Hi guys....we at SIESCOMS hav finally completed our 3 day amazing seminar on "Vendatan Vision" which was conducted by respected "Jaya Row" who has more than 35 years of study and research experience in Vedanta. Her powerful personality and her experience of conducting management seminars fir CEO's and executives had a lot to teach us.
This Vedanta program helped us understand the values we need to nurture in modern management....
She said.....Just as laws govern the world outside, laws operate in the realm of mind. Ignorance does not exempt us from their effects....
Vedanta provided us with the techniques of self management that is surely going to help us harness our potential, help master our mind, inspire to excel, equip us to deal with the life's challenges and build meaningful relationships......
I thanks our college SIESCOMS to help us understand a different aspect to life and making us realise that one should seek happiness from within and not outside........
SIESCOMITEs connect to themselves! Life does not listen to your logic; it goes on its own way, undisturbed. You have to listen to life; life will not listen to your logic, it just does not bother about your logic As the Sanskrit Vedas reverberated through the SIESCOMS auditorium, each and every soul present there was being enlightened. At SIESCOMS, we management students are trained to churn out maximum profits from minimal resources. The institute nurtures great corporate essence within its students. This professionalism is embedded with a package that focuses on self enhancement sessions. The institute believes that along with enhancing ones skill, one needs to improve personal values too. The recent stint with Vedanta gave the PGDM batch an opportunity to take a glance at some of the most important aspects of life. The Vedanta session was conducted by the woman who needs no introduction. Jaya Row. Jaya Row is famous for her vast experience in the field of Vedanta and has preached the subject across India, in various other top management institutes. It is often said that self assessment is the greatest assessment. The answers that we normally seek from the outside world actually lie deep within us. We just need to fetch them. To fetch these answers we need to connect to ourselves. Todays generation is witnessing, rapidly changing lifestyle patterns. Humans are making an earnest attempt to keep pace with the changing trends and they do so by moving around all the time. And consecutively there is no time to stand and stare! Vedanta highlighted some of the very resounding facts of life which we never pay heed to. I believe that all the students have gained priceless benefits from the 3 day session and have returned to their routine with a renewed zeal and zest.
For all those who are interested in HR Majors... SIESCOMS conducted the 2nd NATIONAL HR CONFERENCE on 8th Nov. 2008. Title : Developing Indias Human Capital - Wealth Creation at the Bottom of the Pyramid :new_rainbow: Venue : Salcette, The Taj Lands End Bandra, Mumbai. The highlight of the conference was the launch of Mr.T.V.Rao's book, titled HRD Score Card 2500.
The conference was also marked by the presence of eminent personalities in the field of Human Resources such as Mr. Sharu Rangnekar and Mr Ginil Shirodkar. Following the book release, the audience was treated to a sneak-peek into Mr.T.V.Rao's innovative piece of work, which has already received its stamp of approval from the corporates. The event also felicitated three individuals for their contribution in the field of HR, namely :
Dr B R Singh, Director - Ispat Industries
Dr Om Kaul, Management Consultant
Mr Ginil Shirodkar, Management Consultant
They were conferred Lifetime Achievement Awards by SIESCOMS, after which the conference commenced in full flow. We had three modules for the conference, spread across three sessions. The First Module focused on Identifying competencies. We had the Ms.Bhavna, HR head of Jump Games - a part of Reliance ADAG, initiating us to the art of TALENT MANAGEMENT, the need for it and the CONCEPT of building brands through PEOPLE. A case study was highlighted of ANIRIGHTS INFOMEDIA which was later transformed into BIG ANIMATIONS. Mr.Pradeep Pande, President (HR), ISPAT Industried followed this up with the ISPAT story. DO => DISPLAY => DELIVER was the mantra that he imparted. The session was concluded by the statement that GOALS were the WHAT of performance, while COMPETENCIES were the HOW. The Second Module was on Pooling the required workforce and Developing the Competencies. Speaker 1 : Mr Leslie Rebello Speaker 2 : Mr Vasudevan Sreenivasan Both the speakers, management consultants and wizards in their own right, spoke about the means in which RETAINING the workforce and developing them to perform as a world-class unit could be done. The Third Module was an Actual Case Study on Development of Talent, presented by Mr Sanjay Muthal- MD Nugrid Search. The Participating Companies for the conference included Pantaloon, Satyam, CNBC & ICICI Prulife amongst others. The experience was MIND BLOWING. Not only did we gain insights from the people, we also started believing that HR is no longer an ancillary function to any organisation... not ANY MORE. Here's waiting for the THIRD installment... Cheers ! Mihir Mohan SIESCOMS Batch '08 - '10
It was indeed a delight to be at The Taj Lands End, Bandra on the 8th of Nov 2008. Taking into account the current economic turmoil, there was a general opinion among HR managers that the focus is on employee retention and employee empowerment rather than recruitment. However there was a feeling among them that, going forward the situation will improve and the economy is slated to grow at double digit in the long term. An important point brought forward here is, companies still believe that, "People are the biggest asset" and that was indeed the agenda, "Development of Human capital". Not to forget stalwarts like Mr.Karthik Narendra, an HR manager at the countrys largest engineering firm Larsen & Toubro, said: We are only recruiting in our power business since it is an emerging sector. Recruitments for all other businesses have stopped. We are engaged in more internal reshuffling to try and promote talent in-house.
All an all, the HR summit was a great way to understand the plan of actions of leading corporations and it also gave an insight into how an HR expertise can improve the processes and thereby bring about efficiency. Thanks SIESCOMS for the erudition experience.

Sure a break in the midst of the exams was truely what we all were praying but didnt know that God would answer our prayers at the cost of so many lives... It was a murderous mayhem which brought life at standstill for 2 days in the Indian Financial Capital. The terrorists attacked the Heart of Mumbai the Taj Mahal Hotel Palace and 6 other places Trident Hotel, Oberoi Nariman Point, Leopold Cafe in Colaba, Santa Cruz, Vile Parle. The 105 year old building standing opposite the Gateway of India is a popular spot for walkers and sightseers. If you have been a visitor to Mumbai, this is a part of the city you would probably have visited first. The terrorists poured in the hotels with lots of arms and ammunitions.. the question to be raised is where did all this come from??? Amongst all the cross firing the City also lost its 3 most very senior police officers of which 2 were Hemant Karkare (Head of ATS) and Vijay Salaskar (encounter specialist). After almost 60 hours of terror the city is breathing a sigh of relief, but there is a strong sense of anger amongst the citizens as they have been taken for granted for far too long and the word resilient that has been used for the City of Mumbai and its citizens is fast becoming a taboo. The word has acquired a new meaning that keep going nothing will change. Those who have been entrusted with teh security and management of the country will move around with Z Plus security and the citizens, poor and innocent will bear the brunt of terror. Now what we all have to wait and watch is how the Indian top authorities deal with this issue will they learn their lesson or will there be more innocent people who will loose their lives to terrorists :::
