Apoorva, that movie has too much of SINGHing and danSINGH for my taste. I wonder what made Roma laugh so much in the train, while watching it.

Busy times at XL, so this thread is rather deserted...
The summer placement process has just begun, so attending PPTs, keeping business suits ready, running to and from lectures, and preparing resumes is what keeps us busy nowadays. And of course, in between, vellas like me will keep coming here, and writing about what's going on...

Ab aap log nahi likhenge XL k baare mein to hum jaise bahar ki janta kaise jaanenge kya chal raha hai wahan?? Was going thru the Summers of '08 thread today and quite a few XL walas got great profiles. Do post the profiles offered for this year on the Summers of '09 thread
Was toooo busy in MAXI work. Yes MAXI has started working again. MAXI junior organized its first event on 26th Sept and wowww... what a turnout we saw... 54 teams registered and 3 more had to be added on request. 57 teams and more than 165 people... that's quite remarkable.
All because of efforts from A, Ma, Me, R, T and V (Code names only...).
Name of MAXI + Great promotions + Great Rewards + Great Work = Successful event

story of Poor academics!!
I am a student of final Yr. BE. (CS) and i am preparing for CAT 08 .. i don't have much hopes from CAT 08 as i started my preparation few days back.. but i think i have some time left for XAT. but again my college exams will start in last week of Nov.
I don't know what to do.. i plan to take a drop for CAT 09 but then i think that with such a poor profile ...will i get admission next year ?? even if i clear exams with 99+ percentile ....
My Profile
10th 59% 12th 66% (with one yr. drop. in 12th ) BE 60% till now ..
I feel ashamed of my self .... i know i did a mistake .... but ... yaar do i have any right to live... or not ?? i have started working very hard now .....
I have a very strong desire to do MBA
i dint took my exams seriously .....in 10th 12th and BE... i was always busy with my computers R&D; work.. i cleared RHCE (Red Hat certification exam ) with all India high 98.8% and i am famous in my college for my programing expertise .... in my last semester i scored 92/100 in a sub. which of my interest (DBMS). My performance is outstanding in every thing i took interest in ..
and i have a very strong desire to do MBA from XLRI / MDI ..... i think i will be able to manage my studies their ... but is it possible to get a addmission ..... ??
My worry is .... will they ever give me a admission ...?? ....... and i can take a drop to give it a second attempt ... but i will do that only if i am sure that next year on getting 99+ percentile scores and preparing well for GD PI .. they will consider my case ...
please guide ..
and also tell colleges in XAT for me....(for my profile)
It's been a rather long hiatus, and I just realized that I haven't really posted here in a longish time. Currently, the English language uses a simile, 'dead as a doornail' and I certainly wouldn't want it replaced with 'dead as the Life@XL thread'.
All of us are tied up with filling forms, attending PPTS, and making and finalizing resumes for companies these days. There's barely a week to go for the process to begin. :eyepop:
And of course, project submissions and deadlines never seem to end. I've had 4 night-outs in this term already. :robot:
Anyway, will try and keep posting about what's going on....

Dude, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think I've violated any code of conduct so far. I guess being here for nearly two years has taught oldies like me a few codes and procedures too. ;)

After a long hiatus, here I pop again oh the (s)hallowed portals of PG. Long back the 's' wasnt part of the above statement. But that's what it has become.
Gone are the days when PG ment hours spent every day, every week, every month of the year; be it during the CAT/XAT season or during the lul in the summers. PG meant coming to office and opening the website first, even before checking those innumerable and can't-resist repeated forwards that have filled up your inboxes. PG meant an identity & a community that was understood all over the country to the extent that you could shout out aloud your PG ID in any of the mock/actual exams in any of the test-venues in any of the cities, and still you would find atleast one person telling you that he knows you through PagalGuy.
If QQAD & GD/PI discussions were the talk of the day during the Sept - Feb period, then Chit-Chat section was the place to be during rest of the year. Cricket Trivia used to be ruthless discussion on Sachin and who not! Avtaar contests, DG's antics, so much more! Even the birthday threads used to be so creative!
Sigh! Kahan gaye woh din. The only action I see is when some of PG's B-school articles tickles everyone's bottom! (IIMC anyone? 😉 )
Guess I'll stick to this section in the coming days only. Atleast I can hope for company from oldies who would still banter around to continue B-school enmities & similar discussions 😉
(s)hallowed indeed... last few days have been a roller coaster ride thru GDs and Interviews, and sleepless nites... for most of us... And for the day 0 signouts like me, its a mixed feeling of euphoria and the "oh-u-guys-get-placed-quickly" thing. funny things happening here these days... emotions running high and adrenaline levels higher... but the whole process is a unique experience... sorry for being so horribly mundane... i'm just out of touch I guess... c ya guys.. Rajdeep
PS... i bought and devoured one Raj comics today! it was fun!
Hi I am new to this forum . I am working in one of Top indian IT firms. I am planning to Prepare for MBA, But I heard from some of seniors that IT experience is not given much importance as far as admission to TOP B. Schools (such as IIM, XLRI or ISB) is concerned

Sachi, though this is not the right thread to ask this query, since you're new here, let me try to address it. (Please note that I am restricting my answer to XLRI, and am not commenting about ISB/IIMs)
Overall, the profile of a student is considered, along with the XAT, interview and GD (in case of PMIR) performances. If IT experience had been a handicap, we wouldn't have had over 30 people from TCS, Wipro, and Infy in our class of 65.
Experience does help, especially if you answer questions pertaining to it well in the interview.
