Alumni Talk Series

Students get immeasurable value from their interaction with alumni. IMS Alumni Talk Series fosters relationships between alumni and current students and complements the academic curriculum with exposure to the business community. Students are able to explore different industries, review career paths, and fine tune their career goals. These interactions become more meaningful when students ask questions such as:

- What is it really like to work in areas such as corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Corporate HR or Advertisement and Sales Promotion?

- Is there a typical Career Path?

- What are the pros and cons of working for a large multinational firm versus a smaller company?

Alumni's responses help students in making right decisions as per their aspirations, with detailed insight into the relevant key areas. Above all Alumni Talk series "BOOSTS THE CONFIDENCE" of the students and prepares them to face the ever evolving competitive Corporate world.

I am proud in sharing that IMS (Institute of Management Studies, Ghaziabad) has identified and recognised the strategic role played by the alumni in grooming the careers of the present students and hence provides several platforms like Alumni Talk Series, Annual Alumni Meets and Star Alumni Meets.

From the commencement of July session, this year, so far 15 alumni have shared their experiences with the students and have solved their queries. Alumni Talk Series is held in the institute fortnightly.

DELOITTE JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT BUSINESS CHALLENGE

It was 5th October,2013 that my teammates and I went to Deloitte for participating in a business game which took place for the entire day in the Deloitte campus itself. It was a new experience for all of us as we were in a virtual business world, competing with some of the best B schools in Delhi/NCR region, making business strategies sitting in a corporate office, something which I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Business students from across the province competed at Junior Achievement contest at Deloitte. It is a fast-paced competition where students take on the role of high-tech executives in a global business simulation. The intense day of competition has teams working against the clock to develop management strategies for their imaginary companies, analysing financial reports and scrutinizing the actions of other companies in a futuristic marketplace.

60 teams worked through 12 quarters of business to bring their futuristic product. Designed to simulate actual business situations, students face very real and tough issues related to human resources, marketing, research and development and more. Nevertheless, we tried our best and stood 4th, beating some of the best in business.

We also had the wonderful opportunity to share our thoughts and shake hands with some eminent personalities and were privileged to listen to them. All over it was a good experience for all of us. And finally thank you IMS for providing this wonderful platform to showcase our skills and to acquire the practical business knowledge.

Yours truly,
