Yeah man, its true that Olam pays good. But thats not entirely true. Afaik, The location is somewhere in Tanzania or some African Country where the kidnapping by Pirates is a regular thing. I have heard that this Package of 65 lakhs includes 3 times payment of ransom per year to free you from pirates if u get kidnapped. From the 4th time onwards, u need to pay from ur pocket
And there is a good probability that u may not be kidnapped in a year so this part of salary is of no use Again afaik, there are many of such bullshit clauses in the offer letter. The in hand component may not be more than 15 - 20L which itself is certainly very good, but the working conditions will make you look at it as quite less P.s. Yea i know your from my fraternity. And thats valuable info.I dont think theres any point working for such a huge sum of money if you cant get a quality living out of it.Anyways thats my opinion.I probably wouldnt work in the middle-east,tanzania or timbuktu no matter how much they offer me

Hi..after reading the below comments..it seems that CA's stand a good chance in the IIM's..I am a CA and working with PwC (Price Waterhouse Coopers) and presently have a work ex of 9 months..I can take a lot of heart after reading the comments below..Can some1 provide me the student profile of any IIMs ? I have friends in Symbiosis, Pune who say that CA are not given much preference by IIMs and nor are they successful in getting attractive placement ? Is that true ?

hey puys i will appear for cat 11 and simultaneously will appear in ca final in nov 11... but all of us are aware of the fact that we have to fill out the cat exam form by sep end(though the interviews occur in march nxt yr).. in such a case will i be able to get the benefit of passin ca final (the results of which shall be out not before jan mid).. n i m sure of clearing ca in nov 11... pl suggest me a way by which i can benefit from my ca finals as far as gettin into premier b schools(iim b in particular) is concerned

Its good that you are working with a large consultancy firm , one of the big 4's.But i think 9 months of work ex is too less(can u elaborate on what ur doing currently?) Since you are a CA you already have completed your articleship of 3 yrs but unfortunately the numbskulls of IIM's dont count this as work ex.
Well your friends from Pune dont know what they are talking.CA's do get alot of preference especially now that the deans of top b-schools have realized the need for diversity of students is the way to go ahead.
Most of the class at IIM, atleast 85% plus will be filled with engineers with half of them being IT or comp science grads.So im pretty sure you will be one of a kind
During placements also you can get the best offers since you have work ex in a field where most of your classmates havent tread(most of the techies and engineers dont have any work ex)
So my suggestion is work for atleast a couple more years and then give CAT if you want to get into IIM's or GMAT if you want to go abroad
I just cleared and CA.I want to crack CAT or GMAT.
I have no idea about the same.can any1 suggest how I should go ahead.(eg.books,which b schools to apply,coaching,etc.)

Re classes, you can join CPLC, or Time, or IMS. I have written the names in descending order of preference.:
In India you can look forward to top 10-15 institutes of india, IIMs, FMS, XLRI, Sp Jain, ISB and similar institutes. If you are too keen on MBA then you could also consider, welinkars, sydnem and equivalents.
With GMAT you can also look for some good B schools abroad.

CA not having preference in IIM.Dude, get ur facts correct. iim-b are giving extra pref to CAs. And read the books by ex-iimites on their daily life in iim; then u will find how the non-ca students queue up to solve doubts with CA iimtes.

Hi rohit i think you have heard wrong..people with professional degree are given more weigthage..so dont worry you will have a good chance in IIMs..

i have cleared the inter level of CA in nov 10 and have been training since. my final attempt will be in nov 13. i took cat 86.18%ile with no prep at all. and i hav got a call from iim-khozikode. 1.should i write my ca qualification in the registration form as my ca is not complete and has two more yrs left in it? 2.how are my chances of getting into iimk? 3.even if i get through iimk, should i wait for next yr prepare well and get a better clg?
