Yo ! We are with a NGO called Snehbandhan which has put us thru into an assignment with the Zonal Transplant Co-ordination Committee (ZTCC), under the guidance of Dr.Vatsala Trivedi, who performed the first ever transplant operation in Mumbai.. The exercise is that of gettin a questionnaire filled by the hospital authorities for the sake of analysing the death rate and Mortality rates in the ICUs across Mumbai... Must say that it is a very enriching experience.. Was at Lilavati today.. And man...had UNRESTRICTED ENTRY ! :-P But saw no VVIPs ! :new_bat_angel: Their canteen simply ROCKS ! Awesome ambience... Breach Candy.... U R NEXT !
: Mihir, woooow, u seem to be njoying the canteen of the hospitals man.....man but u wud agree with one thing definately....something i realised after visiting Nanavati dialysis center.....we would pray that no one shoud get the opportunity to visit a hospital for any damn reason....we could hear children shouting and crying at the top of theri voice in the radiology center in the basement......man we are being exposed to REALITY......REALITY thts being faced by the world...so the experience at SIESCOMS has been much more than four walls of the classroom!!!

hi guys....we have been talking about our NGO project in the past few post.....let me tell you wat s it all about and how it all started........:crazyeye:
Ngo has been a part of SIESCOMS curriculum since 2005. This initiative was started because of the vision which our beloved Director Dr.A.K.Sengupta had 3 years back who is an active socially responsible citizen. It was started to imbibe social values into the minds of each of the student at SIESCOMS. It would help us to develop into not just as corporate managers but also as socially responsible citizens. It would make us realize the prevailing social problems which we otherwise usually tend to ignore.
Initially the program started as a theoretical subject. Later the need was felt that practical experience is necessary to actually feel the intensity of the problems the society has. So in the year 2008, NGOs were called to the campus. A total of 120 students were allocated to a set of 20 NGOs, each team comprising of 6 to 7 members each. The NGOs were co-operative and they assigned live projects and took us in with open hands.
The projects which we dealt with included most of the social issues like the environmental issues, women and child related issues, health related projects, hygiene. Some of the prominent NGOs include Akansha, Arambh, Alert India, Down to earth, Vasantha Memorial, Yuva etc. This program was included as a full time credit course. The total program was for a period of twelve days during which the students had an opportunity to actually do some field work which helped them to understand the ground realities. The students were asked to prepare a report and presentation on the assignment which they worked on based upon which they were evaluated by their mentors. The program coordinators were Prof.Dr. Surekha and Prof. Vidya Iyer. :1eye:

No nuisance of a screeching motor, no smell of grease, and no dirty uniforms.this garage is a complete exception! SIESCOMS very own Brand Garage is a platform where the engines of the past, current and emerging marketing trends are studied, unlocked and assembled. The first of its kind in any management college, Brand Garage is a session chalked out by the 1st year marketing students of SIES College of Management Studies. The Garage is held every Saturday post lectures at the college amphitheatre. Brand Garage facilitates a chilled out session where in students, irrespective of their specialization are invited to share their ideas and views about a particular product, concept or trend. Students are given a prior intimation about the topic for a particular session. A certain amount of research or study about that topic helps a better interpretation of the discussion held during the session. Apart from conducting discussion forums, the Garage also takes up case studies. These case studies range from concurrent situation of companies to ready cases available in books and journals. During such case solving sessions, the Garage is further divided into groups. The group that comes up with the best possible interpretation is awarded a Garage memento as a token of appreciation. A Key Speaker at the Garage! The Garage is at its productive best, when its chief architect is a corporate guru. The match of a casual ambience along with an unparalleled quest for knowledge leaves the speaker spell bound. The industry experts are elated to address this unique arrangement and share their thoughts and experiences with the management students. Brand Garage is one of the outstanding platforms created by the students of SIESCOMS where each idea is considered important, every thought is nurtured and all good concepts are valued. In the future, the Garage aims to improve on its offerings in terms of more student participation and rope in many more industry experts to churn out maximum possible value from its session. For now, its WORK IN PROGRESS inside the Garage..
Truely brand garage is doing exceptionally well.. its being carried forward very well by our young team.. and i m sure the senior team will bet on it... n by those enlightenin sessions by our own peers i m sure many will surely follow the Kotler Way!!!!!!

hey guys.....long time since we met....everyone seems to be completely commited to their NGO projects....how is the project going on guys??
Ohh yes rightly said..its been long since V hav met...had got so used 2 being in coll day-in day-out dat it has bcome a bit borin nw after a gap of 9 days as of nw.phew!! stil 5 days 2 go bfr coll re-opens n den SIESCOMS rocks.. Talkin abt NGO,well its been a special experience being wid our NGO called BAL ANAND at Chembur.BAL ANAND is an orphanage that caters to the need of detitute and differently abled(we call mentally challenged children as differently abled) children.BAL ANAND since its inception in 1984, receives, shelters and rehabilitates the abondoned and destitute children.
Well frankly guys I dnt think dat in my entire life I wld hav got an opportunity to witness this side of life.Life has a complete different meaning for people outa here. They are special children of destiny but what is unique to them is their ability to fight back and stand for their own cause. Its their determination which has inspired me and made me understand that life is not about cribbling al the time for what I dont have or I havnt achieved but its al about what I hav attained or what I have received and making the most of it.
Since its establishment in 1984, BAL ANAND has been committed to rehabilitating children deprived of families and family care, through adoption. As rightly put by BAL ANAND,every child has a right to a family.
BAL ANAND has been under the supervision of WORLD CHILDREN WELFARE TRUST INDIA(WWTI),registered under Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950.besides BAL ANAND WWTI has also aided BAL ASHRAYA,Nagpur AND BAL UDAY SHISHU GREH,Bhandara Nagpur as rehabilitation homes for abondoned and destitute children. Apart from orphaned children,BAL ANAND also takes psecial care of physically and mentally challenge children for whom adoptive placement is not possible. A Team of Therapists,Paediatricians,Social Workers,Volunteers,Administrative and Domestic Staff work cohesively to provide not only the basic necessities but also special care and attention these section of children require with the aim to help them become self reliant. I would like to end by sayin that,Its not the ORIGIN that matters. Every child is special in its own regards and has a unique understanding and talent that can prove handy if nurtured properly. I thank SIESCOMS for giving us this platform of learning, which will lead in its way to something called CSR that we all management graduates should learn and incorporate as being part and parcel of life. Last but not the least "SIESCOMS Rocks!"
:cheerio: SIESCOMites off campus for 15days: A peek-a-boo at - why were they absconding? 29 September 2008 was the day, when the PG students of SIESCOMS attended their last lecture before leaving the campus for the NGO project. As part of the course curriculum the 1st year PG batch pioneered the one of its kind endeavor. SIES College of Management Studies has tied up with about 20 reputed NGOs in the city for this project. The PG batch was divided into groups and was allocated the task of actively working with these NGOs for a span of 15 days. The list of NGOs included the likes of Akanksha, P.N.Singh Foundation, Yuva parivarthan and Kotak Education Trust, just to name a few. The students were specified to work with a set of pre-decided roles and responsibilities. The roles for these students ranged from designing strategic working models to activities like assisting the NGOs in creating new awareness campaigns. Overall, it was a win-win situation for both the NGOs and the students. The management students were facilitated with hands-on experience of contributing to the society. Whereas the NGOs, with the help of the invaluable management inputs; identified a scope for improvement in their operations. For the PG Students, the 15 day off campus activity has turned out to be very productive in terms of both learning & experience. It has in one or more ways taught them the real essence of management!
