My Oh My!!!!

wat a fantastic end to a fascinating 2 day show put up by the seniors .... Being in the midst of a great National HR conference..
Friday- 5th Oct
wat a fantastic way to kick things off. we the juniors came at the Hilton Towers bang opp Marine Drive and yo!!! the confernce was at the rooftop. Two days on the 33rd floor , amidst great HR professionals , and the who's who in the industry ..
Started off with the welcome address by Mr S.M Dutta , Chairman Advisory council, SIESCOms and then our Director Dr.Sengupta. followed by Nina Woodard, Executive Director- SHRM. we were thn enthralled by Miss jaya Row with a talk on "Spirtuality in HR".

We then moved on with the Module on Talent Acquistion with panelists like
Mr Awadesh Krishna-Head-Hr, Lehmann Bros, Adil Malia- Head-HR Essar grp. It was moderated by the ever so gentle yet brilliant Mr Vivek Patwardhan- Gobal HR head- Asian Paints. Great disc and sum exciting words by Mr Malia concluding the session with an equally gr8 Q&A; session ..
Lunch!!!!!!!! at The Hilton towers was 2 good and lip smacking .

The next post-lunch module inlcuded recognition of two great management leaders &thinkers; of contemporary management for their contribution to the HR fraternity . Mr Sharu Rangnekar and Dr P.N Singh. Must say only their physical age shows on them . wit wise they easily beat Birbal anyday .. It was a great moment for SIESComs in recognizing the great work done by the these stalwarts .
Tea break..well taken and completed ..
The last leg of the day - focus now shifts to TALENT DEVELOPMENT. Nina volunteers to moderate this last panel discussion. (How sweet of her to stay on for the two complete days of the event .we at SIESCOms thank her for this !!!)..
Mr Sanjay Muthal HR Head-Nicholas Piramal India & Anjali Raina , Country Training Manager-Citigroup.

The first day ended among gr8 knowledge exchange ..2nd one was promising to be even better... i'll be back with an update of the 2nd day of the conference.

Cheers

Dear friends...

We often use the phrase from the horse's mouth...Ever wondered what it meant? Well if you were at the NATIONAL HR CONFERENCE ,you would have understood the phrase at its best...

So, we r finally done with the NATIONAL HR CONFERENCE...at
The Rooftop, Hilton Towers, Nariman Point

The whos-who of the industry were there for the seminar...
5th October, DAY 1 began with Ms Jaya Row, Founder, Vendanta Vision talk on Spirituality In HR followed by Ms Nina Woodard, Director, SHRM, India talk on HR Facing the Music

The first module on Employer of Choice Talent Acquisition we had
Mr. Adil Malia Group President-HR, Essar Group
Mr. Awdhesh Krishna Sr. VP & Head - HR, Lehman Brothers
Mr. S. Srivasthsan AVP-HR, Sony Entertainment
Mr. Thothathri Raman Consulting Editor, Business India, Delhi

n who better than Mr. Vivek Patwardhan, VP-HR, Asian Paints as a moderator.

As the second module began. it was a bit contemporary & amazing to see a Bschool give Felicitation for Lifetime Contribution to HR to eminent personas who have contributed theories, practices , and to say so...their Lives to HR...

Prof. Sharu Rangnekar Management Consultant
Dr. P. N. Singh Chairman, Grid Consultants
Dr. K. N. Sharma Retd. Sr. VP Personnel, Godrej Soaps

A very smart close for Day 1 was the crisp talk on Doors to Sustenance Talent Development

Ms. Anjali Raina Country Training Director, GCG, Citigroup

Mr. Sanjay Muthal President HR-Nicholas Piramal

With that Day 1 came to an end...

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 2 on 6th October began on the rooftop with Tea Coffee and the best cookies in town..

The day began with the discussion on R Cube Rewards, Recognition and Retention moderated by Dr Devendra Nath, EVP-OD, Larsen & Tubro

The honorable panelists for the same were
Mr. Ramchandra Rao President-HR, Hinduja Group
Ms. Sanghamitra Ghosh Director-HR, Zee Group

Module 5 kickstarted with CEOs Perspective HR as a Strategic Business Partner
I believe something better than this couldn't have brought an event of such a big scale to an end...
The dais was blessed with

Mr. Jalaj Dani Executive Director, Asian Pains
Ms. Anita Ramchandran CEO, Cerebrus Consultants
Mr. K. A. Narayan President-HR, Wockhardt
and the panel was moderated by a person who was absolutelyfab..Mr. K. S. Kumar, EVP-HR, Fullerton India

Then came the sumptuous lunch by the Oberoi Kitchen...
A few short meets during lunch where the corporate bigshots exchanged valueable tips to the budding management students..

