Hi guys With the admission results just a few weeks away :), I had a general question on the best process one can take to leave their company. Most of us here are with substantial work experience (approx 3.5). Since we will have only one and half months from the time we know the application status and most companies require 3 months of notice. What is the best approach to this problem. Is quitting the company without experience letter a good option :wow:.
Seniors, can you please add your 2 cents also.
If this not the right thread to address this, then we can move this doubt somewhere else.

Hi there,
Nope my friend this query is meant fr this thread........and let me assure u that same kind of issue is what we faced at our time. In my case i was able to give notice of only 19 days however i still got my experience letter. Now most of my batchmates also went through the same problem and my 2 cents over the issue is that company may deduct the salary fr not serving notice period but normally they dont tend to withhold experience letter. I am reasonably certain tht experience letter shall nt be a problem hwever it wld help if u try 2 get the idea abt the same from the respective department in ur company.
It was a grand event in a true Great Lakes style and again the chief guest was someone for whom the top management institutes of world would line up.
I am talking abt none other than the biggest living management thinker of our times Prof C.K Prahlad who was here at the launch of "T.S. Srinivasan Chair Professorship of Entrepreneurship" instituted by TVS Capital Funds Limited at Great Lakes Institute of Management. It was a selected gathering which was attended by all corporate honchos and Great Lakes faculties. It once more demonstrated recognition of GL among ppl who matter. I was among the select few students who made to the event and it was simply amazing to meet the man in person whose theories about core competency and fortune at bottom of pyramid forms the premise of any MBA course across the world.

Hi there,
First thing first dont trust rumors and i dont understand this confusion about placements of our batch as queries regarding this was clearly answered during admission process ........We had decent placements details of which will be brought out in our placements report.Kindly hang on till then .......
Btw........could someone confirm the construction of the new campus.
Can we expect it by early 2009 ??

Yeah... hanging on.. Hope the rumours are just rumours...
As the final shrtlist of students have come out, i am sure the entire lot would be interested in having a glimpse of Life at great lakes and the good news is thats exactly the reason y this thread was started by our seniors.
The better part is that i again have a good news to share with u on this occasion.Keeping up with his promise of providing world class faculty at Great Lakes.....Uncle Bala after T.N Seshan has recently announced the joining of Prof Nirmal Gupta as a permanent faculty at Great Lakes!!!!!
Prof Gupta is considered as GOD in marketing circles and our batch had the distinctive advantage of being taught by him twice this year!
For 3 consecutive years he was named as the best prof in ISB. He has also been profiled in the 18th edition of Marquis Whos Who in the World 2001. and in the 1st edition of 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century, published by the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge (England).
Infact v guys are kinda jealous that the next batch will have the his mentorship since beginning of the year unlike us!!!:(
Anyways welcome to this fast growing and exciting journey of Great Lakes...
Hostely plays very important role in MBA college... isnt it ???
I wanna know how do GLIMites manage the post college interaction with the other students or students from study group or say event group ?
Could some of the seniors enlighten on this please.
No denying the importance of hostels mate but in its absence , we great lakers consider campus as our sweet home!!!!! ;-)
And trust me u will find us all over the place 24X7...... in a one year course that amounts to amazing camaraderie...its becoz of this that absence of campus has not been such an issue with us.

i meant absence of hostel and not campus in last line!!!
Thanks so much unkindmonk, u surely are very kind My laptop is 1.73GHz and 1Gig RAM. The college is offering 2GHz and 2Gigs RAM. This is the only major difference I notice. Other than this there differences like screen size, webcam etc. which I think are pretty trivial and I am sure the mgmt would accept my poor notebook.
Also would you be kind enough to tell me about the accommodation scene around the insti. How easy is it to acquire a decent flat in the area? I am planning to come a day or two before the course starts to look for flats. What about those scary tales of water scarcity in chennai?
