Correction: I confirmed later that 7 out of 30 students were helped in placements by institute. Others had to look out for themselves.

Hi,
Please understand that even the first batch of PGDM of NM-B is currently studying in second year. Their final placements have not even started. Their summer internships were great (great profiles, great companies). The second batch of PGDM is gearing up for summer internships. Placement committee is doing a superb job in inviting a large number of companies from across different sectors.

if no batch has been placed yet............ if anyone asks me - I will put my money elsewhere at a more established b-school.
Btw - do you have mandatory disclosure posted on your website for the epgdbm program? That is a mandatory document stated by AICTE and is the only concrete document that tells everything about placements in written.

The numbers are from a close friend - so I trust these are ok. PGDM is a different program from my friend's.
During my MBA I trusted to go with a dependable regional institute and it payed out decently well as the fee was lower and placement records of many years were available and stable. So my time at a b-school was peaceful and I could focus on studies instead of worrying about placements.
MBA is not just about Placements and YES i do agree many of them worried about ROI...but No Institute (For this Matter Even IIM's) will n't Simply offer you Placements the day you Join them..You Gotto Earn them Brother... Let Me Point out some off the Track Details....Each day we get around 2-3 Offers/Notifications Just for Summer Internships, but that does't mean we have to simply sit and can Enjoy the Summer Stipend...We got to Fight for Survival..and trust me Sometimes even we get Shock when Companies wont shortlist the Guys with 90Percentiles throughout their academics...
I Duly Respect Your Decision to do MBA and i also believe 3 of my Friends already tried replying accurately to your Posts in this forum and also you can call the NMIMS tele and shoot out all your Queries. Even after that if you're Concerned about Only and Only Placements, then as you said you can put your Bet on the Institute which you Found Brilliant.

Yes please, you go ahead with a more established B school. I am sure your "friend" here will also get a great placement in finals and will still suggest you not to join (limited information, specially when biased, is more harmful than no information. It can lead you to take decisions based on info that you might find irrelevant in next 6-10 months. We have gone through the stage you are currently in, and we all now know how irrelevant and useless all that 'visible cool' information is which we get through sources who play absolutely no role whatsoever in actual implementation of any major or minor activity). We here are doing things which are much much more oriented towards learning practical stuff. Our batch has a very diverse and rich experience from across different sectors. The classroom discussions bring about new dimensions of problem definition and proposed solutions.
To all MBA aspirants:
Please do well in all the exams. Also try to do some introspection about why you want to do MBA. Is it just big money, job profile change, moving up the corporate ladder or any other. Answering this question is much easier for those who have industry experience, they know where they want to go. Its particularly difficult for freshers to answer, and so they much put extra effort to answer this. If you still cannot answer this with 40-60% confidence, I will rather suggest that go ahead and join the campus placements you got in your graduations. Have some work experience, see how things go around outside the lovely and secured college campus. Get you hands dirty in office politics. It will prove to be an excellent learning platform, and will gradually reduce the infinite doubts and questions you have about MBA and from where to do it and why.
Good luck my friends, I hope you make an informed decision based on unbiased information from relevant sources.

What more conclusive evidence can a college produce than a "MANDATORY DISCLOSURE" as directed by AICTE.
The information provided in a MANDATORY DISCLOSURE contains information on not just placements (not applicable in NM-B's case) but each and every aspect of a b-schools management and structure.
Why should people rely on words on a forum from current students (who will anyways be biased).
.. and I have been questioning only the credibility of info provided by students and not the credibility of the 2 year old college.