All in all..I can say only one thing...the whole event instilled a real taste of HR in the minds of the corporate HR managers who were there as delegates and majorly students..
Surely a major value add to us all...
Thanks to SIESCOMS...

Santa dude...After almost 3 months in SIESCOMS-ville I am actually loving the aura of the place...The other day I went to one of those many temples in the campus. It gave me u a serene and calm environment to focus on my Research project man...

I guess a peculiar thing about SIESCOMS is that it has kept a balance between the culture and the fast growing pace of management knowledge..

Also friends you'll be glad to know that now the pace of corporate interaction has increased a lot too..Initially the corporate refrained from coming to Navi Mumbai, but now the corporate biggies are often frequenting the campus..

Check out the SIESCOMS Blog by the students :-
Siescoms Weblog
One of our batchmates, Yogesh Sangewar has also taken an initiative called the LEARNING CURVE where each week a SIESCOMS'ite takes an initiative to value add the others..In the bargain the whole of the batch gets the knowledge transfer and there is a growth in the knowledge banks of the students...

THE FINANCE CLUB started by our jolly-good-fellow Rohit Musale is also catching the eye of all SIESCOMSites...In this each week the Finance gurus(thanks to the BCOM+MCOM+CAs+3yrs workex junta we got )

share their expertise about the financial world - equities, mutual funds, share markets and everything in the finance umbrella...

All I can say is that one event creates a benchmark to be raised by the very next...Guess thats what life @ siescoms is all about!!!

Hey Fellas,
The General Management session yesterday was pretty cool...what say?
Its movie time..lolzz
Yups a new initiative that we have taken up...any lecture that would have a relevant movie associated with it...we play it up for 2 hours n then discuss the concepts related to the chapter with respect to the movie will be discussed...

Like yesterday we had a session on leadership and we first saw the movie:-
REMEMBER THE TITANS
It was a good movie n the audi buzzed with claps as Denzel Washington, Will Patton took the TC Williams Team to victory...

Dear friends

Greetings.

We have taken a new initiative.

This is known as "Idea Innovation". This is a world of ideas. SIESCOMS is providing a platform for all its stakeholders to promote new and innovative ideas. These ideas can be new product or process idea for any segment of business. For example, it could be a totally new banking product or insurance product or a new technology, etc. The only requirement to feature in this place is that it should be totally original and tangential and must emanate out of box thinking.

If any idea is good, the institute will consider filing patent for the same.

There will be a competition for the best idea under the scheme

To keep the matter confidential, a separate e-mail id has been created in the name "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx".

We will come back to you in case we need any clarification on the same.

My 2 bits after a long time.... Time flew like breeze and before you could say :Semester", the exams are here. Its time to test our knowledge of MIS, Economics, FM and other mind boggling subjects... It is nerve racking yet exciting too, it feels exactly like the first time I took my board exams (thankfully i took them only once, and got thru)
Well the journey has just begun, this is phase one, the next phase is going to be even more fun, considering the kind of activities we have seen in the college. I mean placement wise. Now I am not allowed to spill the beans, but I feel more content today with my decision to join SIESCOMS 4 months ago, what with the kind of companies coming here.
As someone rightly said, "From small beginnings come great things" SIESCOMS may not look as jazzy as some of the other MBA institutes but we have begun making a mark.... and we will try our best to make sure that by the end of the 2 years, SIESCOMS will be at par, if not better than some of the best institutes in Mumbai.....
Amen

oh gosh!!! a 360 degree turn..the ever so fun luvin crowd is taken away by the exam fever ..virtualy evry lil corner in the campus is abuzz with Acc and MIS discussions..seems like v r waiting t get done with 1st sem .. by the way 2 a day for 5 straight days can be taxing ... me jus back frm home .and I am terrified to c how much i have to study .

currently swtching between muggin and understanding .... will choose the latter may be ..hehehehe
