Hello Friends

Accolades to the internal committee for their creative and entertaining event absolutely well timed with a jam packed audi!!!
Brand garage session was an enriching session... Such mind boggling examples and such deep insights which didn't allow me leave the session despite the irresistible dozing due to the late night action packed movies. All my dear friends i sincerely applaud ur efforts for such a session.

Cheers!!

sorry guys there seems to be an issue with my settings pl excuse me..

Ok guys the next committee in the line is PLACEMENT COMMITTEE.
The most sought after committee in probably every college. The roles are to get more and more companies on the campus, most importantly seeing the need of the hour. Training people to get ready for the corporates.

They look after both the summers and the executives.

The best part was they asked each and everyone the choice of the industry and the companies, so that they can try to match the choices.

We are currently under going a corporate readiness program for each stream.

Blog schedule :

MONDAYS : All about branding : Sponsered by Brand Garage.
Tuesdays : Economics : Sponsred by our very own GS :))
Wednesdays : SITE/PRODUCT of the week - sponsred by CNBC/Techtree
Thursdays : Specialization/Industry Times - Sponsered by IBEF/etc....
Fridays: Bloggy Quiz : sponsered by Rediff/etc

Life chuggin along the fast lane!!!!

submissions &Budget; presentations ..getting ready to grill the juniors in the Admission process ... and attending Finance Club &Brand; Garage ..

Talking of "Brand garage"- The mecca of branding, Adv &New; Age marketing at SIESComs, we had Murli Krishna , Alumni SIESCOMS, Batch of 2001 visit us at Brand Garage.. Murli is The Group Account Head- Ogilvy &Mather..;

He spent a good 4 Hrs with us in an interaction understanding Brand successes & their successful communication strategies ..

He was then joined by his gang of batchmates , Akash who's with Yahoo and Vikram .. The other member who was missin was Anand Narsimhan ..

For guyss who din know Anand Narsimhan is that Sports presenter at Ten Sports , previously with ESPN.. They had a gala time sharing their experiences &the; mischief they did in tunin SIESComs upside down while they were here...

There are 2 programs in SIES
MMS - cutoffs last year were around 145 - 150 in the Maharashtra CET (written + GD PI)
PGDM - AICTE approved course, has a separate admission process, process consists of 2 Personal interviews (of which one would be on analytical ability) and 1 group discussion,
You can fill up the form online for the PGDM course and submit it. PS The last date for submission is tommorrow ie 3rd March

No negative marking anywhere

So hurry up.....

U can call it hysteria .... we can call it chance ... and in India they say"Religion personified".. yes the gods in blue did it finally .Traditionally know as Chokers , the Men in blue delivered in unexpected quarters-Down Under...

Imagine the a bunch of 100 ppl being let off by the prof's to watch the winnin moments right under that 21 inch CTV ... and the scene of Pathan getting Hopes holed out to mid-on started the celebrations , the howlin &the; hysteria continued Till the Prof's stern eyes signalled to be back into the closed barracks ...

Life moves on with these "always-welcome-uncertainities" at SIESCOMS .

Admissions start in less than a week ..Lots of stuff to do ..hands tied down to say the least ..

Cheers

hey natz..
thnx for the complements...trust me...befor ewe began..we had no clues how its gunna be...
hope u all nex yr will make a wonderful batch n do better!!!
:bigups::bigups::bigups:
Hi Natz...

Thanks for welcoming me so warmly here...! 😃 Here's a reply to ur post...

U know what? The syllabus for MMS changes every 10 years and so I wasn't really sure if I was doing the right thing joining this course...But luckily for me, with our batch (2007-09) the syllabus got revised...! All the prescribed books are at par with what most PG courses of good B-schools (which ofcourse includes SIESCOMS..!) recommend... As far as the theory part goes...I wouldn't deny that MMS guys really have to slog it off....(sometimes we have lectures till 6...) but doesn't the real challenge lie there? To be able to handle books and all the tonnes of activities that go on in college...Ultimately the onus lies on you right? Trust me...if you really want to find time for something you WILL find the time for it....irrespective of whether you belong to MMS or PG...

No MBA course can revolve around just textbooks...It's not possible...And in case you are unaware, every 100 mark paper is split into 60 marks written test and 40 marks internals...and can u guess what these internals comprise of? 😃 Management Games, Presentations (you're going to have scores of these...!), quizzes, case-studies, class participation...(yes u read it right!)...and I'm sure I still would have missed out a few things from the list...

So, in short, my answer is, it is not the course that you opt for but how you choose to turn it into an opportunity...

I hope I have answered your question.. :)

hey roshni,
very well put...
guys most of the corporate readiness programs, the placements, guest lectures happen together...the value add is literally the same...
the good thing is tht since this batch...the MMS syllabus is revised...
so things r pretty common...
MMS vs PG...one thing I cud say is tht only the governing bodies r different...both being of the Govt.
MMS by Mumbai University
n PGDM by AICTE,Delhi...
so...as she rightly said...choice is urs...getting into each of them is equally tuf tho...MMS cuz u r in a pool of 1000s of applicants n PGDM cuz one's conversion ratio is too low...its almost 1:30
lolzz not to scare u guys...but jus to show its pretty much competitive to make it @ SIESCOMS either waz!!!
c yaoo!!:bigups:

whoaaa guys!!!
after a big big break...4 daz @ home, a JW Marriot farewell on 19th (n for me...a longgg break thnx to the admission process @ Delhi + D'dun) , the PG Mumbai Meet...yea was ther too...
the gates @ SIESCOMS were wide open @ bang 8 am...
as the last lecture for Business Law began, a few guys came in late...ahem...the prof being his generous best allowed them in...
few discussions on patent laws, infringements etc...I chipped in my engineering gyan on microprocessors' patents etc...lolzz...got a complement...tht finally i'm alive:dontgeti::dontgeti::dontgeti::dontgeti:

Then came the great Parsuraman Sir...our fav and one of the seniormost faculty @ SIESCOMS for Cost n Mgmt Account (yea santa I missed u...it was the last lecture...I still remember our first lecture...santa n me might have given hi-fis almost 100 times when sir spoke so good abt TQM,JIT etc) phew...it was his last lecture too!!

n yea...then we had apna CIBB lecture for marketing guys...phew...few cases n we were done...jus when i thot the day is abt to end...we get a news that we have our marketing presentations n unfortunately...my group were the bali ka bakras...
thnx to it...I'm alive @ 12:30 am...counting the stars n making a presentation on the sales n distribution study of music industry!!!
phew..God bless my soul guys!!!:dontgeti::dontgeti::dontgeti::dontgeti:
