Hi all ,
The Chairperson ,Admissions and the panel were strict regarding the academics of the student.
Many companies require atleast 60 % in the academics .. otherwise those students wont be eligible to sit for the placements for those companies.. There is no point in taking those students who wud struggle later.
CAT percentile is nt the only criteria for selection since its nt a true reflection of the candidates ability. Consistency in academics is what matters.Many candidates who scored around 90%ile have not been shortlisted due to their poor acads ( some of them having as less as 53% in graduation).
I hope this would end all the debate on this issue n i wish u guys all the best for the GD-PI

Thats a good idea Mithila. Although I'm from Chennai, I've got my GDPI at Bangalore. I think all of us who have got calls from SDM can try for a conference chat on yahoo so that we get to know each other and prepare better. Interested ppl, pls PM me.

Hi all, checked the sdm site now and the update for GDPI is available. My GD is on feb 28th at Bangalore. Exact location not known.. anyone else having the same day at Bangalore pls let me know so that we get to know each other better even before the GDPI.. thinking of speaking with the admissions office and get the update on exact location.

Hi! Ricky,i have 82%ile in CAT n still not selected for GD PI. firstly i thought that it may be due to the high cut off. but i was really upset to see people getting calls even at 68%ile. can't sdm imd dislose their criteria for selection.
I can understand that this is the important phase and one needs to know the basic facts before applying to any B-School when there is a plethora of B-Schools.
Some of the Strengths and weakness of SDM-IMD which i get to know in the past 6 month are
Strengths:
Faculty- I believe that faculty is our biggest strength. We have no of faculties who are regular visiting faculty in IIM-K, IIM-B and other international universities like Fox School of Business, Temple university, Pennsylvania USA
some of the regular visiting faculty in SDM-IMD are
Mr.R.Sridhar-CEO of Brand Com
Mr. Manjunath- CEO of four companies along with the member of Board of directors of Polaris
Mr. Ravikiran - HR Consultant Earnst & Young
Mr. Srinivasan - Consultant Dutch Bank and other MNC's
Mr.R.Mohan -Ex-CEO of Mphasis
Mr.Yashikawa - CEO Nestle India
Mr. Satyajit Dash- HR Manager Infosys
Mr.T.V.V- VP Finance Polaris .
Mr.Lakshmanan- Chairman Rane Group and many other distinguished faculty from IIM's and other international universities.
Infrastructure:

Till now we have 5 companies on campus and max salary 8.8lacs is been offered by Infosys. Infosys recruited 30 students with min salary of 6.5 lacs. Till now the avg sal is 5.8 lacs(domestic) and around 55 Students have already been placed.
Around 50 companies has already registered for campus placements and they r working with placement office to get the dates.
This is the first time that some companies are offering overseas offer to SDMites.
Big Guns like SAP, Titan, Air Deccan, Polaris, Citifinancial, HDFC etc are still waiting to grab the talent from SDMIMD so placement scene is getting better n better with the span of time.
Weakness:
Till now institute has no Foreign University links for student exchange program but institute is trying with some top notch universities of US and Australia for student exchange program.
Less Powerfull Brand name this is because the instititute doesnot believe in promotion of brand and institute has philosophy that brand comes with best quality not by advertisements in big newspapers but i donot belive in institute's philosophy. I think its not a bad idea to show ur core competencies to the world.
Opportunities:
Mysore is the fastest growing city in India.
Big guns like IBM, TCS, CTS, ABN-AMRO bank etc are planning to invest heavily in Mysore. This will definitely add value to our placement scenario.
Students Profile of 2006-08 Batch.
We have around 60% Engineers
30% of the batch has a work exp of more then 2 years.

IIMs do issue a CAT score card.It will reach you before the admission process.Take printout of the online score card also.Take a photocopy of all your original certificates(Academics) as during GD/PI they may ask for it.All details will be provided in your GD/PI call letter.Cheers...
