Placement for the Class of 2007 at SIIB was a resounding success. The placement week was in first week of December06 and in this period 112 students of MPIB were placed in 34 companies. Similarly 43 students of the MPABM program were placed in 11 companies. It must be highlighted here that a total of 69 companies had registered for the final process of MPIB and this figure stood at 22 for MPABM. Needless to say many of these companies had to leave empty handed.
As per the college policy, a survey was done amongst the final year students to know their sectoral preference in which IT/ITES and BFSI were the top draws. So the final line up of companies was skewed towards IT and BFSI. The major recruiter this year included

  1. IT/ITES - Covansys, IBM, HP, Infosys, Wipro, i-Flex and Infosys BPO
  2. FMCG LOreal, ITC, SAB Miller, Asian Paints, Nerolac
  3. Research and Consulting Accenture, Deloitte, IMRB
  4. BFSI GE Money, HDFC Bank, Citi Group, ICICI Bank, Irevna Research, IDBI Bank, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Kotak Mahindra Bank
  5. Services Thomas Cook, VFS
  6. Manufacturing Trident, Sterlite, John Deere
  7. Agri Business Monsanto, DSCL, HyperCity

In terms of numbers, IBM and Trident each picked 9 students from IB batch and Monsanto picked 4 students from ABM batch

As far as the statistics go, the highest salary was 11.75 lakh/pa for laterals and 10 lakh/pa for freshers for the IB batch. For the ABM batch the highest salary was 7.6 lakh/pa for freshers.
The average salary for the IB batch showed an increase of 30 % over the previous year. It stood at 7.55 lakh/pa as compared to 5.8 lakh/pa last year. Median salary stood at 7.20 lakh/ pa.
The average salary for the ABM grew by 49 % to 5.20 lakh/pa from previous years 3.5 lakh/pa. The median salary for the ABM batch stood at 5.05 lakh/pa.

The bigger picture this year however is not in figures. This year excellent profiles were offered to students. Apart from International Marketing and Supply Chain which is what SIIB is known for and which is what ITC-IBD, VFS, Ceat, Sterlite offered, students also got profiles as diverse as Corporate Finance, Domain Consulting, International Market Research, Product Development, Derivative Trading, Equity Research, Wealth Management, Treasury Management as well as core Sales and Marketing profiles. Also three excellent international business offers were made in manufacturing sector.

This years placement record reinforces SIIBs place amongst top B Schools in India.

Anusmruti, the annual alumni reunion of Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB) was held on January 6, 2007. The event was the home coming of the 97 batch. The event showcased the spirit of belongingness what the batch has with institute even after a decade.
The real change which the batch 97 noticed is that in these 10 years the institute has advanced enormously in every which aspect; infrastructure, the new campus, number of faculty, number of course offerings, number of application received and most obviously the sharp rise in salaries. On the other side what the current batch got to know that in the span of 10 years the alumni has moved on to bigger things professionally. It was really inspiring to see the growth achieved in both the sides.
The event was an informal one; more like a family get together. Just the batch 97 and the faculty who taught them were there and were accompanied by batch 07 and 08 and the current faculty.
The event started mid day with grand reception of the batch and their interaction with current faculty. Real core of the event was the introduction of 97 batch to the current batches. The format was a presentation with the pictures, nick names and description which was collected from the batch itself. The real fun was to see that how the external personalities change along with time but the inner driving forces remains somehow same even after this long a time. Along with the introduction every batch mate talked about their experience in those days and the changes they are seeing right now. The Director, Dr. Rajani Gupte, felicitated them with the memento and slam book.
On this occasion SIIB launched its Alumni Portal. This is meant to increase interaction between the alumni and the institute.
Event got a colourful hue with a series of cultural events. Every bit of it was a enjoyed by the alumni as it had the tinge of nostalgia and humor. The event came to an end with the vote of thanks by Mr. Avinash Purandare (Faculty) and appreciation of the entire student team who made this event possible.
In totality, the event was a great interaction between current batches and the batch 97. It surely has strengthened bonds between the alumni and the institute.

