Hi,
Any idea how GLIM takes care of candidates who are not in India? I am based out of India, but currently located in UK for some project work. Do they conduct telephonic interviews?
Cheers

Hi!!
The candidates are required to appear before the panel for GD and Interview. There are no telephonic interviews.

I am apping for GLIM this year. Need to know about GLIM Entrance Test... will be applying in the first phase... since the dates are really cramped, want to know something soon about GET so that i can get mentally prepared. How about the GD and PI ? was told that it happens on the same day i come over to Chennai for the test. How were ur GD,PI experience ?
cheers
Srivathsan
Hi srivats,
This is again a glimmer and an old PG-ite who inks occasionally.
There are a couple Bits graduates in the current batch. Anyways, about the GET that you wanted to know... its a computer based test that you would have to take when you come to the Skool. Its designed to test your fundamentals(Math Verbal etc). The evaluation isn't based on sectional cutoffs if that's what you wanted to know. Its not an elimination round which is the best part about the test. You get to participate in GD as well as Interview on the same day.
PI normally lasts around 30-40 minutes with a few exceptions here and there. GD is like any other GD :D.
So do your homework well and there is no reason you shouldn't do well. All the best! Be prepared for questions on your work-exp :).
hi,
Please let me know when is the last date for applying ? is it Dec 10th or 17th ? and i believe this will be for round one. Im from bangalore, is it possible to take GET here in bangalore ?
Thanks
Hi,
Can someone(preferably those who have made it 2 GLIM) provide me withenough details about what GET is all about? Is GET as tough as CAT?/What is the Level of Difficulty posed in teh QA/DI sections? What comparison can be drwan betw'n GET/CAT/GMAT?
S thr negative marking?etc
I m in a hurry so don't want to miss this train....! ! !
Help me GLIMMERS...!!
Hi RNarayan,
GET tests more of your quant ability...its not as tough as cat...prepare well in basic maths like - Percentages, speed time etc....dont dwell too much into modern maths like set theory, Sequences etc......and again there are only 75 qs in 90 mts.......so time is not a critical factor....for DI, a basic prep is ok since when i took GET i dint find any DI qs.....and for VA, if you have a grip over basic vocab, the test should not be any cause of worry for you...this is my experience with the GET.....junta....if u have experiences pls do put it across......
Hey, i wrote a mail to the admissions office long back, yet to hear from them. Anyone from bangalore applying to GLIM ?soulofchange SaysHey smartkid, write a mail @ [email protected] for the same.

is it necessary to have a seal in the additional pages... im taking 1 reco frm my client in UK and i dont think that they have any seal over here.... and the soft copy of the document having the company seal is considered to be very confidential and these ppl are real security freak...
Any suggestions ????
Hi everybody
This is my 1st time on PG & man, what a place it is to be in.
Well, heres some stuff abt myself
I'm in the IAF & have been flying aircrafts for the past 1 yr. Due to some unavoidable reasons, I've had to put in my papers & exit the air force.
I gave my GMAT on 09 Dec 05 & got a score of 660. I'd been expecting 700+ but then, you dont get everything in life! I'll be applying to GLIM and just wanted pointers from all you people out there regarding the admission prospects.
Looking forward to your replies
Bye
Hi guys,
Iam planning to pursue an MBA. I need some info on GLIM. I have gone through the forum. It has answered some of the questions but not all. I would like to ask it here.
First I will give my brief introduction here.
BTECH - Chemical Engineering - India Institute of Technology (IIT)
4 years of Work Ex in Wipro. In case if I join GLIM, my work Ex will be 4 years and 3 months.
Is it really a worth to join GLIM after such experince? I am convinced that a fresher or a 1-2 yrs of experince person will get the value, but Iam really not sure about a person with 4+ yrs of Work Exp. Iam little late for applying in other institutes (in US, UK ), ISB etc. So either I can wait for one year or can apply to GLIM this year.
I have the IT experince of 4 years. Now Iam planning to switch the career in Finance. Does it provide enough oppurtunities? (The way ISB provides)
Does it provide oppurtunites abroad?
Thanks.

can anyone from the current GLIM batch comment on this, as even im having a similar profile,
Hi asdfg,smartkid,
I understand that given your background, you are unable to make up mind regarding Great Lakes which is very normal given the existence of this institute in B school map for just 2 years.
I believe, most of the information is given in the institute website and you must have gone through those informations.
Infact, I was too in similar state when was applying for Great Lakes last year. My background is similar to you..IIT..here it's Roorkee. IT industry..here it's TCS..3+ exp in same company..Joined this program throwing away long term onsite opportunity(USA) in hand.
The most important decision maker in my case was 'I'..Asking questions to myself..Do I like to spend my whole career in IT? Whether I like some other career better than this? What I really would like to be in terms of responsibilities? I found the real business operations(say Verticals..in my case Financial/capital markets) are the ones which I like much more than software project management(SDLC)..This is because I spent 2 years in a financial institution for their software solution need. I also found out through research that it is not that easy for a techie guy to get into other functions after more than 3-4 years exp. in India. The other industry during placement will discount the experience as this experience is not in general functions like marketing, finance, HR, Operations.
So, in my case, it was switching function and I found Great Lakes a good option with point of vew of affordability, ROI, faculty and future prospect.
This was a decision taken a year back.
Now, I believe, institute has got better visibility and positioning in corporate world and elsewhere. The task of Great Lakes has been made easier by ISB..their first batch graduated in year 2002, I guess. It was tough for them to convince recruiters about the values they will get in recruiting work-ex students..year 2002 was also not good year to graduate first batch..u must be remembring about the worldwide market slump that time. Things have changed now. Recruiters are eager to absorb work-ex guys given the value addition they are getting on board in terms of knowledge and skills, reduction of training cost etc..
All said and done..the institute has just produced one batch which comprised mostly of freshers..50% almost zero work exp..Most of them went into IT as this sector was offering better mullah compared to others..
Ours is the 2nd batch where freshers are just 13%. This year's placement will obviously give better picture to you.
Given, the above information, now it's your call to decide. Hope it helps.
Thanks yaar, for the detailed mail of yours. 😃
No hard feelings but it is as important for a college to make a good first impression as it is for the applicant......
I had posted a query mail to admission committee long back and have'nt got any reply from them so far....
I surely do understand the gravity of the time when the admissions is on but guyz isn't this one of the topics of curriculum.. to manage work n time effectively.... and who could better bring that into practice..
I had a concern regarding recos... the appliction wants the recommenders to put a seal as well in the additional pages used..... well its really hard to find such seals these days specially in IT companies....
Is it compulsory to hve such seal, if not what can be alternative (ofcourse signatures will already be there ) ???
Dear sunshines,
Your mail will be answered as soon as possible.
We regret for the inconvenience you faced. However, personally I feel that you can go ahead without seal. Signature should suffice.
Let me share with you something. we are just through with our maiden 2 days long B school fest. This was on 11th and 12th. The event was very successful with a large number of B-schools competing. some great people from all walks of life including industry, governance, politics, academics attended too. You can get more details from the institute website.
Thanks soulofchange.... as i said i do understand u ppl are engaged into something really big.....
wht can i say abt the fest ..... after going thru appreciation mails and checking out the details frm the website .. all I can say is that GLIM has definitley come up with some solid strategy and plan .. to steal the show...
keep up the dazzling work guyz...
