicasts for the INVITE and then a Huge gathering of people huddle together to cheer for a guy they might or might not even know !!!!
Its Just Amazing ...... :cheerio:
Fresher's Party.... The unique Concept at GIM
Don't get misguided by the Headline.... Its not the Fresher's Party that is a unique concept at GIM but the Fact that All the PGP1 guys had to ask a PGP2 girl out for a date and the PGP1 girls had to ask a PGP2 guy out......
I, for one, among many others , have to live without a date because of the numbers of girls But I aint complaining.... I shall be partying with some very amazing friends that I have made here at GIM.....
The Date shall be followed by a fresher party at a Discotheque... Eh... Some perks of studying at an Ivy School In GOA........
And all this when the PGP1 Guys are still checking out the girls and Vice-versa....In the words of a our Operation Research prof, There will be atleast 20 couples by the end of the Course out of which 10 will get married......
Stats Play a role Everywhere .... :w00t::w00t::w00t:
Phew, Enough of reporting.... I should get back to Kotler for tomorrow's Marketing Management-I class.....
Engineering mein kabhi Class start hone se pehle kya, Exam start hone ke pehle bhi padhai nahin ki..... Pata nahin MBA aur kya kya karayega ....

Hahaha...ab jab itne saal nikaal hi lye toh kyon bekaar adat kharaab karte ho? Kahin top vop karne ka sapna toh nahi paal liye tumne??
Agar life me aisi koi hang ups nahi hai toh nishchint hoke life ke maze lo.
MBA me fail hone ke liye itna zyada talent chahiye ki woh sabme nahi hota 😛
"I have called three girls for the presentation, now I want one boy to come and give presentation ! ! ".
That statement by the professor persuaded all the boys in the class to go hiding. Finally, the professor was able to find one scapegoat and slowly other boys started raising their head.
It has been three days since the course started and we have already started building our skills to find places in the classroom where the professor cannot find us. Conceptual concepts are very important for a management student to study as they help a manager to deal with adverse situation which in this case is professor looking for "someone" to present "something".
The assignments and presentations have started flowing simultaneously with various club selections. With lush green mountains and clouds trapped amidst them, the ambiance of the campus is exotic. I am sure that when one stares at the mountains early in the morning, he will not be able to hold his smile back.
But "man proposes and God disposes". A poor nature lover is not able to admire the beauty of the nature as he had skipped reading the mail a day ago which asked him to prepare a case study and present in the class. So he tries to prepare after waking up before 15 minutes prior to the lecture and the professor notices this "well dressed" student and gives him the adorable job of presenting the case study.
After 10 minutes of talking "common sense", he concludes the presentation which satisfies the "delight need" of the professor. Cursing his friends who forced him to play "NFS" till 4 am in the morning, he makes a commitment to wake up early next day, just to break it.
The lectures end for the day and the disheartened poor soul goes to grab a tea to get revitalized. The captivating drizzle and "garam chai" in the lap of mother nature, makes him feel good. He slowly heads towards his room and takes a little nap which would energize him to play "NFS" whole night and again miss the early morning nature beauty and gain "admiration" by the professor.
This is what we call "Life @ GIM"
"July 1 is the 182nd day of the year (183rd in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar. There are 183 days remaining until the end of the year. The end of this day marks the halfway point of a leap year."
Now, why did i write that?? If you googlify 1st July.......you get to know a lot of things like Hong Kong reverted to Chinese rule, Carl Lewis was born on this day, independence of Burundi, birth of Walkman, first gay pride march in England, Delhi belly released....viagara viagra (oops.....i meant etc etc.....)
But what Google will not tell you is that on this day somewhere in the misty mountains, in the ancient land of Sanquelim (Sakhalim) there was an explosion, an uncontrolled detonation of raw talent, charisma and showmanship.
The occasion was Midsummers Night organised by the PGP2 for welcoming us i.e. PGP1 and what an eventful night it was!!!!!