I am sorry for barging into this thread. But I could not resist seeing all the confusion regarding placements and credibility of NMIMS-B.
Being a sister concern, there are bound to be initial hiccups during placements. But that doesn't mean that the institute loses its credibility if it is not able to place all of its students within a week. There are many reputed B-Schools who took a hit during 2008-09, when many of their students had to be satisfied with packages of 4L PA. Would you believe me if I said this scenario was played over and over again in colleges like IIM-A, XLRI, FMS, NMIMS and even MDI?
Be capable. Placements will take care of themselves. Many a times, some dream companies don't visit a campus. So students opt out and venture out on their own for placements. This year students from IIM-A and some other B-Schools came down to Mumbai to attend CRISIL's off-campus Summer Placement interview.
If placements hog your mind, better don't do an MBA. B-Schools gain their reputation not due to the placements but their pedagogy and the competitive environment they provide. These, in turn translate into great placements.
That was all I had to say. And yes, best of luck for your MBA Season!!!
Also I request my friends to refrain from answering immature and irrelevant questions to avoid unnecessary arguments, so that purpose of the forum is met in the best possible way...
Whan an awsome lecture it was yesterday by Mr. Boman Moradian(jbims alumini)-Management Consultant and Director....
He gave us a real feel of how work actually takes place in the corporate word and how to get the things done.
The 9 hour lecture felt as if it were only a 30 min lecture....he gave a different perspective altogether to operations management....
His jokes, entusiasm and passion was such of an young teenager......Thank a lot NMIMS-B for organizing this lecture.....looking forward to similar kind of lectures in future.......
Unlike the management theories which we read from books, his theories are something we need to try...:-P
Dear friends I am an ex-student of EPG program at NMIMS Bangalore campus. And being a past student i can share more info than others.
All new IIMs are getting support from other designated mentor IIMs. Same holds for new campuses of IMT, IIFT and some other b-schools. But this is not the case with NMIMS-B. At least not when i was there.
Our placements had failed miserably. Not because of quality of the batch or environmental factors, but due to lack of support structure and a strong local leadership.
When other b-schools were visiting other cities, we did not even had a single placement officer. A faculty member with no experience of placements took additional burden and "tried" to guide students.
Placement is never guaranteed at any b-school and only assistance is provided. But good schools do put in a system or machinery in place.
And dear friend, placement is important and will hog at least an EPG batch's head as most participants have dependents and family to feed. You have to be in those shoes to understand.
After spending big money you get no job, are left with little money and a family to take care. That too after coming to a reputed "Brand". A brand which failed to provide even the basic support system to its students.
My experience was significant and i did well after getting a job on my own. But not everyone was that lucky and many are still struggling.
I just wish that future EPG batches and the other NM-B PG program students do not face the same problems.

Just wait till you attend lectures from Prof Sundarajan, Prof Murthy, Prof Narayanswamy. These are some of the best NM-B has got. There are others too but I have forgotten names.
Visiting faculty members like Mr Moradian are best in the business and I have heard about these guys even in the industry circles.

Sir the disclosure you are talking about is published after 3 batches have completed a program.
Hence not applicable in NM-B's case. Moreover one such document is available somewhere on NMIMS Mumbai website. I remember that AICTE approval and intake related information on NM-B was available in that doc.
If you are interested you can go and look for it as I did before joining NM-B. Although as it is old info, it will not have placement or faculty details.
My 10 cents to your cause ;)

It's really nice to see seniors posting in this thread...
Sir, I would say any new b-school struggles in the early years and that is bound to happen in country like India where focus of people is on placement and not learning.
I don't have anything against people looking for good placements but I don't understand why people are placement oriented and not learning oriented, and as only you said by your hard work you were able to get good offer.. And this is what my point is '"You have to earn things in life".
I can easily understand that an organization which strongly believes in learning and think that placement is a by product of learning, didn't put more emphasis on placement activities initially...
Gradually we have built up a strong placecom committee and have a very senior and experienced industry person as our place com director, who has been praised by even corporate. We also had corporate visiting week and visited enough number of companies and got good response.
Still we believe that placement is not given, it is always earned.
Written above are my personal views and I meant no offence...
Expecting more posts and guidance from senior batches....

We are satisfied by the efforts put in by the placement commitee at NMIMS bangalore...under the guidence of our new placement director...
Corporates have themselves praised our placement director...each and every member of placement commitee are dedicated towards their work ...the result of which people will be able to see when the official placement report comes out....

Hi, I am EPGDBM student of current batch and let me share with you the latest. We have a fulltime placement Deputy Director and she is excellent at her job. The Placement committee is working hard and they are getting wonderful response from Industry, I am a part of it so consider it firsthand information. College is supportive to all kinds of placement initiatives if you take one 😃 System is in place and we hope to get good placements this time. Regards, Ravindra.
