Hello Friends,
The new batch of PGDM 2009-11 has entered into the SIESCOMS family and for the first time after the commencement of the academic year we all just finished with our 1st semester examinations this Monday(30th November 2009). Students from varied backgrounds, differing in their academics and professional experience came together and gave the examination. The 1st sem was full of Basics related to business and other management aspects, with numerous presentations, case studies, projects, dummy organization designs, etc. With all the basic knowledge, static ideas and creative thinking, we all are enthusiastic about getting into a hardcore and dynamic atmosphere of 2nd semester.

Aaaah!! a happy feeling which marks the official end of 1st sem exams for all U juniors n 3rd sem fr We regulars..n hopefully WE all get the results WE strive for(widout much standard deviation:w00t:)...n its to c U all on PG..wen I say dat I take this opportu to : Khanshahbaz to PG n [email protected] up fr the challenge coz sem2 has a raisd level with lots of excitin n participativ activities happenin al around u..:cheerio:

Summerz n Virtualities..WOW!!..dats one rockin tym..Well gear up fr the challenge n make the most of it...
The time is here once again. It is a time of celebration, a time of merriment. It is Christmas period... Nothing can take away the joy that Christmas brings :

And this is also the last time that I will contribute to life@SIESCOMS though I may be seen occasionally..I remember the first time, the first lines, PG was something I wasnt sure of :wow:n here I am a Hardcore Pagal :w00t: contributing quite often than not and the experience somehow became an addiction unknowingly...

So this post of mine has surely to be dedicated to my most cherished moments of a B-school experience which is not what defines my SIESCOMS journey coz the SIESCOMS experience is different:cheers:...time just flew away as We kept ourselves busy doing multi-tasking most of the days...It wud be an understatement if I hav to say that life@SIESCOMS was fun, as for sure it was much more than that...U gotto be in SIESCOMS to mutually agree on me with that..

Now, a year and half in, strangers have become friends, nerves have been replaced with poise. In the next couple of months, I start work with one of the leading banks in India. But before I get to work, I have time to reflect on the year that was.

I will very distinctly remember all the addresses of our beloved director Dr.A.K.Sengupta sir..He was and will always be an admiration for me and he surely had the pedigree to steer my thoughts to the right direction.

I must admit I feel I can breathe a sigh of relief now that I have securd a job

I don't think I have ever packed so many experiences into so few months. I realize there were things that I took for granted and missthe freshers and the farewell party going to "Indulge", PG vs. MMS game, the dogs on campus

A day at SIESCOMS was filled with so many happenings and one never feels tiresome to be on SIESCOMS campusits a general feeling that the campus is in Nerul, Navi Mumbai which is separated from the core Mumbai and proves to stretched but buy my words, travelling to Nerul for me in this period has never been a problem. In fact, its been a smooth ride as Navi Mumbai is still an unexplored destination so the trains, buses, autos and roads are less crowdy and much more clean to say the least..

From an academic standpoint, my thinking has definitely become more structured and I attack problems with more rigor and strategy than before. The experiences, tests, and knowledge I gained, and the friends I picked up along the way, will remain with me forever. I wish in a way I could stay here longer but, alas, I gotto return to reality

I will miss the assignments, presentations, the events, prizes, Saturday corporate interactions and almost everythingI would want to say forever SIES College Of Management Studies ROCKS!!
The above post got shrunk a bit...So here it once agn

Why this thread is dead................?:wow::wow::wow::wow::wow:

The whole thread is so mesimerizing like as if I was among u seniors and watching u enjoy your journey of 2 yrs, which almost sounds like an aspiring manager's fairytale.. What has happened to this thread. No post since 2009 christmas.

I request the seniors, please keep on puring your memoirs. Atleast I can feel the clg through you if God forbid I failed to get thru this clg.............

