I too remember this magazine
must be in 4th or 5th standard.
I first read it at a doctor's clinic, and then later
had a subscription for quite a few years.........
.......yeah the paper was of really good quality ...... and yes
it had quite a peculiar smell.
yeah me 2 loved the book.........too bad its not there anymore
besides the smell n glossy paper
there was also a short story using russisn words which was followed by a crossword....i can remeber vividly one of them abt farmer and son ,that was when i learnt dew was frm heaven, hehe
I remember this magazine . it was just wonderful ! Also remember Target , chandamama ( virtually in every indian language ) and another magazine called Quest .
Misha had all these stories about the erstwhile soviet union . really cute π
Those days seem so far away now π . DOnt have any of these magazines now , they just remain in my memories !
There was also another for younger kids, called Junior Quest. I got a copy free once when Misha was not delivered on time!fireinice Says..and another magazine called Quest ..
hey iv got a whole load of them..well atleast a dozen or more..
got them bound n gagged at the bottom of my comics cupboard..
may I be honest..I thought they wer a lil how should I say it ..slow n unexciting ..mayb I discovered them late.. dont think this thread of misha lovers gonna take this lying..soorry guys..
Can I redeem myself on this thread if I say that a couple of science fiction stories wer really cool..(they wer few but wer genrally fun)
n yeah the names defntly adorable..Misha...
p.s.i think Misha was also the name for mascot of the moscow olympics..in 82 or 84?! amnesia strikes!
Yes, Misha the bear is a common Russian Mascot. I think like the old TV serials, perhaps those comics weren't good compared to today's standards, but it's the nostalgia and the memories that make them special for many people who are now our age.
Guess what, I stumbled upon this forum just to find out about MISHA, and what I see is all guys moaning like me of the golden years when they used to read this magazine by borrowing, subscribing, stealing , whatever .
I was really looking hard for this magazine for my little child, wanted her to enjoy what I did in my childhood. Found no links or address of the old publishers nor any information. A lot of books from russia use to come in those days. One of the popular publications were from Mir publishers, Moscow. But even they seem to have ceased to sell books in India. They had really good collection of translated, cheap, good quality educational books.
As of other Comics meant Indrajal at those time, Target was for those little grown up a nice mag with detective carton in front pages, an old styled Chandamama, or the rather funny Tinkle.
Really guys, If you do find some information do share. As of other thing I can see if somebody lends his magazine, that they are scanned and PDFed for all of us to share those golded memories of MISHA.

Welcome aboard, Bundya!
Misha has again started being published, there are a few email addresses in the thread you might want to write to. But in the '80s there were few quality options other than Misha; now there are many more choices to choose from for kids. Subscribing to Misha these days will be expensive. Also the original artists have changed; some are dead even!
that was the name i was tryin to recall the other day..
i remember the mag cudnt get a word though
wonder why my dad gt me a subscrptn

Hey yes!! Just You Wait .. The wolf with a long snout.. Faint memories!
Ya.I am a great fan of MISHA. I just joined this group today and I'm so surprised and ahppy to see ppl talking abt MISHA. I and my sis used to run back home after school every Saturday to grab MISHA. As kids we always used t oforegt on which Saturday of the month MISHA wud arrive, MISHA instiled in me the habit of reading, writing......I think I ahve a copy of MISHA dated sometime in 1991.:)
MISHA......I can forget you.:)
SameerSiddhanti SaysEspecially I can never forget its typical smell. It used to smell totally different.
.. i know what you mean! the kind of paper was rather different too. it used to be rather stiff, and the magazine had to be un-bent upon delivery. :)
one of the regular features that i can vaguely remember.. there used to be a robot of some sort. i think it was something similar to 'small wonder' on start-world. but i might be getting them mixed up.
we had a number of the MIR publications at home (we still have some). there were some amazing russian folk tales, some children stories ('when daddy was a small boy' π ), some novels ('the amphibian'), and a number of popular science books.
*sigh* those were the days..
Hey, gr8 to find a thread on MISHA, i loved it.....although dont remmember much except a few russian alphabets i learnt and i pen friend i mad....gosh, i'e lost the letters, the magazines, everything related to it :(
but its gr8 to see so many fans.....zimbly pagal!
I remember having subscribed to a kids magazine called "Misha". This was published from the erstwhile Soviet Union.
I have lots of fond memories of the magazine. They had a bear called Misha as the logo.
I believe they had shut down operations, and might have recently restarted.
Anyone remembers Misha? Have a scan or an old copy?
even i remeber the good old misha.
i had a lots of copies of it but during the course of time, distributed to others.
but was indeed a good magzine, amongst the first ones that i was able to lay my hands upon.
Remember being an avid reader of this book. Used to get it from my Dad's joint from where it was distributed all over the city.
OMG ...I had never thought I will be reminded of MISHA, which I used to read as a kid after so many days...at an MBA forum...this thread has made my day...I have lost all the copies...it was in 92-93.. would love to see some scanned copies...longing to smell the pages of MISHA...

Heee Heee
A czar remembering a russian magazine. Do you get the connection?
Czars are representative of russia and Misha was a russian magazene.
I wonder if this was intentional or incidental?
