1. This year we have a decent mix of companies lined up from all sectors and not just IT. This has been a delibrate effort from the placement cell to pull in a diverse set of companies, to match the expectation of the batch, and will certainly highlight our placements this year.
2. Package happens to be just another component of the offer as most of us are more keen to get the desired profile, sometimes even compromising on the package. However, the exact package depends on the value one brings to the table and is left to the discretion of the recruiter, depending on their requirement. Request you to check last years stats to get a fair idea of the package.
3. Citi group is lined up for placements. Interviews and final offers would materialize in the placement week. They are pretty open for the profiles and the roles would solely depend on the ability of the candidate to get it converted.
First thing first, me and all my fellow Great Lakers are extremely disappointed with the ranking which GL has got in P.G. I mean as a pgite i am extremely glad that this initiative of PG has come through and i can see a lot many newbies and oldies alike deriving a lot of value from it .
But as a Great Laker the rank which has been bestowed upon GL is heart breaking. We are talking about one of the best One year program in country which has academic support and tie ups with best Management institutes of the world. Its placement in its 3 years of existence is comparable to top b-schools of the country and at times better than them. Its batch's quality is appreciated as one of the finest by experienced corporate and professors from national and international colleges.
If the ranking is indicative of brand perception of GL, than it has goofed up big time. The kind of applications which we have received this year for admissions, which will be made public as soon as the batch is finalised , is probably the top 5 % of highest scorers in CAT and GMAT. These kind of applications clearly demonstrates, where GL stand in mind of aspirants and i am sad that PG has not been able to capture that.
I dont care for B-schools ranking much as they normally tend to focus a lot on infrastructure , which as of now GL don't posses. However PG ranking was supposed to be more than that and its kind of sad that expectations has not met reality on P.G. unlike old times!
As i mentioned few weeks back that few big tickets announcements are lined up from our side , so let me break one of those news .........
Former election commissioner Mr. T.N Seshan has joined Great Lakes as permanent faculty today!!!!!!
The man who brought the entire political system to its knees will soon start teaching a course in Great Lakes about Leadership, and today he was in campus to take the first introductory class.........
Trust Great Lakes for setting new benchmarks in management education irrespective of whether we are rated well or not!!!

That is a great NEWS!! for ppl like me who is trying to get an admission there..
@theunkindmonk, even i am dissappointed by the rank kiven by PG for Glakes..
I guess it pains me as much as it pains you in seeing that great lakes is at 37th rank, but let us not fault the process. the fact remains that we remain at 34/37th rank in perception among aam junta. Statistically speaking when you are considering say 2 lakh MBA aspirants we might not be higher but remain at 37 due to lack of a campus as well as our status as a newbie college.
The point we have to note is that we are one of the few colleges who have come up so fast in 3 years time which is a noteworthy achievement and i personally dont think the ranking is flawed as it conveys perception amongst a larger stream of audience. If we do a ranking amongst serious CAT and GMAT takers with work experience then i guess our ranking might be different. So if you are going to ask if 2 lakh CAT aspirants know great lakes , then the answer is a affirmative NO, if you ask if serious CAT takers with work ex know great lakes then the answer is a YES and if ranking is done according to them then its a different ball game altogether.
So honestly speaking i wouldnt really be bothered abt the ranking, but would be bothered by the fact that a majority dont know that we do exist. So till we catch a few eyeballs, the perception is going to remain...
hey PG great job.... as a math and statistic freak i agree with your rankings, but as a marketing freako i disagree as customer segments are totally different for different colleges :) great job.....
You guyz could do one based on different segments so that it gives us more deeper insight....

Hi Prashant......
Nice to see you active after such a long time.......as for ranking , i am sure next year it would be much better and and i agree we need to reach out to a larger audience. We have done that this year but still there is a huge scope for improvement.

Looking forward to major in Manufacturing Mgmt.
Could you help me out wid data regarding operations related placements this year ??
Fellow MM majors, kindly provide insight into the course.
Thanks !!
Hi Prashant,
We would be better equipped to take on this query after a couple of days. This year we are seeing a host of manufacturing companies, most of the big names in indian sector, taking a shot at our batch in the placements week. Most of these companies are offering excellent profiles at middle level management, the details of which would be made public in the weeks to follow. I am afraid at this point of time we will not be able to reveal the details about the participating companies.
Stay posted for a complete report on final placements at GreatLakes. 1 thing for sure, you will have enough opportunities to pursue a career in mfg sector after GreatLakes.
If there is a fever called placements then it has certainly reached to epidemic proportions in college right now. Junta is studying and is all tense , add to that a heightened sense of anticipation and that kind of sum the mood in the campus these days. I am too part of the milieu and got my own ghosts to bury before the D day!!!
Btw we came out with our list shortlisted students who made it to GD PI and kudos to adcomm team for pulling this off at this point of time
Following is the link where the results are available
