Life @ NMIMS Bangalore

My best wishes are with you all. But remember that reputations and responses count for nothing if results are not delivered.

Also If you know the latest - can you share what the college is doing for students still to be placed from the 2010 batch?

To my friend with the "learning" centric attitude - dude do not forget that companies hire only after interviews and there they grill candidates thoroughly. But how fast can you swim when there is no water to swim?

When you compete for jobs outside it is not the same game anymore.

Words cannot explain what one feels at that time and in that position, but I would not like to see anyone in such situation.

In our case there were hardly any companies on campus. Authorities kept giving false promises that they will do something and in the end told us that we were on our own. Student did a lot as well but had no support or guidance what so ever from parent campus.

I do not think they will even support any future batches as well, as they have to take care of their own.

Glad to know that there is some good placement director in the college now. There was someone on that position last year as well but nothing much materialized.

I just wish much better results for the current batches and that students who are still job-less are not left on their own.

Hi,
I am EPGDBM student of current batch and let me share with you the latest. We have a fulltime placement Deputy Director and she is excellent at her job. The Placement committee is working hard and they are getting wonderful response from Industry, I am a part of it so consider it firsthand information. College is supportive to all kinds of placement initiatives if you take one 😃
System is in place and we hope to get good placements this time.
Regards,
Ravindra.

I can understand your remarks. Please do not get offended but I feel you make a lot of assumptions and I have marked all those in bold.

What makes you believe that in India people focus only on placements and not learning? Have you run any survey or is it just a belief?

Besides my friend education now is a business in India. Otherwise you will not see so many new institutes (including NMIMS Banglaore, Hyderabad and maybe Chandigarh in near future) coming up across India.

And if educational bodies are running profit making operations, then what is wrong if a student expect a good ROI on the learning journey taken while doing MBA?

However it is criminal if "Brands" do not deliver. Period.

It's really nice to see seniors posting in this thread...

Sir, I would say any new b-school struggles in the early years and that is bound to happen in country like India where focus of people is on placement and not learning.

I don't have anything against people looking for good placements but I don't understand why people are placement oriented and not learning oriented, and as only you said by your hard work you were able to get good offer.. And this is what my point is '"You have to earn things in life".

I can easily understand that an organization which strongly believes in learning and think that placement is a by product of learning, didn't put more emphasis on placement activities initially...

Gradually we have built up a strong placecom committee and have a very senior and experienced industry person as our place com director, who has been praised by even corporate. We also had corporate visiting week and visited enough number of companies and got good response.

Still we believe that placement is not given, it is always earned.

Written above are my personal views and I meant no offence...

Expecting more posts and guidance from senior batches....

Regards,
Mitesh

Hi Old Wise Guy,

I am a current EPGDBM placement committee member. I disagree with your thinking that the college is not doing anything for the current and future batches. This being a public forum I do not have the authority to disclose the placement status. In case you or any of the participants would like to be appraised on the same, you could get in touch with me (my number is 8951449591).

Also, we would like to invite you for the alumni meet to be scheduled soon.

Thanks,
Anthony.
