Hi Natz... Thanks for welcoming me so warmly here...! 😃 Here's a reply to ur post... U know what? The syllabus for MMS changes every 10 years and so I wasn't really sure if I was doing the right thing joining this course...But luckily for me, with our batch (2007-09) the syllabus got revised...! All the prescribed books are at par with what most PG courses of good B-schools (which ofcourse includes SIESCOMS..!) recommend... As far as the theory part goes...I wouldn't deny that MMS guys really have to slog it off....(sometimes we have lectures till 6...) but doesn't the real challenge lie there? To be able to handle books and all the tonnes of activities that go on in college...Ultimately the onus lies on you right? Trust me...if you really want to find time for something you WILL find the time for it....irrespective of whether you belong to MMS or PG... No MBA course can revolve around just textbooks...It's not possible...And in case you are unaware, every 100 mark paper is split into 60 marks written test and 40 marks internals...and can u guess what these internals comprise of? 😃 Management Games, Presentations (you're going to have scores of these...!), quizzes, case-studies, class participation...(yes u read it right!)...and I'm sure I still would have missed out a few things from the list... So, in short, my answer is, it is not the course that you opt for but how you choose to turn it into an opportunity... I hope I have answered your question.. :) - Roshni, MMS 2009 batch and member - Placements, SIECOMS
Hi Rosh,
That was a wonderful reply!! Clearing all my doubts in one blow...swoop!! I'd like to compliment you for your 'sizzling simplicity'. How beautifully each n every point was made clear!! Well, after I gave my CET 08, I was sure to score good enuf to enter SIESCOM MMS. But, scored just 120 (96.5%le) :icon_cry:. I am an open category mum univ student. Well, saare sapne kahin kho gaye...:frown:. I'd get IES or MET this year...don't think its good for HR. If I try next year...it will be my third attempt:eh:...dunno wat to do??? Anywayz, great input by you guys...surely a great contribution!!!
You know sometimes I feel, Pagalguy shud have this 'Fan' feature (like in Orkut). I surely am fan of all SIESCOMians!!!

hey... thanks for replying ...I was going thru the placement figures posted @ SIES site and was quite surprised to see that very few ppl opting for systems... is there any particular reason for that?? .. Now i'm having second thoughts of doing PG frm SIESCOMS coz I want to do MBA with systems spec only coz I come from comp engg background(2006 passout) and I have almost 2 yrs of work exp as a .Net developer. Please advice .. thanks in advance ... bye..

well theres no particular reason for that... To start off thats a general trend anywher...u'll have maximum people doin Marketing then finance (current trendz say finance is equally high) then comes HR /operations and then least number of people doing r in systems Also u must be knowing the apathy of IT Industry right...the rupee appreciation n all..that has provoked people (aspirants in any BSchool) to look @ greener pastures like Finance (profiles like equity reserach n investment banking) which pays u like crazy...
Nother reason is the high entry barrier in MBA Systems ...u gotto be an Engineer or BSc IT/BCA to do it...so that stops people from getting into it...
Good to kno u got a BE Backgroun...me too passed out in 2006 comp engineering from Mumbai Univ...worked as an SAP executive for an MNC for an yr or so..then MBA from SIESCOMS... ATB n C yaa

hey thanks again ... what you say makes sense ... probably that's the reason why ppl don't opt 4 systems spec ... but for someone like me having spent almost 2 yrs in IT opting for marketing or finance is not a good idea .. thanks for your advice tho... bye..

hey nothin like that...surely if one is determined to go for systems..he/she does extremely well... as i told u..our dean for systems Mr. Upadhaya,an ex-SP Jain faculty... has a rich experience n has been the pillar to its success...He can mentor u really well...so dont worry!!! ATB for future!!!byee
Hey I got thru pg !!! just wanted to ask whether it is possible to commute from andheri daily or it is better to look for accomodation @ nerul itself.
hi...peopel do commute from far off places but yea...its actually stressful if u consider the hectic schedule.. what I wud recco is u wait for a coupla months....see how u can cope up with studies n extra currics...n then take a call..accommodation is no big deal here...its pretty easy to fetch one...n we seniors will surely help u guys!!! byee n TC Also say hi to ur batchmates here:- meet ur batchmates here :- http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/mat-st...rants-118.html (SIESCOMS Aspirants) and here http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/mat-st...ml#post1111446 (Siescoms 2008-2010 Results Out)
