DraftFCB+Ulka Comstrat for the 16th straight year, was held on 11th December at K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (SIMSR).
DraftFCB+Ulka Comstrat is possibly the first ever case-study competition in the area of marketing communications, to be organized among management students in the country. DraftFCB+Ulka Advertising along with K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research pioneered this concept and nurtured it through its uninterrupted run of 16 years. The forum offers an excellent opportunity for the industry to build an interface with budding marketing talent and also offers a platform for young minds to hone their skills working on live marketing case studies.
The case study for DraftFCB+Ulka Comstrat 2010 was on Nokia C3. The competition was judged by industry leaders like Priya Chakravarti, Regional Marketing Manager- Nokia India, Nitin Karkare, COO- DraftFCB+Ulka, Mumbai and Dorab Sopariwala, advisor to NDTV and consultant to DraftFCB+Ulka.
After 2 grueling elimination rounds, six teams had entered the finals. The finalists included teams from eminent B-schools like NMIMS, MICA, SCMHRD, Welingkar, N.L. Dalmia and SIMSR. The teams, especially the home team, brought forward a number of interesting insights; not only about Nokia C3, but the entire mobile handset market in India, that is currently being dominated by Nokia. The home team SIMSR was the unanimous choice of the panel for the 1st place after delivering the most comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the case coupled with an aesthetically appealing presentation. The winners' list is as follows:

are course contents for PGDM n MMS different or same??

@gaurav21:
PGDM is a college run course whereas MMS is a university run course... they r more or less on the same platform but PGDM is certainly more exhaustive and industry oriented...
many of the subjects r also same in both the courses...

1st post on this thread from the hostel of K.J.SIMSR

Very inactive forum this has been considering the fact that SIMSR is a lively and very vibrant place.

Have taken admission into KJS into PGDM-IB course and already feeling the pressure of an MBA program

One thing I noted particularly is the awesome faculty here.
I don't know about other institutes but this college has changed the perception of really learned faculty of me. Faculties having rich industry experience (corporate and govt like RBI), from IIMs etc make classrooms really dynamic with their ways of teaching.

My IB batch has probably the best diversity amongst all "PGDM A"s and "B"s. With guys having work-ex upto 4-4.5 yrs not only in IT but in other manufacturing and construction MNCs as well. Added to that the freshers ratio is very well balanced and they come from awesome colleges like SRCC (DU), Ferguesson(Pune), Ramjas(DU), HR College (Mumbai) and so on.
Blessed to have such a diverse and friendly batch.

Will try and keep this place updated

Bomb explosions in Mumbai 😞 😞 3 days back.
But life has to move on.
It rains, rains and rains more. Placement committee selections are going on in full swing and so is the bonding between the newly formed friends and groups. Seems very strange that those few people who used to be strangers 2 weeks back are the ones who eat your head up till 3 AM in the hostels. Big time bonding going on

The grind has started and is expected to rise in the coming days. The only good thing is that the weekends are off.

Hi. Myself being a student of PGDM-IB from the batch 2011-13, must say an amazing learning experience up here is, from the industry point of view. Moreover, every week we have guest lectures.
And the class variation is really diverse. Students from pan India, diverse cultures, diverse working styles. A healthy composition all in all, 15 freshers out of a batch of 60.
Also, since joining we've given an all new name to IBS instead of the usual International Business Society!!!!! LOL...

Back after a long hiatus !!!!

Committee selections going on in full swing !!!!! And so are the classes and course load :(
Life is limited to classes and hostel .... on the weekdays :(
Rains start suddenly and go on till eternity !!!!

Overall life is going on at a rapid rate, days come by and go in a flash ....
with mid term approaching , sleep is becoming a casualty ... but MBA is never an easy task :)

The Olympic size running track was inaugurated just few days back and take my word....its awesome man !!!!
