Life@IIM Rohtak

After a hectic term and exams full of surprises, a week's vacation does not feel enough. Anyway, the new term begins with a new spirit, new courses, new activities. Life at IIM Rohtak continues...

The kathor life has started again in its full fledged form, after the 1st term break..with lectures, assignments and submissions that keep us busy throughout the day..but today was different...2dy IIM-R hosted the 3rd management conclave ..we not only got a break from our routine but also got to hear many eminent personalities share their thoughts on various aspects of the business world..by the end of the day i felt it was all worth it. We learnt a lot from the leaders of the corporate world..

If you think Assignments,Tasks,Deadlines and the much dreaded Exams is all that an IIM has to offer , rethink! The 8th member of the IIM family at Rohtak has everything an IIM has to offer. The fast pace of life is the norm on most days..but complementing that is the festivities at the campus. Each festival is celebrated with full vigor here..be it the Malayalee clan serving food on onam or the ganpati aarti on ganesh chaturthi. The management conclave and the hr summit give us a chance to interact with the real world out there. The variegated skills needed in each committee here gives you a chance to do what you love. And the best part is the autonomy you have which gives birth to a leader in you. IIM Rohtak not only makes you a manager but aims to sculpt the leader in you...

It was a religious week for the kathoRians. "Vrat ka khana" was available during "Navratri" for fast-lovers. Sumptuous Bengali dinner was arranged to celebrate Kolkata's favourite "Durga-Puja" in continuation with the trend of festivities from all over India (Onam, Ganesh Chaturthi, etc.). The sweetness of "Malpua" and unique taste of "MistiDoi" were the favourite-flavours of the night. Then came the roof-top Dandiya cum DJ night. It was a huge success considering the participation from both the batches. Even "Next-week-exam" Syndrome was not able to deter us from enjoying the memorable night. Now exam time from Monday!! Goosebumps again πŸ‘

Hectic yet enticing , perplexed yet placid is the life@IIM Rohtak. Since the admission to the passing of first semester and starting of the second one, there has been ample number of changes in my life, all being good ones. Lectures of some of the best teachers, opportunities to participate in national events, knowledge sharing with peers and festivities are some of the things worth relishing. Now the biggest event of IIM Rohtak i.e Mini marathon,"Run for girl child" is going to be held on 10 November. IIM Rohtak has specially taken this initiative for saving girl child and encouraging gender-equity. Hope this noble cause of IIM Rohtak family has a big impact on every Indian.

What a week! But isn't that what we say every seventh day 😁? Well this one was about interactive workshops, a business summit and Halloween! The NCR business summit had many top level executives sharing insightful information on how to run your business in a sluggish economy. The future entrepreneurs within us were glad to hear words of encouragement from start-up founders invited to the Summit.

KathoRians were glad to see a new badminton court set up right outside the mess. Now the place is a sight to behold after classes with several people queuing up to play matches through the entire evening. For the Sleepless and Exhausted, the sport has become the favourite stress buster. 😲

mg The week ended fantastically with Halloween celebrations on Saturday. The night was a scary affair with people coming out in hideous masks, hats, and painted facades. The festival experience was a first for many and people danced the night away in their fancy attires.mg

And now exams are drawing near for the first years but all everyone can think about is the upcoming β€œRun for the girl child” mini-marathon. Can't wait to see the legendary Shri Milkha Singh flagging off the mini-marathon! πŸ‘

Sometimes you just sit back and wonder how every moment adds so much to your life.!! Weeks of sleepless nights and tireless efforts put up by the Organizing Committee of IIM Rohtak had finally reaped success.Supporting the cause 'Save the girl child' by being a volunteer at Mini Marathon,IIM Rohtak, I felt so touched when people from all age groups came forward. It was a treat to watch the kids get their registerations done!! Their enthusiam knew no bounds...all they aspired to be was.. The Future Flying Sikh !!!

Hard work and perseverance of many days paid rich dividends in form of successful organization of IIM-R 3rd mini marathon. The theme of the event was "Run for Girl Child" and it was heartening to see high turn up of girls to participate in the event. The excitement for the event could be gauged from the fact that participants of all ages started gathering as early as 5:30 A.M in the morning.. The presence of our chief guest Padma Shri. Milkha Singh filled every runner with so much excitement, that a tough competition was seen among all the race categories. The event taught important lessons to all of us and gave us an experience which will be cherished forever πŸ˜ƒ

Another great show by kathoRs in the summer placement season πŸ˜‰ From a strong base to a growing pedestal, kathoRs feel proud to pierce into the competitive B school market and showcase the best of the talents. And yes as the famous quote goes 'Rome was not built in a day', we are still committed to be the best but yes it's gonna take some time mg

Have a great day Puys!πŸ‘

"Wo academic block ki gaaliyaan,

wo mess me chai pakode ka swaad,

wo milke assignment likhnaa,

aur khali time pe chup chup ke apne crush ko dekhna.

Class me 100 percent attendance,

har competition me rehta haiΒ  presence.

I do speak in class to get the attention,

jab u smile, my heart goes to critical condition.

That pink, blue, redΒ  and green top,

makes my heart, for a moment, stop.

that killing smile of yours, make me go gaga for hours .

Har party me rehta hai tera suroor,

yeh mera nei PGP office ka hai kusoor.

Gender diversity ke naam pe hume milaaya,

fir humne tere naam pe yeh poem hi likh daalaa". 😁

That pretty sums up the romantic version of life at IIM Rohtak. 😁 πŸ˜›

one sunday morn,
drinking my milk with flakes of corn;
i found i was thinking hard,
about something which made me sad.

