Amidst a plethora of black-coffee induced nightouts , I am here with one eye partly open trying to make some sense of what I'm typing right now.
It's been exactly 31 days since we landed in Chennai . Time at the speed of thought ( could be an understatement). It seems that just a few handful of micro-seconds have passed since April the 22nd. Though eleven months are yet to go , one thing that glares at me with the brightness of ninety
halogen lamps simultaneously put ON is the impact the faculty is having on our lives. Unimaginably great .
Over the years , my belief that teachers and smartness do not gel well was getting stronger and stronger until I joined Great Lakes. It's just been one month here and I was asked to fill in the feedback forms for the faculty . I couldn't stop clicking 5s ( which was the highest rating ) for most of the
parameters. I have studied in one of the creme de la creme engineering campuses in the country but could not feel the impact of the faculty in the entire four years and here I am - after spending just a single month in this
campus ; my stubborn adrenalin would kick my a** and get me type this note down.
If it's the faculty , it's gotta be here .

Hello great lakers,
I think this is one week where in we are getting some time to relax 😃 . Whats happening in the various committees? I have a few updates from the EDF Committee. We have some nice events coming up. The most important one is the TIE-ISB B-plan contest. It would be great if we could submit atleast 3 ideas from our end. What say guys? Seniors last year have bagged prizes in b-plan contests at SP-jain and ISB. We got to keep that trend going 😃

Regards,
Supriya

1. We do not brand any percentage as 'not decent'. You stand a good chance provided you portray your fit with Great Lakes through sterling essays. However it will not hurt to have an improved score.

2. Since most applicants will have similar IT backgrounds you should look at improving on your profile like developing some strong extra curriculars.

3. Come to the college and interact with the current students to determine if you actually fit into the college culture.

Keep posting if you have more queries.

I would ask you to apply with a better score.
because you need to have a good percentile to get a call from Great Lakes. and it may rise further as the bench mark would certainly go higher.......

Hi Mexican Wave,

As my other friends have suggested, your CAT score is not very high....however, you can still apply to great lakes and we will certainly look at your entire profile and decide......

We also accept GMAT scores...so, you can apply based on your GMAT score too...

June 22, 2008 witnessed another Guest Lecture @ Great Lakes :-

Vishnu in the Boardroom

- by Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik : A Medical Doctor by training, Marketing Consultant by profession and a Mythologist by passion.

He has written and lectured extensively on the nature of sacred stories, symbols and rituals and their relevance in modern times. He is the author of numerous books on mythology, most recently Myth=Mithya: A Handbook of Hindu Mythology. Dr. Pattanaiks unconventional approach and engaging style kept the audience in rapt attention, despite it being a Sunday afternoon.

He spoke about the differences in the thought process and beliefs of the eastern and western civilizations viz. Greek and Indian, with respect to mythology, and how this has shaped the current trends and means of interaction and doing business. Individual glory and collective prosperity forms the basis of Greek and Indian mythology respectively, and this has a significant bearing on the current day "flat" world.

So nostalgic,

Posts reminds me of my days @ Great Lakes. You guys are doing a great job. Kudos to you all.

cheers'

Along with this I would like to bring into notice the 'Yale-Great Lakes committee'. This committee is responsible for organizing a few events every year, the most prominent being the 'International Conference' that is organized in the month of december. The conference attracts people from corporate houses and best colleges (both in India and abroad).

The eminent speakers in the conference include faculty from Kellogs, Stanford, Yale, ISB, IIM - A etc.

A couple of years ago, Mrs. Indira Nooyi took out her valuable time to come to the conference and she shared her experience with all the people present there.

The committee's duty is to look after the arrangement from the scratch and to organize the conference in a successful way. Already the committee has decided the theme of this year's conference and also the designing of the posters has reached its concluding stage. All the work is done in the able guidance of Dr. Venkat. He takes out time from his busy schedule to guide us to do the work in a proper way. This year the plan is to organize the conference for 2 days. All the committee members are toiling hard to make it a great success.
