Santarocks:
hey Santa pretty much right.
I mean I was just shocked to see that its been more than a week that we have written anything, either on bog or on Pagalguy.
Its been a hectic weekend.
Recently we celebrated Teachers Day.
There were lots of songs and shayaris :))
We enjoyed a lot.
This is the platform were the talent comes out.
And man i should tell you guys, we have a hell of Talent in our college.
We can easily form a Band.
One more thing last week's Corporate Interaction was mind blowing.
We had, you will not believe, MD of TATA industries in our college.
So watch out the bog spcae for more on the Speech.
Till that time you guys can find out who is the current MD of TATA industries.
wat a grand saturday...( cant be called hectic ..all we had to do was jus listen!!!!) .
it was time when seniors got down to business and put up a great Retail Seminar titled
"DETAILLANT"( french for retailer).
Imagine, having Ms Roopa Purshottaman ( Head-Economic&Str; unit)-Future Group. She shared with us a report she had made about "Is Urban India really urbanized?"
Then we had Sachin Marya- CEO Retail Magazine.
This was followed by Mr Sumit Sahay- Head- Marketing &Sales; Infiniti retail sharing with us key notes on "Footfall Management" ..gr8 to hav an IIM-A grad share with us gr8 details....
S . Ranganathan Chief of Ops-Shoppers stop startled us by questioning us.. footfall again..
4-6 PM- The last leg of the day ..but probably most interesting one. The HR panel discussion.. Our own Prof PP Roy, Naresh Mehta -Raymonds, Rupesh Basu- HR Head, Hypercity Retail..and Srees Prabhakar. The topic of discussion was Critical HR issues in retail. Gr8 thinkers in their own fields , had gr8 ideas to share . Q&A; round as usual was good , made a few heads turn tho... All in all a gr8 day for wannabe retailers and for ppl like me 2 ..
Special mentions -
Rajpal Singh Ghai- our own ex-SIESComian. kudos to him to get gr8 speakers to his alma mater..
Raheel Merchant- senior in his own right . bags the Samsika award for the Best Summer project , which is a rolling trophy. Kudos Miyan!!!!
All in all a gr8 day . hav to move .Its a sunday and thr's the Personality dpt session scheduled at 10. the stress buster is back again ..
Thanks
Santarocks

I guess the retail summit was one landmark in the SIESCOM's journey towards success
The session of Ms.Roopa Purshottaman ,Mr.Sachin Marya was damn good.
I mean this was one summit that gave a complete overview of the retail sector
Where its heading and how does the youth contribute in it..
Santosh I'm sure u wud agree on this ...even after that 9 to 6 session we werent exhausted..
Also what Ms.Purshottaman had said...the difference between the growing india and growing china...
The gap between Rural and urban in India is decreasing while in China its increasing...phew
that stats spoke a lot man..I mean even if we think of cross sectional analysis...it helps!!!
Looking forward to further such events..
wat a day that was..

The experiential learning program was more than "EXPERIENTIAL"... sans the late start and the jam on the Ahmedabad highway evrythin else was fantastic ..
Then briefing with the teams followed by the gentleman who has been an avid trekker all his life, with Keyur Kapadia - our guide and trek lead to Vajreshwari(correct me if I got that wrong).. sum 5 KM'd off Vasai Road... remember we had all left home at 6 AM ..and it was 10 when v started the trek.. a small hike of at 1.5 Km's but still no sign of breakfast ..I cud make that out frm the anxious faces..but no 1 still outta spirit.. the flame on the shiv ling was a clear symbol of what believes ppl hold in diff parts of our country ...1 cud c a lot of ppl meditating early morning .the place has an amazin sense of silence ..wud luv to b back ...
back to the base resort .. we had this gr8 game of main poha/sandwiches- with role reversals of couzzzz.. the guyzz try their hand at poha and the gals on sandwiches...My team finished 1st(yuppie!!!) and a gr8 poha we made..and then had a gr8 brunch ... happy to make the food ourselves and devour it ...
then the gunny bag and skip game ....Raghu's team won it ..but he wasnt once satisfied with the goodies he got for that ...
Then the rets period ... followed by lunch and then the ball pass game ...
The real stand outs were to c ppl skippin ... sum were jus hoppin the rope ...
a good tiring day cums to an end ....was funn..I am sure more to cum ...
(wil be a busy week ahd with submissions and stuff)

