MBE-DU 2010-12 Queries Helpdesk

somebody said that its good that the exams are held so late but my poiint is that do u guys realise that if the exams are held late the results would also be announced late and by then all of us would have faced few GD/PI and hopefully would have converted them and we would be in a dilemma whether to wait for mbe or take admission in some other college !!!
think about it people...is it a boon or a bane?

I would rather say that you don't think about that at this point of time..Wait for the notification to come and then write the entrance exam.First create the choices and then think about the elimination.Do I sound like a hitler?Let it be.I know the worth of my course and I am proud of it.All the best for the other entrance exams as well.Anyways the last week of Jan means 24-25th Jan and that is not that far.Is it?

DU exam(MIB/MBE/MFC) results are announced within 7-10 days of the test date. This year we have seen how the IIMs spoilt an exam like CAT(CAT was the only option to many people till, let the other options grow, so that in future we don't depend solely on a single exam), it is time that we move out of our stereotype thinkings, if the DU courses want to establish themselves as a prominent identity where is the trouble. This year TISS too changed its exam date to much earlier and clashed with the JMET.
Besides the fee structure is very negligible(since the courses are govt. sponsored), and it would not hurt much.

We are in a rapidly developing country, we need to be flexible to changes.

Remember "Change is the only constant thing in universe".

I meant the written exam(not the GD/PI), the results are declared within 2 weeks of the test, i may be wrong.
I hope Shruti knows it clearly but it is unwise to bother her with this query.
Let the notification come, we shall figure out then.

Well,Shruti is here to help you but at this time, please do what you have to do ..Padhaayi karo aur tension kyun lete ho :aakhir uski jo tum log badal nahin sakte..Accept changes :)
Aajkal Shruti hitler ban rahi hain na :Anyways, the result of written exam comes within7-8 days and of GD-PI after 15-20 days.

About the exchange programme, thats not active at present but I would get details from seniors soon 😃

Confused over the choosing the regular MBA program or MBE?
MBA is not the only passport for the desired career in the corporate sector. The MBE programme at DU aims at blending the theoretical and practical elements of business.
The Masters of Business Economics or MBE programme at the Department of Business Economics, Delhi University (DU) is on a par with an MBA from a top B-school in the country. It is one of its kind run by any university in the country.
The MBE programme is an amalgamation of management, business and econometric techniques, which is quite different from the MBA programmes offered by B-schools in the country. Moreover, the MBE programme is an integrated approach to managerial studies. It provides a perfect blend of analytical, theoretical and practical aspects aimed at introducing students to the real-world mechanism.
This thread is here to serve as medium to guide you with doubts related to admission ,entrant test, course structure and anything related to the programe.

hello shruti,
thanks for all the information that u have provided us with, really appreciate it , i am new to this thread and i have some questions regarding the test pattern:

firstly, i had commerce in 12th, nd then did my BBM from Alliance Business Academy blore, under Blore Univ, so most importantly am i eligible for the exam comming from a non-science nd non-economics background?

secondly ,well u told that there is calculus nd stats, excatly what extent of calculus nd stats r u talking about, i mean does it include mean, median, mode with frequency distributions , standard deviation, regression, correlation all of that in stat, nd Limit,Differentiation nd Integration all of that under calculus, i am asking this coz i have done my BBM ,nd after my 12th i didnot have any calculus only business maths in my gard ,though i had full stats in the 1 yr of my gard but right now i dont remember anything of it , so to what extent does these 2 topics covered in the exam ?

thridly, is RS aggarwal gud enuf for qant,nd does gk cover mostly current affair nd business gk as like other exams or is it also economics oriented nd if eco oriented what kind of eco does it include, it is business related eco or those typical demand nd supply types?

fourthly, how different is MBE exam pattern from MIB, GBO , i mean is the difficulty level more or less same apart from the calculus portion of it , or is it on the higher side, or is entirely different like FMS ?, nd since there r 180 questions, so i guess it will be a speed based test , so in order to improve on that can i practice previous years MAT papers so as to work on speed, i am asking this coz even if the previous year MBE question paper is being uploaded on the site, i guess atmost it can be done for the last year 's which will not be eunf to improve speed, so can we practice Mat papers as replica to enhance our speed ,considering the level of difficulty of MAT in comparison to MBE ?

fifthly, from ur previous post i have gathered that the exam will held durring the month of march, most probably durring the fag end of march, from when will the forms be available ? nd i guess there are 53- 54 seats for general category, coz total intake is 72 with reservations for SC/ST being 22.5% and 3% for PH, so the total reservation is 25.5%, which will boil down to 53-54 seats for general category am i right ?

lastly, since there r 180 questions ,can u please tell me an estimated score(with sectionals if any), nd the minimum number of attempts that should be made, which would be sure shot for a call condisering the paper will be the easiest of all MBE paper till date for a FRESHER, i know its not possible to comment anything about the cuttoff score or about the minimum number of attempts, as it is relative from year to year nd people to people , but any gud calculated figure will do a world of good , i am asking this coz due to my gud luk or bad luck as u call it this year all the papers r comming damm easy , nd so unfortunately the cutoffs and attempts r going skyhigh, so this time i really dont wanna take any chances with the remaining exams, hence i am enquiring about these details

i know i have asked a whole lot of question at one go, and i am sorry being so overinquisitive also, but i do hope u would answer them as per ur time and convinience.

thanks in advance,
looking forward for an reply

cheers.
SHRUTI, Good to see that you have kept the discussion active, even when people seem to be impatient amidst uncertainity about test dates etc.
I have a few queries, the MBE site mentions about student exchange. Are these exchange programmes still available / renued/extended??? Also are international placements a regular feature. The website seems to suggest so. I was just anxious and wanted to know more about these facilities. How many students have been selected/opted for exchange? which universities/ which year students (1st/2nd)/ Duration of exchange prog. and cost incurred by individual students. Anticipating a quick reply.

Regards

Finally,I got to know that the department is open to these exchange programme but it has happened in the last 2/3 years and beyond that,I would have to ask my super super seniors about that:|Don't come with that expectation. It may or may not happen..Maybe you guys have to take that initiative to make it active again.
Well,Shruti is here to help you but at this time, please do what you have to do ..Padhaayi karo aur tension kyun lete ho :aakhir uski jo tum log badal nahin sakte..Accept changes :)

Generally people also get call from some other college .... so MBE also come with waiting list ... I think once you clear written then there is good chance you will get final call .... In my GD/PI group out of 12 ... 7 are in class now ... there may be two causes ... either we did a great GD/PI or because of high written test score ....

is the MBE form/notification out?

please reply asap