@aniruddhtiwari: Point taken....
Was out of action for a while from the beginning of this semester ... First Virtualities (Our college fest), then the admission procedure where there were like a million queries everyday :).... I thought it would be more helpful and fruitful to spend time in the "Admission queries thread" where I could help out this year's aspirants with their queries.... As a result this Thread was left in the unattended... My mistake ๐Ÿ˜ž *kicks self* ....
Right now our second sem exams are going on .... It will get over this weekend... I promise you I will post the entire goings on in the college right from where we left out .... From Virtualities to scary but fun exams... You will get it all... Read all about it here ... ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ......
Wait for a few days thought till I get these exams off my chest ..... ๐Ÿ˜›

But pls aap log party me jaane se pehle results declare karwa dena:lookround:aur dua karna ki mera bhi admission ho jaaye. (m i getting filmy..............?????? )

First things first ......Results will be out till till the end of this month or it might even spill out to the first week of May.. Whatever be the case it will be put up on the website SIES - College of Management Studies .. Keep checking the homepage and you will be good.....
Phew that was one hell of a semester.... One year of MBA gone and it only seems like yesterday when I was waiting with baited breath for SIESCOMS PG- short list.... :)

Time sure flies by fast ....

After an action packed first sem where we were just getting accustomed to the MBA way of life ... We were pushed right into the middle of another semester ...

Semester 2 was much similar in terms of academics but what was different was VIRTUALITIES.
VIRTUALITIES is an annual event at SIESCOMS where we have a eminent corporate speakers come to SIESCOMS and give their gyaan about the corporate world .
It is divided into 3 main parts: Parivartan for Marketing, Mudrank for Finance and Nirmaan for HR It was a 4 day event spread over 2 weekends
First two days i.e. the first weekend we had the corporate event and the next 2 days we had the inter collegiate student event where student from different part of the country visited us to participate in management events.
As soon as Parivartan was over we were again engaged in the entire admission procedure which I am sure all of you are aware of J Then slowly as the semester was ending we were all huddled up in our final submissions, vivas, tests etc
Now we are all waiting for our summer internship to start in a few days.

Good to see you back Sir.
So how was the party? Best of luck for ur results.

(1) Sir, Can u throw some light on internships..........? I mean whether u have to go out and apply to various companies or the companies visit the campus and take the interviews.....?
(2) Sir, as I belong to Engineering Student Freternity, where students pass their exams just by margin. Could u pleases tell me what is the criteria in top clgs like SIESCOMS to pass.
I mean how much emphasis u people lay on ur vivas, projects and theory exams. In our engineering clgs maintaining good relations with the faculty is a sure shot way of gaining high marks in the internals (includes vivas, projects, practicals etc.), no matter how good or bad student u are. How is the scene in B Schools...........?

I know I am asking too much questions, but pls bear with me

Thanks & Regards

Answer : For internships very few companies actually come to the college.. Usually the students are called to the office premises for interviews.. The college takes the entire responsibility of getting you placed for teh internships. but incase you have preferences of a sector withing a specialization then you also have an option of asking teh placement cell to get that company to campus. If even that does not work you can apply yourself as well...

Answer: Getting marks will never be your concern once you enter a B-school. If you are serious in your assignments/projects .. You will barely need to put in much effort during the exam.. Regular reading is the key. I'm an engineer too. I was accustomed to the one month study leave that I used to get before exams and the exam itself used to go on for a month with ample holidays in the middle... But here there is a study leave of just one week and the entire exam gets over in 5 days with 2 papers per day... so you can guess how you will have to change your pattern of studying... Good relations with the faculty is helpful, but not for marks.. The faculty members have very good contacts in the corporate world.. So staying in touch with them will help you in the long run......

