- what kind of companies are approaching u?
1. One needs to appear for ATMA exam. This year test was held on Sunday February 11, 2007. For details visit http://www.atma-aims.org/atma.htm
2. With the ATMA score, You need to apply to the MBA Biotech program, PUMBA, Univ. of Pune. You need to appear for gdpi and final cumulative score is used for ranking. As on today - there are 30 seats for open, 30 are reserved. The break up of the reserved seats is given in the prospectus. For details http://pumba.unipune.ernet.in/
3. To be precise, the course is tailor made to meet the needs of the Biotech / Pharma sector. It is shade different from the MBA Pharma offered by some institutes. Since the industry is beginning to bloom, potential of job market is just unfolding.
word of caution: Dont expect pay packages comparable to their general MBA counterparts. Pay packages are increasing year after year. But this course offers a very lucrative exit option to the science graduates, with salaries far higher than anything else offered to a traditional science graduate.

Sasidhar
The Biotech / Pharma companies visits the campus for placements. Though Marketing leads the pack, other specialisations are catching up. This shld clear the majority of queries. Feel free to ask specific questions.
Cheers,
Sasidhar

Congratulations on your ATMA scores. The mantra to crack GDPI at PUMBA is simple and lies basically in your ability to speak eloquently on any topic under the sun. A basic awareness about current issues will be beneficial. Mock GDPI should serve the purpose. Wishing you all the very best for the preparations.

Good stuff Sasi,
Just to add on....the entire GD/PI process is conducted at the PUMBA campus. There is a gud mix of people within and outside the biotech industry.
Expect questions like-
1) Why MBA BT?
2) What do u comprehend in the Bio-Technology sector
3) U r favourite Biotech company
4) U r take on events and recent news in Biotech industry
5) Recent changes in the Budget which can impact the biotech industry...ur comments?
All the best
Cheers
Bear one thing in mind that you must come to GDPI well prepared. When I say well prepared, I mean guessing most probable questions and coming with ready made answers. Rest of things like cut offs are just speculations.
For the moment just relax and watch our boys get tensed in Caribbean islands....to get cup.

Hi RS,
Plz refer to the posts above....substantial info already exists...Just for the record. PUMBAs MBA BT is one of India's Top biotechnology course (Ranked 6th by Biospectrum in 2007 and 3rd in 2006)
Apart frm tht...u stand a very gud chance with ur kinda profile.
Cheers
thnks acad... keep in touch... i would be needing ur help .....
Pls refer my earlier posts for details

I can tell a million things about the course but what matters is your expectation and vision about where you want to see yourself 10 yrs down the line. U can pick any standard magazine like biospectrum, pharmabiz and read extensively about this sector. I guess you don't want to blame anyone for your career choice. So, Pls read and make a judicious decision.
