Hey Guys, I am B.Tech. (Engg.) with work ex of 3+ yrs and currently working with Deloitte Consulting India, IT.
Selected for GEPI.
I have always been very interested in ad/media/communications management hence MICA been always there in my mind.
My problem is, I mean what I am concerned of is that, do people form tech/IT background with this much job ex join MICA? If they do join, or MICA admin choose them whichever way you see it, where they get placed? Given my current CTC (its 7+ lakhs, mentioning this might be against the forum rule, but its important here) what are the chances that I would get placed with a better CTC, of course provided that I don't bunk all the lectures 😛
I am really concerned for this. changing my track from IT with 3+ yrs to MBA is itself a big shift, and then that's more if I am pre-calculating everything and then joining a niche college which is pioneer in comm/marketing education.
I need views of the seniors here or whoever has a clear insight of MICA student profiles and placement records.
Could some clarify this.. What should one expect in a Group Exercise? @MICAstudents @KarthikSubramanianR
Am finding two different set of answers..
" Candidates will be divided into groups of 9 to 10 and each group will be given an activity, for instance, you could be asked to design a media campaign for a sports festival in a housing society. Each group will be given 30 minutes to ideate and present their task."
and the other being:
" A topic / case study is given to you.Ten (usually) options / solutions are given to you. You have to individually rank them from 1 to 10 €“ 5 minutes given for this and have to discuss for 20 minutes and get the group's top 3 out and write them down."
Could some one clarify what I have got wrong cuz these two seem very different.

MICA vs IMT-G Marketing any1 please ??
GE/PI in 2 weeks. I am with 3 yrs ex in IT, and of course enthusiastic for marketing, but had not targeted only MICA when planned for an MBA attempt 1 yr ago. Like anyone else had planned for a grade A b-school, general MBA and then may be if lucky then specialization in marketing. Should I consider MICA seriously (if at all I crack it)? Heard that they don't teach you many a basic general MBA lessons/courses? More importantly do IT guys with 3 yrs ex join MICA and get placed after 2 yrs?
