Life@ XLRI Jamshedpur

Hey ppl,

A post was due since a long time 😃 and here I am with it. Ensemble went off pretty well and I am really elated to see our efforts pay off. It had participation from around 20 colleges across the country. Mr. Kat and Kapila coordinated their events amazingly well. Akshay was sitting on the logs desk helping out the hot chics visting the campus ( sadly the guys accompanying them also had to be provided assistance by him 😉 ). It had been a really hectic week for me but all thnx to our awesome seniors who were ready to help you out with almost anything. Looks like Mr Kat, Kapila and me need to hit jampot roads yet again on bikes as time is running out and end sems are almost here. Will keep posting.

cheers,

After a week loaded with Assignments and Quizzes today Mr.Kat, D_1, Gaurav Garg, Gurvit and Ashish Sangwan accompanied yours truly to 60 ml.What an evening we had
Gunners winning 4-2 and MANU smashing a 7-1 win. Food was great.
Then we decided to play pool and teams were divided in two with D_1,Garg and Mr.Kat on side and we 3 on other.
Mr.Kat's team dominated the match till Ashish got us back in the game and the last ball had to be taken out.
Mr.Kat was full on laughing on me as I have very less experience in any indoor game. But at a very tough angle I had put the ball in and his reaction was as if someone had given him 420 volt electric shock:shock: (He was more determined in next match which his team won).
Later we were joined by our friend who we call L.C.R .Thankfully Mr.Kat took her to hostel  and I and D_1 were left to do what we do best, Karizma and roads of JAMPOT.

Well, guys it doesn't matter how big a city is or how many hang out points it has, what matters is your friends who make your life awesome.

January has been very exciting month till date with lots of assignments, quizzes and lot of learning. Regional dinners from various committees of XLRI brings us together and gives a chance to celebrate together.

Lohri :celebrations by SP@XI were unforgettable and yesterday's wonderfully organized JM@XI night. Food was as good it could get.

Main attraction was Handi-fod and yours truly was the base along with Varun Gupta, Ayushman, Tiwari and a couple more. Hasija, Inder , Mandy and Ameya were on our shoulders and our gutsy Aayushi:-P climbed over us and in 2nd try broke the handi:cheerio:.

Cultural night followed with drama and dances and it was fun to be a part of the night. Waiting for tomorrow, our Republic day.

Today seniors wrote their last exam and batch of 2011 have completed a journey which they started in 2009. All the committee hand overs taking place was a really emotional time for all of us at XLRI.

Yesterday night we did a skit for our seniors on how they have been helping us throughout the year and how proud we are to be a part of XL maafia. Soumitro, Kirti, yours truly,JD pappajee with our friends (XL ki kudian) were involved in creating a lot of laughter at JLT.

When we sang the song "XL meri jaan" and after that it was hugs between seniors and juniors as we wished them a great career ahead. Our class has been shifted to senior classroom.

Now ending with sumthng that has become my signature and I have no idea how. D_1 and Mr. Kat do this always in the class. This post wud be incomplete without them.
 to spirit of XLRI

Today the batch of 2010-12 have written their final exam of the 1st year of MBA at XLRI. We would be off to our respective companies in next week.

One year has juz wooshed past and it has been a gr8 experience.
In my company XLers will intern wid JOKA ReSidents which I am sure is gonna be pretty exciting

hey all wannabe XLers ....... the so called first yr is over, we can safely put aside the junior tag given to us.......... internship awaits us........

the third term for IR guys was very hectic, the KGB + ISI (initials of profs) completely kept us on our toes, u could hv seen it from the faces of people after finishing the last exam....... people started shouting and screaming in the exam hall once the exam was over, the profs were also laughing..... internship i hope will give us time to relax......

rite now xlri has a deserted look....... this term had lots of stuff, being seniors last term - we had n number of regional nites, cowbaxi was grand this time, many other nites, placements, holi, finally convo....... i was usher in the convo. presented the degrees & momento(the key to success) to B. Muthuram(Tata steel boss) to present it to graduating students.......... awesome feeling......

after the exams enjoyed the finals on the big screen - We became world champions ......... a fitting end to the first year.......