We danced and drank with Sharukh, Katrina , JLo and .........damn!!!
Ok...I made up that last line. But i assure you some of the performances were really extraordinary. People just stood there gawking, mesmerised as the night unfolded itself. But before I go on and on about the amazing event organised by our very own "Razzies"(not the "golden raspberry" oscars!!!) . I must harp on the fact that the event marked end of our foundation course and the official beginning of the term. Well....all i can say is that it was fun while it lasted but we are geared up for the ardous task ahead.....aye aye!
Coming back to the midsummer's night, the stage was set for an exhilarating night and the promise was delivered to the core. Some of the performances were truly amazing and left everyone shouting "encore". The date concept was truly a "hit", but of course there were some "misses" as well ;)
What was amazing to see was the camaraderie shown by both the batches in the organizing the event and in making the event a grand success. It was truly a fitting start to what I hope would be an eventful two years here at Goa. Also not to forget some of the PGP 2 talent was also displayed and I must say it was really out of this world.
I started to write this post five days back but I was so hard pressed for time after the course started that I got time today only to finish this . Although the "marketing mania" is still haunting me. But that episode needs to be told separately.
Its almost three days since our class started and it feels like somebody has upturned the whole Great wall of China on me. Assignments, case studies, group discussions.......arrrrgh!!!!!!! But as i said some stories need time and a sane mind, both of which desert me for the time being.
Not to end on a somber note, I have already scourged the length and breadth of panjim till now and am completely in love with the narrow roads of Goa. As one of my friend remarked, you sometimes pinch yourself walking on these lanes that are you really studying in Goa??? And then you see familiar faces acknowledging your presence, reassuring you that" Dude........this is GIM......you are here", you let a sigh of relief and then again start dreaming " Man........am one lucky --------------"( fill in the blanks as per your sensibilities- PG 13) 😃 😃 :)
Later,
Thanks to Shadydivus...I am reliving my early days of GIM !!
I scoured the streets of Panjim on foot...in search of a store that sold Mountain Dew !!
This is a time of your life Abhishek and I am glad ure saving it for ever on this thread. Three years from now, when your in deeper shit in the corporate world, these writings of yours will bring you great solace.
Looking forward to more from you and rest of the puy very able puy gang !!

It has been three days since the course started and we have already started building our skills to find places in the classroom where the professor cannot find us. Conceptual concepts are very important for a management student to study as they help a manager to deal with adverse situation which in this case is professor looking for "someone" to present "something".
Too good man !!
That feeling...when you have no frigging idea what was to be presented...some kind soul in the group knew and came with the PPT...
And now the professor want "just one person" from the group to come and "summarise" the "findings" and "recommendations" of the group...
So the only person safe is the guy/girl who made the PPT...rest dont even know how many slides are there in that PPT, let alone have an idea whats INSIDE THEM !!
The feeling can be compared to that of Kalia and those two other dudes from Sholay when they had Gabbar Singh sticking a revolver up their asses and playing that totally twisted version of Russian Roullette !!
And then finally the trigger is pulled and its YOU...
You go...open the slide...
and do what MBAs do best.
START BULLSHITTING.
Gradually you read the first slide and shoot.
You are lucky if you have some one else changing the slides for you.
You say,"Next slide please...." and pretend to take a dep breath before showering those pearls of enlightenment on the assembles crowd...
But in reality you are reading what the f*** is written on the slide through the corner of your eye.
If the slide is cluttered...and you can't make any head or tale of whats there...you pretend to have a coughing attack...so that you can read and take in the data while you are coughing..!!!
And finally you find your rhythm, you start bullshitting with elan.
Halfway through the presentation you say things like," we found that...we observed that...and we recommend that"
In fact mny favourite ploy was to bloody disagree with what was written in the PPT. Id say even though my groups opinion is on this slide, my personal opinion is completely different...
all of a sudden someone would become interested in my opinion...and Id bullshit even more !!