Its raining parties this new year in SIIB. The season started with the grandest of 'em all...The Placement Party to celebrate the very successful placement of the Class of 2007. It was one evening to remember when even the director joined the batch on the dance floor and partied 😃
And hardly had the spirit 😉 of the Placement Party worn off...it was time for Lohri Celebrations ...and this time the remaining SIC campus colleges also joined in the fun...kite flying, DJ and music and for a change the mess served sum palatable stuff...urs truly though preffered to skip that

And frm the very next day..back to the usual grind of lectures..life is more tough when ur in the 4th sem

The annual sports week of Symbiosis Infotech Campus concluded this sunday. It was the participation frm all three SIC colleges in full strength. Events included Cricket, Football, BasketBall, Volleyball, Swimming, Table Tennis and the crowd favorite...Counter Strike All the events were held late in the nite to avoid any disruptions in the academic schedule...
The event was a big hit if audience partcipation is any parameter...crowds cheered wildly for their teams and the entire thing was in team spirit ;)
SCIT won the overall championship this year having won the cricket and football event...my last sports week in the campus 😐 ...will definitely miss the late nite matches

Gud Question..umm...the fees that has been charged includes mess and boarding charge...books...uniform and sundry other expenses...if u are looking for the avg monthly expense...well the answer really lies in what u wud like to spend ...if ur one of those kinds who can palate the mess food..and dont dig the idea of eating out...and neither do u shop and party too much..well 1500 bucks a month is more than enough...but if u wud like to spend on either of these things...food, fun etc...well u can spend as much as u want to...any other clarifications?

Neelabh

Hi,

Guys.. How good (or bad ) is the food at the mess?? Also what is the scene with travelling? i mean how frequently can we leave campus??

Also, since the station is quite far.. how many times does the bus go towards the city?

regards
Sriram

Food ?!? umm..tolerable is the word i use...but people who hav spent sum part of their lives in hostels tell me that it is gud by most standards :satisfie:

Buses ply very frequently between city and campus..abt 10 rounds every day...so not much problem as far as commuting is concerned...cheers!!

As many of u must hav noticed...we had been running a banner campaign on PG Forum abt the RD Aga Memorial Lecture Series for the last fortight..the event was held yesterday..the theme being "One Can Make A Difference" ...presided by Chancellor of Symbiosis International University Mr SB Mujumdaar and chaired by Ms Anu Aga..also present was Ms. Meher Pudumjee..the present chairman of Thermax...this event was differnt frm other such events held across B Skool campuses..the line up of speakers was an indication and when the spoke ..it became clear..they were not driven by profits
Mr Rajendra Singh...the waterman...Magasaysay Award winner...talked abt sustainable model of development..and use of traditional knowledge..and hw he bought water to dry river basins in arid region of Rajasthan using tht knowledge...
Mrs Zelma Lezarus...CEO Impact India Foundation..talked abt the Lifeline Express intiative that has changed the lives of thousands of disabled people in India's hinterland
Mr Milind Bharambhe...SP Sangli ..talked abt his experience in changing the attitude and culture of police dept. in Sangli..and getng the dept ISO 9001:2000 certified for the procedural changes...
Mr Krishan Kumar...DC Nawanshahr ..cudnt be physically present due to extension of Model Code of Conduct in Punjab after the just concluded assembly elections..he chose to adress the gathering over telephone..he talked abt hw he bought abt a change in attitude of people of Nawanshahr over declining sex ratio...hw the illegal clinics carrying out femal foetacide were smashed leading to an arrest in declining sex ratio...
All in all the event was a welcome change for the students...understanding hw money isnt the sole driver and change can come frm within anyone of us...cheers !!
Neelabh

Hey Guys,

regarding the hostel.. what all facilities are there? do we have a TV in the room? i havent stayed in a hostel ever and staying without watching football would be a difficult taks!!