I guess seniors are busy with their internships and all that!! Still itll be good if this thread comes alive with their inputs now that there is a fresh new batch all eagerly waiting to get in!!!!

now tht the results hav been out 4 sumtime now i hope all the future XLers r njoyng to the max, coz dnt know wht awaits u.

Talked to lot of people and toured also.

Well those who want to know the experience will have ample opportunity for that. It is the tradition of XLRI where seniors always guide juniors.

Akshay, I just hope we live up to the standards our seniors have set. :cheerio:

Day 1 at XLRI was simply brilliant. After a harrowing train journey( a word of advice never travel by Moori express ) we finally reached XLRI. The stunning beauty of the campus and pollution free atmosphere was a nice change from my hometown. The rooms are spacious and hostels are really good. Mess food is also good but what we really enjoyed was the celebrations of birthday of fellow XLer in the evening. The party was simply awesome. Thus begins the journey......:-)

Puys, can anyone tell me which books for HRM are been used in XLRI HR?

Its now been a full week here at XL and life has moved into top gear. so here is a brief account of all that happened
DAY 2:- This was a rare free day as we had our formal induction scheduled next day. So I spent the day exploring XLRI and its surrounding areas and doing photography. Also met the fellow puys and made new friends. We all went to Jubilee park and lake the view was mesmerising.
DAY 3:- Our registration began sharp at time in the legendary TATA Auditorium. It was followed by a prayer session and then we were told the Internet policy, the library rules and hostel rules etc. We received a set of guidelines from each and a manual stating the dos and dont's. We spent the evening chatting and talking with friends enjoying fully the last free evening at XL
DAY 4:- Finally the classes began. Beautifully designed and fully AC they were a great respite from the scorching heat. We had intro to labour laws as our first class and I was amzaed by the knowledge of the prof. The feeling of Excellence had now begun to settle in
DAY 5:- Our first interation with seniors happened. They were really helpful and meticulously explained the life and culture of XLRI. Meanwhile the classs continued as life started picking up speed
DAY 6:- The seniors arranged classes for us. Sessions on the subjects like Accounts and Economics.Which even though were greek to my engineering mind were well explained as I got a great deal of confidence on how to handle accounts and came to know the intricacies of economics. The classes started at 10 pm and continued til 2am we also got our first assignments
DAY 7:- the procession of classes continued. It had been raining now since past many days and we got more of the assignments with stric deadlines. The seniors are really going out of their way to help shape these dull minds into future of XL. The seniors also introduced us to the various informal fun activities and boy the "session" was great fun......
So that sums up my first week at XL things have bcom hectic even though seniors r telling this is just the honeymoon period. Sleep here is a luxury and we are getting used to the 4 hrs sleeping pattern sometimes even less but the sleep in lecture halls is making up for it

Oh Yea I forgot the sports have started. With all the burden of assignments essays and ppts we still find the time for Football ,TT etc, speaks volume of XL culture
So here r d results that i know of
HR girls beat BM girls in TT
though we lost to BM in first foortball match but no problems we will bounce back hard

Well thIS has been a wonderful threads that have portrayed the life at XL beautifully, specially the descriptions by bugs bunny and ninja talli, this is the a small tribute to the same with seasonal updates and some freshness , and its time to continue the legacy..:)

This is a naive attempt to present the high definition frames of a Journey towards and into XL...with raw info to the very core that might get available.. of course the usual sarcasm, filmy lingo..and back stage scenes shall be shamelessly recorded and presented here with full honor.

Ok..to start of with, lets talk about the protagonists of this to be movie..and also the place where the scene shall be set..ya ya.. you got it right..of course we will be talking about some too old for toffee school kids. Its just that instead of some bright and avid faces you shall see some sleep deprived monsters with inconsistent stubble growing out of many visible places. and these wont be the happy go lucky students with a lolly pop in their month and a Milton water bottle hanging in front of them.strapped tightly to their shoulders.

And not to forget another characteristic of these innocent little kids that their morning pleasantries usually consist of the cult MC ,BC and DK Bose series (new addition). And the knickers (i hope I got the K right) in the uniform have gone to the next level with 2-3 and in some cases 4 piece business suits(even am still to see one yet)

Oh..well..seems to have been a long thread intro post..already.. So guys if you have reached this far in this post, its good if u are a mod or a passionate PG follower, or you really need to get a life..