And finally the most beautiful slide would appear....no its a not a sldie with the pic of zarine khan without a bikini...
Its Thank you !!
Claps are sounded and your whole group comes down into the well to answer any other questions...
The cavalry is here...you'll live another day !!
Long Live Presentations !!!
Three years from now, when your in deeper shit in the corporate world, these writings of yours will bring you great solace.
Sitting through a long drab call, awaiting my turn to present, been here since 6:30 in the morning, answering questions in between, all I can say is..this thread does not just provide "great solace" it provides "Inner Peace"... This is sheer awesomeness
Monsoons and Biking in Goa...
well it was such a thing to die for, and for the first time in my life on a highway to South Goa, did I truly realise this quintessentially MBA concept of "give and Take"...
When you ride a bike and pierce through the crisp grass scented goan air, you feel the wind through your hair...its gives you a feeling of being in paradise.
You gun your bike a little bit more...the gust is stronger, your hairl blows messily...you feel even better..
There comes a time when you just want to keep gunning your bike so that you can feel the wind hitting your face...and faster the bike goes, adrenalin resulting from the exhiliration courses through your system making the whole thing a narcotic experience...
But then there comes a point when the feeling of exhiliration is replaced by a fear of death...because you are not wearing a helmet(or else the whole point is defeated), one mistake and its the end.
So you let go...you slow down...
But another stretch of open road and you start longing for that feeling again...you want your hit...your fix of this narcotic which is an eclectic cocktail of scented air, adrenalin, greenery and a general feeling of being on top of the world.
LSD is just an illegal way of feeling the way u feel when you are riding a bike in Monsoon Goa...
And you gun again...and then the body holds you back again !!
In my personal experience, I have gunned Parikshit Bhinde's 2008 Pulsar 150 to 95kmph on a rainswept Goan highway, with non other than Ashwin Kak riding pillon...
and after the bike hit 95...Ashwin asked me if we were on 100...so I asked him why did he feel so?
He said- because his eyelids were fluttering like a flag !!!
Subsequently, both of us sang(shouted over the engine din) the song "SANITARIUM" by Metallica as the bike wound down to saner speeds.
As a pillon I have seen 110 kmph in Sinha aka Matrixisback's 180.
But its always dangerous to play with your life...so please be safe cos there are lot of other ways to get screwed in life, so why add one more..
Happy and Safe riding 😃
Life @ GIM ... well what a life !!!!
Landed on the campus on 10th June .... and posting on PG for the 1st time after officially joining GIM...:lookround:
The place is rightfully called God's own B School, situated on a hill top & it is simply BEA-UTI-FUL !!
and we have actuly got the experience of walking on the cloulds, coz on days when it rains heavily, clouds actuly float on campus grounds !! :)
Rainy season is 4 month long & it rains ALL THE TIME .... (just dimetrically opposite to my beloved delhi)..... now infact when it doesnt rain, it doesnt feel like GIM
( so used to carrying an umbrella now, tht its got the same place in my life tht my cellphone has
)
Mid summers night, (1st july 2011) ... an ice breaker session , where all the 1st yrs had to perfom anything based on their talent ( or so they thought ) , sing dance, talk.... and we had a blast...
It was amazing stuff!! we have awesome talent in GIM , in both the batches !! A it is ofcoure my duty to inform you about the most awited, talked about & eventful performance of the evening....... GIM Funshala (errr.... yes i was a part of it... but it seriously was too good & yes i am being modest ;)
the event started at 9pm & went on till 3-4am in the morning.... thats the GIM culture.... nobody leaves classes but nobody misses out on the fun as well.....
