Leipzig graduate school of management is Germany's best. It is pretty International too (70% junta in non-German). Check out www.hhl.de

Germany is not very famous for its MBA courses... Any particular reasons?? Just a passing thought though

Germany in fact whole of Europe(except UK) have been resistant to management courses as the route to top corporate structure in companies. They have always wanted technical guys with more experience to fill in those positions. It is only now they are opening up a bit.In Asia,Japan fits the bill aka Germany..

Hello,

Can any one help me about mba from germany . I just need colleges details .

Thanks $ Regards
Ali

Why Germany is my first question ? Any particular reasons and liking .. if thats case .. yeah leipzing mite be ur only bet else germany is traditionally not known for its MBA courses.. its not marketed and even the employers are not really bothered abt MBA graduates.. what matters are magister diplomas/(similar to masters) which gives footing in top companies and dont bother abt magister its a different system to what whole europe has... although everyone is still transitioning to bologna process...the truth is mba is not main pool of people for management jobs in Deutschland... its more masters guys who have more better footing ..

Balaji . i diasgree .. the problem is not management courses.. its more of marketability and saleability of MBA as a degree and that is predominatly absent in Europe for the simple reason the education structure is vastly different from rest of the worl.d. you will be 27 and still wud be in university doing part time work or internships or assistanships.... It works well for them as they space out time for gap year , intl travel/erasmus , gap working which enables MBA to be bit of oddball in the whole strcuture as people would have already gained their experince.. management courses etc during the whole time without an MBA.. thats why you dont see any school coming Central and Eastern Euripe and also majority of Western European nations promoting MBA as part of university courses Its more of adhoc, cash cow schemes etc .

cheers

Germany is pretty famous for its engineering, designs not for MBA. Germans do believe that management is definitely not made for them. This reasoning could be wrong as I am try to generalize about germans but please don't be offend.
I am saying this as I am working for almost 5 years in german company and I have interacted with hundreds of germans during my tenure.
I have also visited quite a number of times to germany so I have some facts ready to support my reasoning. Again I like to say that I dont have any hard core evidence.
ESMT could be another school which you have a look as I heard about an year or two that they had outstanding placement.
I am still wondering why Germany???
One must have quite a close connection with germany otherwise one would not have chosen this country for mba..:)

@vnbalajidce world is changing my friend and so is Germany. Good prospects for Indian managers in German firms - very good, I must say
I too was contemplating on German programs, but I discovered the followings constraints - for married folks, getting visa for family can be really challenging in Germany, as I understand you wont be able to bring your spouse/ kids on residence visa during the program and practically not before 3-12 months after getting job. Your spouse needs to clear German language course as well.

Secondly, the salaries post MBA from HHL, Mannheim or ESMT would be in 50-70k Euro p.a. range and Income Tax in Germany is around 40%. So after deductions you will have in hand of 35-50k p.a. and after adjusting all travel and living costs + contingency you can save of 1.5-3k per month (depending on location, lifestyle), which is ok/good, marginally better thn what you can save/ earn after MBA from Singapore/ India.

Btw German firms such as Adidas, Bosch, SAP, Siemens, BMW, DB are recruiting regularly from Insead, LBS, top US and Indian B-schools for local, international or German offices, however they do not seems to be recruiting regularly at top German B-schools, which indicates something...so I'm not convinced yet about MBA from Germany ! Would appreciate views, counter-views, additional information....

I agree with you .. some friends of mine passed from top management colleges in MBA are coming back to India . One of my friends is a graduate from top 20 FT ranking college in Europe and works in mumbai with very low salaries. Another one just graduated from top German college and came back to india, still unemployed.Last month, I also had a discussion with IE business school adcoms , where they suggested the expected placements could be depend on your past experience and your hardwork & knowledge and the numbers they mentioned were disappointing . However, if one is confident of settling in a particular country or doing MBA from a particular college due to compelling reasons , they can survive and make it to the top. But just following the trends and getting an admit to a top B School may not gurantee a good life soon after . The purpose of MBA should be learning and leadership first.
PM me for any particular details.
@mbagrail hi mbagrail, where are you based. Please throw some light on your plans and profile so that we can stretch the conversation further?

@mbagrail So do you suggest me to take up MBA course in germany and if yes then from whcih college?

dude...whats your profile? background .. and which industry do you want to settle in.. what is it in germany that you are attracted to ?

Dear all,

I am Inga, from Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, Germany.

I have went through your long discussion on the courses of MBA and overall studies in Germany and Europe, which sounded little bit surprising.

May I kindly note, that US and UK has been the choice for Indian students for so many years, that European Countries (except UK, which has different system) remained simply unknown to many of you, which is a little bit sad.

I would not like to agree to people, who say that we do not care about MBA, we do, however we look more at the person's skills and his abilities to perform rather than the degree title. It is true that Master, would it be MSc or MA is overall well recognized and companies consider it very well as it is your education and where did you obtain it that counts in addition to the personal qualities of yours. I find it pretty good that institutes provide possibilities to people start studying without work experience and gain it during their course. I believe it is also nice that people of different age may go for their higher education and the gap between studies will not be taken as a no for your better qualifications. Let's admit, people may have certain reasons which may force them to stay away from studies for some time, why should not they be allowed to do that later on?

Being a part of Frankfurt School, one of the leading private business universities, I would like to note, that we do offer well accredited programs in Finance, International Management and Management and do cooperate with worldwide companies, which hire our students not only in Germany. Business management programs are becoming more popular due to changes in the world arena and requirement for strong leaders. We could go through different generations and see how much it changed even in India itself, where Engineering and Medicine used to be a priority while today we can see people going for other courses as a new demand in the market.

One more thing to note, why could you possibly think of studying in Germany is its conditions offered to students: while quite many countries are making its visa rules strict, Germany opens it up and provides visa extension for 1.5 year after your studies so you could gain international experience. There are also various scholarships available, which make it easier for students as well as free education in some public universities which is not so common in other countries.

To sum up, you should list your priorities, take a look at the recent as well as future opportunities country offers, list the universities and programs and go for it. It would be to brave to say that one country is worse than another - different people if they are ambitious enough and ready to face challenges, will make their way in any place of the world.

Does anyone has any idea about Erlangen- Nuremberg university and it's programs. And how difficult is it to get admission. What I know from the university website that they provide masters not MBA. But if anyone can throw some light on the prospect of getting admission in an MBA equivalent program, it would be highly appreciated.

hi! I am an engg graduate and PG in financial planning and wealth management. I do have 3 years of work experience and currently working as a Financial Planner (CFP)-Certified Financial Planner in India.

I came across an information on an educational site about opening up of MBA jobs in Germany and how Germany is going through a transitional phase.
I have searched that there are several Universities in Germany offering free MBA program (Tution fee free) and also it was mentioned to have knowledge about German language (written & Spoken) to have better prospects for acquiring a job post MBA program.
I want to know the details about the universities offering free MBA and the cost of pursuing MBA from Germany. I also want to know about part time jobs availability for International Students in Germany.