So to sum up, in a typical business style..(am still learning to conclude) We would try to bring you the journey from outside and inside of XL.. Our reporters will try to reach every small corner of the XL campus and update you with the happenings and status wherever possible without infringement of any copyright or someone's privacy.. till there are so many books piled up before me that I don't even get time to pee or the red marks due to repeated spanking on my butt turn black..

happy bhai and others ..apne perspectives do..@seniors, sijee Ashirwad..:)

i guess a lng time since ny of the snrs posted on this godly thread

@jnrs: welcome guys/gals to the campus, hope ur njoyng ur start . njoy the monsoon til it lasts in every sense, hindi films ki tarah gaana gaana hai toh gaa lo, bas bata dena kahan ga rahe ho

waise hope tht u ppl r getting time 2 sleep, n r havng a gala time

cheers

Sleep is a big luxury which i enjoyed in plenty today as we had a free lecture

I am sure phattu would be jealous of me for i got so much sleep he is already getting black circles underneath his eyes. Now i dont know if its bcoz of lack of sleep or
What made the day special was the lecture by Professor Manish Singhal. that guy is amazing. It was the best lecture of my life. Really enjoyed it very much ( Never said i would say this bout a lecture):D

Yup...happy...sleep mention mat kar yaar...Ek to pehle se hi ankhe bahar aa gayi hai..Aur dark Eye circles to itne sare concentric circles ban gaye hain even fair and lovely wont be able to help..

But the schedule rocks...Except for the back ache..no breakfast, no bath and deo dry clean..dark eye circles, headache,, and a bed that has 2-3 books, a few newspapers a dozen notes, a bag,a jeans 2 tshirts a few pen, laptop and its adapter on it..you still manage to push these things to a side and get some sleep on that bed..

Typical schedule.

8:55 get up...
8:59 rush to the clasroom, no breakfast, belt half hanging out..

1 pm lunch.(first stock of carbohydrates for the day hit the throat,,ahem and its just heaven)

Classes till 5 pm
Come back and sleep.(if you really want to)

Otherwise carry on with your assignments..or case studies etc etc. or just gather in a room..and start singing some useless song .

Some people have the courage to go and play football, basketball etc etc

Fallin for evening classes usually around 10 pm..the classes continue till around 3..(I just came back)..And then usually an ice breaker and Xl culture introduction session that continues til bout 5 am..

Get back... Shout a little..make place to sleep on your bed..
And off to sleep..:) another day begins at 8:55 😃

Its been a few days since I posed a rply but it seems eternity. With friends around yo the hectic schedule doesnt seem hectic anymore. That we are getting a lot(really?) of free tym is anther reason for it but there hav been a plethora of activities to keep us busy. For starters there was a nukkad natak organized by DRACULA. nd the play that I wrote was widely acclaimed and liked by all, We came second thanks to Breezer:drinking: effect but it was a real fun actvity, getting to kw people whom you hav just met and then coordinating wth them to produce a masterpiece:D in span f a few hours speaks volumes of XL culture:cheerio:
then the sport events r already taking place with massive enthusiasm and HR and BM are at loggerheads with each other i field....
We also had some highly intellectual sessions with seniors where the legendary JD gave a sneak peak at what awaits us in the coming two years nd it was awesome:thumbsup:
The thing about XL culture is its a gift wrapped n layers and as you peel off each layer you get more excited as to whats underneath but unlike the traditional prank of empty package what we are getting is a surprisingly warm and caring family that takes care of you at each step grooming you and nourishing your soul in addition to providing the knowledge of lifetime that wold eventually make you command a unique position in society XL RAWKS
Phattu and NM are here with me as we are sitting in the library enjoying the chilling climate of the fuly air conditioned hall and doing some assignments supposedly)
Weather has taken another turn rains have stopped but clases havent and in addition to the classes that scorch you in air conditioned lecture halls its the sun beating the hell out of you.
but who cares as long as friends are there with you