SIESCOMS SIESCOMS !!! Its almost 2 months and trust me i am still not able to figure out how time flies so fast. July we stepped into siescoms after numerous pre-

meets that we had ranging from lounges to tall grass to even lonawala. Each one of us had some or the other hope about siescoms. We had definitive mind set of how the

life at a b-school will be. Almost all of them had this thought that we are back to college. And what we had literally was something out of the box. Each and every

minute counts at siescoms. we are thought how to work only here. And ya most importantly we have just fallen in love with it. Tell me one thing how many of you here

would be able to make a presentation as a group in 2 hours and present it in 10 mins? We did it!! How many of you would love to skip your lunch just for sake of some

ppt ?? we did it!! How many of you here would sleep at 2 and wake up at 6 in the morning?? Yes we are doing it !!! Its never intended to scare you guys but the truth

is we all love doing it. Each and every siescomite loves work now.

My bschool life started on a very positive note. We had a Induction programme and trust me guys all of us loved it so much. We dint know our seniors were so freaky

types. If you ask them to dance they will do it next minute. A play ?? Ya they will do it next second. Previous post cgeorges did one head banging stunt and we are

still trying to match up with his speed. A very friendly programme we had and it was full of life!! We also had few activities like Treasure Hunt and even some games.

Mostly we had this boy girl on stage act for which i escaped during induction process but later got caught in internal events. Ya internal events is conducted amongst

ourselves and every week we have dance drama some games and most of the time it turns out to be a stress buster. Now lets come onto faculties, iam a finance ardour and

for me my god is sitting right on the first floor. We call him crr sir he is enriched with 36 years of experience in the field of finance and once he comes and takes

class people will start feeling how down to earth one person can really be. Then we have many more subjects like organizational behaviour taken by dean HR Vazrani sir

who used to answer all your queries previously on pagalguy. Then we have our very own Sandeep sir who takes statistics and trust me guys he is one of the best faculty

siescoms has or will ever have in the coming years. And about the daily activities we have one group for every subject. Yes one group of 10 members each from different

section moving from one section to another every other minute. Idea Research, Ob research, marketing ppt, Gnrl Mgmt ppt.. what not !!!

Library the best place to be in the campus literally. You get all the books from library and most of them are hand picked is what you can say. More than library we

have one unique thing "Proquest". Its an information hub with full of research articles, basic articles, reviews, HBS Reports and different news articles from across

the globe. This you can access and more or less its like Google. We would have played almost 20 management games so far and around half of them was very new for me. we

have our finance club which is running really very active with a group of 30-40 students attending every week for a discussion. And ya iam proud to say this thing we

have got a very highly talented batch where every other day we have someone or the other winning some competition in mumbai and one guy went even to delhi and came

back with first prize.

And right now our seniors are getting ready for their placements and trust me every one deserves the best of career as each one is highly talented. Even we had an

event recently LA Melange, an alumni meet which was highly successful and very much appreciated. So thats it iam enjoying my college, RD AND ITS VADAPAV,Dosa plaza,

finance club, 10 different groups with 10 different people, all my friends and ya most importantly iam enjoying my work. Iam loving it !!!!!

@ Kashyap,
Very well summed up bro....It has been really really great times that we have had here at SIESCOMS...

Would like to add on somethings that I found to be awesome here....
We had an event called Vyapaar organised by our seniors for us. It was an event where we had to use all the concepts that we had learnt or read in our 2 months at SIESCOMS...Now more about the event...

As the name suggests, it was an event where the contestants had to do real trade and earn profits in order to win the event. What made the event even more interesting is that the budget for each team of 10 members , was ` 2000. Also, contestants were not allowed to trade in FMCG products. So, the contestants would have to use all their creativity to manage the tight budget and win the event.
The Trade Day was on 16th September, 2010. On this day, the teams from PGDM and MMS courses from SIESCOMS had to do the actual selling, and the actual exchange took place. Students were just allowed to book sales and purchase orders and promote their products in the period preceding 16th September.
This event taught us a great deal. We got first hand experience in negotiations, working in a team, selling and purchasing...

What I have written above is the media release for the event thats why the difference in the font. :splat:
The fun that we had during this event cannot be measured...Working out deals till the malls got closed, booking sales by approaching all the faculties and finally putting up a sold-out board even before the trade started....

These were some of the high points during the event....
Looking forward to many such events in the future....
Will right more soon...
