Is there any prejudice against applicants who are not from economics/commerce background? i..e. I am from IT background (with 2 yrs exp) will work adversely against me during the selection procedure?

There are good number of engineers in MBE and MFC (refer to batch profile in the placement brochure). You should be able to justify to yourself first and then the interview panel why this course is suitable for you.
A basic knowledge of Finance and Economics will suffice.

Hi,

As some one pointed out the pdfs from NSE site will suffice but some of them are pretty lengthy. But given the limited time, you can catch hold of some B.Com or Eco friend of yours, and get your basics cleared like demand/ supply eqn, productivity, marginal utility and macro terms like monetary/fiscal policy etc

Basics of stats like central tendency, variance, correlation and elementary regression will suffice.

As far as interview is concerned, given your background you are more likely to be quizzed on Financial knowledge of the real world rather than mere definitions.

Dont get too worked up on Finance/ Eco now- but during the interview try giving an impression that you know the basics and want to explore further at MBE.

This is all what I remember doing for my MBE prep!

Adding to this part,you can read XIIth class economics books to clear the basics.There is no question bank available for this year's paper.However,it is recommended that you go through the last year paper of both the courses to get an idea.

You should brush up with Micro & Macro Basics using the Class XI & XII material but in case you really wanna be thorough you can pick up Amit Sachdevas/Dr Deepashree's Microeconomics & Macroeconomics book for a quick glimpse.You can ask some of your Bcom friends to lend you.You could use Dominic Salvatore for basics too..
Hi, I am from an engg. background too. The above fin/eco Q's you mentioned aren't tough at all. Basically, this kind of knowledge, we should be having at the graduation level, especially when we are targetting an MBA/ECO/FIN post grad. NCFM-Financial Market beginner's module is a good material for the above kind of questions. It can be downloaded from nseindia.com>>ncfm modules.
Also, you could try investopedia.com and just search around for finance/eco stuff on wikipedia. Coaching institute magazines may also have some good info. Other sources can be magazines/newspapers.

I agree with you....and yeah NCFM would be the best guide...

Unlike MFC ,MBE had a clause that people have to have 50 percent in each subject of graduation.I have done B Tech and studied 40 subjects .There are a number of subjects in which I could just manage a pass Now will I be able to apply for the joint exam or not.Which rules will be followed -of mfc or mbe...

The rules as mentioned will apply for the respective courses...