Its been two months since i joined here,
i made lots of friends and lots of peer,
Some were blue, the others were red.
some were new, the others were on my head. :-S

chotu, motu, pappu everyone of them was here,
and everyone of them liked chilled canned beer.
i started thinking what would happen when this life would end,
but then i read somewhere, its good to blow horn at every bend. πŸ˜›

Friends are an integral part of life,
Some are very sweet, some are like surgical knife.
Rina, mina, tina i liked them all,
but what if humpty dumpty didn`t had a great fall. πŸ˜›

I really found myself thinking hard,
about humpty dumpty which made me sad.
what if humpty dumpty didn`t had a great fall!
what if humpty dumpty didn`t had a great fall!

Thank you for sparing your time! i know you would bang your head somehwere.

A part of my life at IIM Rohtak!

A kathor life, extreme weather, extreme learning. There's creation of new clubs and committees after careful need-gap analysis. Serious meetings on long term benefits and short term benefits of club activities. There are strategists, marketers, the HR guys, the fin maniacs, the ops ppl, ALL joining their hands together in order to make this a great institute. The best part of the learning here? Setting the right culture, a great legacy to carry on. The aim is common, no matter what the major. Its all for the insti bro!! 😁

It's been a bit more than two months since I got to IIMR - apart from the kathor maxx weather, it's been a promising journey that is managing to keep my enthusiasm up day after day. The best things to be experienced are 'round the corner, (speaking of which the famed Kathor winter is 'round the corner too), and the heat (competition) is picking up perceptibly. After the crazy intensity that mid-terms were, we have entered festival season here at IIM Rohtak, something I was really looking forward to ever since I knew I'd be here. Lots to learn, lots more to do. The life at IIM Rohtak can't be described more effectively than on this thread - it has to be lived.

A rainy evening in IIM Rohtak coupled with the excitement of Antakshari and dumb charades..a day when all of us were charged up with the idea of taking a break from our hectic schedule and enjoying ourselves in a girls versus boys contest..the cultural committee of IIM Rohtak was at its best..we first played Antakshari and then dumb charades..my Hindi song vocabulary really increased but at last the girls were defeated by the boys with a score of 32.5 to 50.. Life at IIM is truly a blend of studies and fun..Enjoying it to the hilt..

"Teaching is the profession that teaches all the other professions"

This quote can be best depicted in any B-School where successful managers are created, groomed and prepared with the help of the people having the magical designation called "Teacher". Carrying forward the legacy of celebrating Teachers' Day in our childhood, IIM Rohtak students too, didn't want to miss this opportunity to grace our Gurus here. On this drizzly evening of 5th September, the teachers and the students gathered to have an interaction which was way different from the formal conversations during regular lectures. The event also witnessed an enthusiastic participation from our esteemed Director. The teachers had their share of fun in the activities hosted by students and the occasion concluded with the inspiring words of faculty.

Looking forward to many such memorable moments in my Life here @IIMΒ Β Rohtak! πŸ˜ƒ

We experienced all the flavors of a B-School with assignment submissions, presentations, the burden of the lurking end term and the fun cultural event in one week which ended with the enlightening 5th HR summit this Saturday.

There were some interesting remarks, experiences, anecdotes and insights about the world of HR from our eminent panelists.

"Taking a feedback after 90 days & the appraisal after a year are the two objective metrics in judging the integrity of the recruit and also of the Talent acquisition manager"

"Recruiters are brand evangelists. It is not about retaining talent but also about attracting talent" just to mention a couple from the several informative quotes from our well experienced panelists.

Apart from the interesting sessions, we saw whimsical but successful attempts by a couple of our panelists Mrs. Swati De and Mr. Gagandeep Singh to jolt the life out of the post lunch lousiness in us.

I thank the guests for spending their weekend to impart their knowledge to us.

The efforts by Placement committee, IRIC, PR Cell and the volunteers to make this event happen are commendable.

What a term it was! From the rigorous Personality Development Programme that introduced us to the KATHOR life at IIM-R to numerous late night submissions, surprise quizzes and exams, from the knowledgeable guest lectures to the corporate interaction through Summits, there has never been a dull day here. To add some spice in our lives, the Cultural Committee organized War of Sections and so far there's a tie between Sec B and Sec C. (though am routing for B :D)

Sports Committee organized the Independence Cup which was one by the seniors.( next year the cup will be ours though :B :D)

In short, there's always something going on to keep us engaged and motivated. And the best part is that students are enthusiastic about participating! Looking forward to the same challenging schedule. 😁

Students along with Sparsh, the Social Development Cell of IIM Rohtak took a step to support the Prime Minister's initiative for clean India. We visited various schools and villages around Rohtak and spread awareness about the importance of keeping our environment clean. Watch the video to know more about it! πŸ˜ƒ

It all started with the impetus by Prof Venkatesh Murthy, a pioneer of social and entrepreneurial causes at IIM Rohtak. Soon, the word spread amongst a few like-minded students, and Badhte Kadam was officially born in Kabir Colony, a slum in Rohtak, with more than 40 children involved across age groups.

The 'teachers' at Badhte Kadam have one common goal - to ensure that the children of migrant workers, ragpickers and slum dwellers obtain basic proficiency in English, Hindi and math. It pains them to see children being misdirected, put to use as successors to their parents' meagre occupations instead of being given a formal education despite RTE. One of the core issues also happens to be a lack of awareness of their opportunities, and the belief that schooling is not helpful for their cause of life.

Driven by the enthusiasm that the children are showing, these youngsters are going on all weekdays, come rain or sun, to instill the spirit of learning in these underprivileged young ones.

True to the name, Badhte Kadam has been all about moving forward, with hopes in their eyes that such small steps will lead to big impacts someday.
