Does an MBA from a B grade School holds more weight or does an Msc in Management from top universities in UK like Manchester is a better bid.

Could anybody plz advice me on this.
Even I'm looking at MSc in UK. I think for MSc Scotland is a better option coz they give you a 2 year work permit after you finish your course. Strathclyde is a decent school.
Cheers
Coventry is supposed to be decent.... neone have any idea about Lancaster and University of Bath... both are supposed to be good... Bath has a special MBA degree for specialisation in Aeronautical Management.... Can anyone here through more light on univs @ UK.... Howz Edinburgh??
Well MBA is the higest degree that you can get in management....if you are looking for studying general management then MBA would be better but if you want a specialized course related to various functions like Finance, marketing,H.R etc then msc would be better...thats what i think.
Well on 23rd and 24th of feb their is uk education fair at Banglore at taj Residency..i attended it day before yesterday in Mumbai and i think u might get a beetr idea after attending it!!

Hi sheetal,
doing MSc leaves u with an option to go in for MBA after 5-6 yrs of experience. Though prospects after MSc is decent in UK, but again in rest of the world MBA is more acclaimed.
A-grade universities in the world do consider applicants having prior off-stream degrees in Management. Take good account on the university u apply, coz after PG the job market in UK for management jobs is quite cold as weather out there is.
hope u take a wise decision. BUt again ur work ex might get u an edge in the job market.

Hi Guys,
Good to see a thread dedicated for MBA/MSc in UK. I have a Question, hope someone can help me out in this. I am planning to do MBA/MSc in UK this Sep 06' with specialisation in Finance. Now, how much worth is it or how much value does the degree holds once i come back to India or in the Middle East (read Dubai).
Will a person be in demand in these places after completing a degree from UK?
Hope to see good responses soon.
Bye.

Hi,
i have done considerable amount of survey on MBA/MSc in Uk.
Ya traditionally UK and Europe MBA has value attached with Degree. But only degree abroad and no Job Ex will not get enough currecny back home. If u put on atleast 1-2 yrs ex and then return u can double ur package. I have my friends working in UK, who suggest that getting handsome sal is no big deal, can usually start from 3-4k/month, and might go up to 5-6K/month after two years. But growth in terms of designation and position quite cold , as europeans treat themselves masters in Management . But comming back home with relevant ex will get u the desired job and pockets full of Paisa.
cheers.

Hi Blues,
Man, Thnx for the info. Seems like u too are planning to pursue MBA/MSc from UK. Is it?
Well, anyway thnx. Where r u working BTW?
Looking forward to ur reply...
Hi All,
I am deeply interested to pursue a management course abroad.I just have a 1 year experience in IT industry and by the time i will be joining an MSc/MBA degree in UK I ll have a 2 year exp with me.Earlier I was interested in doing an MBA in a Top university abroad. But let me tell you MBA in a top university either in UK/USA means atleast 3 years of healthy managerial experience. Many people think a two year experience is enough. But when it comes to foriegn universities they really value your experience. They will try to find out how you have progresssed in those working years, have you shown leadership traits, have you managed people, have you been proactive or say innovative. So when all these factors count a one-two year experience will hardly matter.Yeah it may work in India where a simple stint with any company means work experience. Its hardly relevant wht u have been doing there!!!So for people with no or less(1-2 years work ex) an MSc from a good university is a good option. To put it straight MSc in Management is more of a specialization into a management stream like say finance, marketing,HR etc.You can then go for an PHd or also can join a relevant organisation. For peaople who are willing to change their carreer to mgmt side and have less years of experience MSC is a good option. Also once you are into MSc you will be into management job, gaining a 2-3 experience in that you can again go for a cool MBA from a top university.Of course the standard of university matters. As far as MSc in Management goes France is the best destination. There are 6 colleges from France featuring in Top 10 MSc in Management programmes(featured in Financial Times 2007 Rankings).London School of Economics features 2nd in the list. From UK we have Aston ,Lancaster,Bath,Durham,Nottinghamm as some of the schools featuring in World Top 40 rankings.Average salary varies from 35000 Euros to 55000 Euros. For all these info regarding MSc in management visit:
FT.com / Business Education / Masters in management
MSc courses in UK are 1 year courses unlike France.Tution Fees varries from 10000 Euro to 12500 Euros. After studyng for a year you can get a 2 year work permitt in UK.Scholarships are generally less in UK unlike USA.
So over all MSc is a good choice when you have no or less years of experience. And just shed the Indian mentality of "Will I get job/what about placements".If you have the potential u will never sleep hungry. If you are investing lacs, knowlwdge shud matter for u.Money will definitely follow.Just trust your instincts man!!!....
Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong or ask if any doubts.....

Thiss Piyush from India planning for an MBA from UK but I am kind of confused about which universities are worth trying for. I am not planning for GMAT but will be giving my IELTS. Also I have a work-ex of 3.5 years in pharma sector. Kindly suggest me some university which will be good for me, without asking the GMAT score. And how will it be when Ill return India? Will it hold the same value in India too?
And which places better for an MBA UK or Singapore.
Thanks.

hello aiyaz,
yopu can get a seat this year provided you apply for the sep-oct '09 intake. The universities don't have deadlines so you can apply whenever you want bt remember d earlier the better. MSc is management is an option for you considering you donot have work ex. Your aggregate is good. You can start applying by sending your transcripts and other documents. Once you get conditional offer from the university write IELTS and send them your score.
Let me know in case of any queries.
