i had a girl from wipro in my batch. i dunno why u guys are changing jobs. anyways, exams are held every year, on an almost regular basis. the results of the latest sbi p.o exams are out, so i guess it will be a long time before the next dates are out. there is no fixed schedule of either sbi p.o or ibps. keep reading employment news. (moderators, forgive me if i am giving these answers in a wrong thread. i guess, there is a different thread for bank p.o aspirants. this thread is basically for experience sharing, i believe. sandeep, plz take note)
on the contrary, since individual banks can in future decide on their own pay scale, variable pay may be introduced.

While industry switch and salary is a personal choice.
Regarding banking as a "govt job" myth....you should know that in the officer cadre you got to share lot of responsibility, achieve targets, show business growth, etc. It is not an idle govt job.

Think about your future opportunities in your current industry (current company) - Chances to get promotion, the levels you can reach in the next 2 years, 5 years & 10 years etc. If you think that you can't grow in your current industry, then you can consider a change.
When you move to a new industry, you will have to start everything from ZERO.
Banks other than SBI gives an average in-hand salary of 20k to 25k (Basic Salary-14400 + Perks) only. It will take minimum 7 years to get a 30k+ in-hand salary unless you perform extremely well. (As per the current scale). It will take years to get promotion and all.
Even though the salary is lessor, the important thing you have to remember is that Bank Job is more secure than any other private company job. So think properly.
Dear there will be hike of 30% in pay coming december in pay commision. Bank jobs are better than IT jobs for sure. There is security
Yes. There will be a hike in the coming December. I heard it will be 17.5%, not 30%.
IT jobs are better than bank jobs in terms of salary. Bank jobs are better in terms of job security.

yaar,
hike is done as per agreement between unions and gov.though the time is there in dec I dont think even demand charter has been finalized by unions. It would be 2-3 years of negotiations before they settledown for anything.also seeing the conditions of gov banks dont expect it to be much
Well i was thinking quite long ago to post my experience as bank employee in this thread, today i find suffice time and opportunity to do so..
Myself lokesh solanki

The tragedy starts after medical when all the 15 guys who had medical in jaipur zone got home posting and i was the alone to get other than home zone
i got rajkot zone and that was totally unexpected...
I shocked with this and i talked to GM-HR mr.R.K.Goyal over this issue...but that was not a healthy conversation from either side....
Hii Lokesh Sir, can u please tell whether BOI provides any training to new recruits before making them join the banks. If yes, whats the duration.
If BOI doesn't provide training, which PSU bank provide pre-joining training for max. duration.
Thanx for ur experience

And in the case of promotion, if you complete JAIIB and CAIIB, with in seven years you will become Senior Manager. For Senior Manager, You will easily get 75,000/- as per the present salary structure(including all allowances).
In banking, the invisible benefits and allowances are more. Usually people will not count these in consideration of salary structure
thanx