Well its been a long time now, As santa rightly said this past week has been very hectic, and the expirential learning was a real good idea. Esp the cooking breakfast part. Wont forget that for a long time. Sriram made some real yummy poha, for us hungry souls
Out CL/TL Santa was hopping with glee as we began the trek, but i guess somewhere down his avid trekking streak was not fulfilled by the short trip, as to me, surprisingly i enjoyed it too.... and am raring to go for a longer trek, provided Santa gets some time and plans a nice outing.
And guess what santa was wearing a CP Tee..... (certified pagal) man was i jealous...
Anyways apart from that it has been a real busy time, with sponsorships, going to colleges, meeting with people, trying to make them cough up money.
And trust me its real tough too.... ask Anmol.... my marketing chuddy buddy...
We now will be having tests and assignment deadlines fired at us like bullets... so i`d better get a move on...
Till next time....
i am feeling guilty of not able to post on pagal guy.
sorry guys.
Filhaal i have just dropped to say that, the article on MD TATA, Mr Chaukar has been updated pls check it.
Mr Chaukar - MD TATA Industries Speech Siescoms Weblog
The experiential learning was really really awesome man. Imagine that you are hungry like anything, that is after a long session of trekking. And now you are asked to cook your own breakfast, it was really challenging. But everyone of us did it well and we loved to eat like "BHUKKADS". The games were also very motivating.
The best part it did was it brought the whole of the 120 students very close.
hello guys me back with mms news (sry couldnt contribute much as i was sick)

Santa or Anmol, plz update something realted to Iner ALia on the blog
Hi all,
Back after one helluva time mannn
Thanks to the event we had..INTERALIA..Which one can say was a success..
Heres a snapshot of it
SIES College of Management Studies, Nerul welcomed all TYBMS students to its management oriented intercollegiate workshop, 'Inter-Alia' on the 22nd of September 2007. 'Inter-Alia' brought out the managerial and the latent potential within the TYBMS students when they would deal with the practicalities of the corporate world.
The workshop was based on Case Study Analysis by University Professors, followed by a Panel Discussion wherein the gurus from corporate world will be throwing light on what awaits the budding management students once they step out of college and thus help them take the right route.
The panel included:-
1)Mr.Amit Saboo ,Consultant PCI
2)Mr.Ajit Khurana,Owner of Peek Seekers
3)Mr.Sundar Sarma, Head HR,KPMG
4)Prof.Anil Menon, Faculty at variuos colleges like SPJAIN,SIESCOMS etc.
They discussed at large on careers after BMS and helped students develop a thought process, to achieve their goals.
Friends, SIES College of Management Studies (SIESCOMS), a B-School which has always been involved in novel activities and events has organized this one of its kind event for the undergraduate community.
Now we r heading towards the next major event by our buddy Krishnan..WALKATHON..
3 cheerz to SIESCOMS

Santarocks
After a gap of 2 weeks the leadership lec series was back in full swing ... time for sum retail gyaan . hence e-retailing was the flavor of the day .
Mr Sankarson Bannerjee, CEO of Future Bazaar.com had a great information session . Our topic of dicsussion was relevance of internet in India and the growing e-retailing sector ... we discussed abt the prospects and limitations ...
The best part of the discussion was discussing the relevance of e-retailing from a
"Rural American"Vs "Rural Indian" perspective ... brought out a lot of points from the 180 strong audience yesterday .
The offline talk with him was also really fruitful ..
On a separate note thanks to Prashant and Anmol for putting up that gr8 show on The Telecom sector gyaan .
Kudos to Yegnesh and Sameera for bagging 1st prize in the AdMad contest at Father Agnel's college of management .
The week thats gonna be will be the most hectic with all sorts of submissions ..still will keep postin if sumthin keeps comin up....
Cheers

OB Game.
Guys this was one of the best OB lecture i ever had.
We played a management game of BROKEN SQUARES.
We were divided into teams(not group) of 5 ppl and one moderator.
Each member in a team were given pieces which eventually made a square.
The trick was not everyone had sufficient pieces for their square.
Instead they were jumbled across the team members.
What we have to do is take which eve piece fits our square from other members.
BUT,BUT,BUT without uttering a single word.
Once every one completes the square, the moderator jumbled it again and gave us once.
This was repeated 5 times, the group that made squares 5 times First were the winner.
Man the Class loved the game so much.
