cud u ppl throw sum light on pre joining assignment

0k...so now the serious stuff starts..our pre-joining assignments were two-
1. a project on CSR carried out for 5 companies by every student
2. chapters to be studied from the handout sent by the college in the subjects of marketing,accounting and statistics
well to acquaint all of u abt the CSR thing, CSR stands for corporate social responsibilty.Do a google search abt CSR and u will get a minefield of information.wat u had to do was to visit the HR head of any company and to get the info abt the CSR activities being carried out by that company.the stated task was to evaluate the contribution made by the corporates to the society in which they operate.but more than that what was important is that u had to get that all important visiting card from the HR head. and needless to say that we( the Class of 2007 ) did get the contact details from some very gud companies which as u knw wud hav helped in placements. as for the handouts do study them bcoz u will hav a test based on the handouts in the week that u join.
any other queries?

i had a mix of PSU's and Indian companies...but i agree wid jackie...ur project cud be different

what abt the laptop? i mean that if i intend 2 buy laptop thru the institute, then when does the buying procedure starts n hw?

2ndly do we get ny assignments b4 joining the insti?

n 3rdly shud i go 4 accounts tution(i am an engineer)?

1.buying process for the laptop will start arnd july...
2.obviously u will get the assignment before joining...why else wud it be called a "pre-joining assignment"?
3.Depends upon u...not a necessity though...

the avg salary for the Class of 2006 ABM was sumwhere arnd 4 lpa...though i am not sure abt the exact figure...and u wud get the pre joining assignments as well...didnt u notice the selection process for ABM was the same as the IB one?

These are few of my queries
1) I read in the prospectus that we will be given a set of books. Can you please tell me what kind of books are these? And names of the few books.
2) Our registration is scheduled for 3rd June. What exactly is to be done at the registration?(apart from hostel allocation) It looks like I may not be able to come to Pune before 8.00p.m. on 3rd June. So is it fine if I come to SIIB and register on 2nd June.
3) Can you please tell me where (company & city) have you been placed for the summers.
4) Is there really a field trip to JNPT port as mentioned on the website?
