EXPERIENTIA 2015

Praveen Kumar G.R.S I Year - MBA "A" Section

I walked through the massive gates of my college nervous, unsure, clueless and absolutely out of my comfort zone. I found my way to my preparatory session and stood at the end of the line. A boy came over to me and introduced himself. We started talking and laughing. During the course of conversation, I realized that everyone was new there which made me feel relieved.

Hitherto, my house was literally at a stone throw distance, but now my college was more than 15 kilometers away. In the beginning, I was feeling like a lamb which has to tread through a sway of abattoirs before reaching home safely. That inhibition lasted for a few days, and soon I felt more confident than a bird perched on top of a tree, with a crocodile waiting below. I made friends for life in this college. My Friends, whom I always reach out to for advice, for companionship, for impromptu lunches, dinners, and trips. I bunked classes to conduct events in our college, and participated in other college events too. These interactions made me more confident. They gave me good oratory skills. Raising funds from our college students for flood affected areas in Chennai and Cuddalore which makes me to be a perfect social human being. The experience inspired me to join a start-up in order to support humanity.

The boring lectures made me creative because I waded through them by sketching in the last pages of notebooks. I developed a new found interest in drawing and painting as a hobby. It also thought me the power of internet and writing in my own words the knowledge I had gained. This improved my writing skills. My college life helped me identify myself. More than Java and SQL it helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses which will go a long way in my career and life. It made me an independent and creative individual.

My college introduced me a new and various things that will develop new interest from this exposure, and also be exposed to new clubs and activities. It helps to find a balance between studies and social life and hope to offer leadership qualities to the college community. Also my college isn't only meant to get us ready for our possible careers, it is also a building guide to teach us how to live on our own and fend for ourselves.