but not tht we came back and slept 😛 people stayed up chatting, singing & then we saw the most awesome sunrise ever..... you have to be here & see it , to believe how beautiful it looks :)
then went to bed at 7-8am ( p.s. it was an off and we did not bunk ) @ GIM u need to have 100% attendance :splat:
Then came the freshers night ( 10th july 2011), well now the concept is tht all junior girls / boys have to ask out a senior boy/ girl respectively and then go for dinner on fresher's night & then everybdy meets up in a disc....Now for those who dont get a date are a part of the "bajrang dal" ( which two thirds of the guys of 1st yr wer , because of the dearth of 2nd yr grls )
So freshers was an amazing experience... dance, music, masti :)
now coming to studies.... well... yes its MBA and we do study... ALOT .... 2-3 assigments a day
but then cant complain 😛 only i know how eagerly i wanted this....
Have to get back now.... assignment awaits
Today, what drew me to post here is rather someone amazing :). It was the event organized by Ribandar Talks which brings people from the industry to not just talk but to share the wisdom which they have learnt during their lifetime. The event started with a video showcasing a Man who has played cricket at Ranji level, written ads of Fevicol, lyrics of Mile sur mera tumhara, zoo zoo ads, Dairy Milk campaigns. Can you figure out who am I talking about? A cricketer? A composer? A brand Ambassador for Vodafone? No, No, I am talking about the legend of advertising, the man with simple looks, the man who believes Simplicity is all we should look for. Can't you figure it out yet? Well, I am talking about Piyush Pandey - Executive Chairman and Creative Director of South Asia of the advertising firm Ogilvy & Mather India.
And here goes the man on the podium with the opening statement "We all are born creative till education ruins us, till our parents ruin us" .Worth giving a thought! He says "I can tell you that you get ideas with a bottle of whiskey or while sitting in the paddy fields but no, it is not so, I would tell you that we get ideas from people around us, from our culture. I won't go through any PPT but I will let the flow decide where we go. I will run through the videos and will tell you how we got those ideas from the things, from people which we see every day .What I am going to take you through is not rocket Science but yes you have to read between the lines
Then begin the videos of the ads and the inspiration behind each one of them.
1. We are a patriarchal society where younger brother has to respect his elder brother and is not supposed to be smarter than him. We all witness this in our families and I too have a younger brother. Then comes the series of the ads of Asian paints where a younger brother works smartly to get his home painted and answers every question of his brother with "Aisa nahin hai ". Read between the lines 😃
2.At homes we have tradition of having something sweet before we go for some good work. We all have, at some point of time or other, have had curd, or a sweet before we go for some auspicious work. Then comes the series of videos of Dairy Milk with every ending line "Kuch meetha ho jaye".
3. We often see buses loaded with passengers, people on the top of trains. From there came the genesis of one of the Fevicol ad. I know you can't forget the ad of a truck with people loaded all over it and featuring "Fevicol" .Then followed the series of videos of Fevicol ads.
What a connection! What an idea Sirjee! He says" Communication comes from understanding culture. What we see, we just see them we don't go beyond it .It makes a great way to communicate with your customer through your culture. "Consumer is not moron, she is your wife. Treat the consumer with respect" said David Ogilvy.
Then followed another videos of Vodafone featuring Zoozoos of Rajnikanth where Bollywood rather Kollywood was the inspiration to make those ads. Other ads, made by Oglivy & Mather, like Ring the Bell campaign, Ads of Star Plus.
He ends with few lines which are really amazing "Ideas are around us, they are in our culture, I did nothing, I just observed it, respected it, I gave it back to you because it came from you ". No wonder, we make life complex, success in career and in life come from simplicity, from being aware of your surroundings. And then during tomato session (where we can throw questions 😃 to him) he responded to one of the questions as "Live beyond the books, look around you. Winner is the one who goes beyond the book ".
What a day it was, what an inspiration it was. Seems like I will get all the wisdom in next one year at GIM before I leave GIM .And this was just one of the amazing talks, many simple and great personalities are yet to come. Looking forward to this last lap of an amazing journey of 2 years at GIM.
