We had an invigorating Marketing Quiz on 29th February 2012.
It was great to see Jetlagged people returning from Hult Global Case Challenge (Shanghai and Dubai) showing the enthusiasm to participate in a 2 hour grilling contest.
The contest was dominated by Team Tandoori who cracked some really nice questions. Team Blitzkrieg beat Kotler Kids in a close contest to be the runner-up.
Some Questions:
Which 3 letter adjective connects IBM, UPS, Kodak?
Which are the two most recognizable words of English language?
Ahem bugged is used by which product as main ad character?
What company owns Dhara oil brand?
And many more......
Had loads of fun with audience showing great gusto throughout.
Enjoyable evening. 😃
Writing after a long time.....

HI seniors, can you elaborate on the scholarships for the students...
i belong to non-creamy layer and i rely on myself...leaving my job and getting into MBA with minimum help from my parents, how could IIMR or for instance any IIM help me?
We have 3 types of scholarships :
1) Merit Scholarship : Purely academic based.
2) Merit cum means scholarship : Academic plus based on parental income
3) SC/ST need based scholarship : For the needy students of reserved classes.
I wont go into specific details now. These scholarships are a general trend which is followed across all IIMs.

I don't know how I forgot to mention about the HR Summit that IIM Rohtak recently hosted.
But first let me begin with three cheers for the organizing committee of the HR Summit of IIM Rohtak 2012.
Huraay!!Hurray!!
Hurraaay!!
What an event!!
The theme for this year's HR Summit was, " HR Challenges of Managing New Generation Employees
".
The event was flagged off by the Director of IIM Rohtak, Prof. P. Rameshan, who stated that its the perception of the new age managers that HR policies are binding. It is the feeling of being tied down that actually keeps them shackled. He also touched a nerve when he said that the very constant of the new generation managers is change.
All of the speakers were really splendid and motivational.
The parallel drawn by, Ms. Aparna Sharma, Deutsche Bank, between the ants and the Gen Y was indeed refreshing. She mentioned that the Business slowdown is now a new normal in the market and that like ants we all should start saving for the rainy days. It is your never quit attitude that is going to enable you to sail through the tough times.
Mr. Ashish Srivastava (HSBC- CANARA BANK- OBC) opened with “The Fish” anecdote which put forth the fact that the new generation employees follow the old established practices without thinking about the rationale behind that. He highlighted the importance of internet in our life when he stated that, the world is shifting from “Information is power” to “internet is power”. He noted that innovation can never be forced and people must believe that they are born to be creative. It is important to “Equip leaders to be leaders”. He concluded with the maxim “Innovation starts by listening to the unspoken pain”.
Mr. Jehangir Pocha (INX News) commenced by quoting Winston Churchill, “The harder I worked, the cleverer I realized I was becoming”. He appealed to the audience to ask the question “How I want to live rather than not what I want to do” in order to make a career choice. He revealed that unlike the earlier generation, the new generation will have three to four careers instead of having a single career. He further highlighted the importance of attitude, adaptability, values and ethics for the new generation to make a career choice and subsequently be successful.
The discussions were really thought-provoking and great fodder for the minds of all the people who had assembled for the summit. The students really had a satisfying day what with all the knowledge coming their way!!
One thing is for certain. This edition of the event has carried forward the trend successfully and no doubt has raised the enthusiasm of everyone who cannot wait for its next episode!! For all of them, we will be back with a whole new and exciting episode next year. Till then stay tuned to the IIM Rohtak channel for new updates and exciting stories.
After a long haul through Managerial Economics to Financial Accounting, PGP-03 batch finished the Term-I this week with a reliving experience
