I was planning to post this in one of the existing LBS threads but it would not have received the required visibility considering the programs reach. This is a good option for fresh graduates and those with near one year experience.
LBS has announced today a new degree program Masters in Management It is a 11-month full-time programme and is designed for people without work experience who want to lay the foundations for a successful career in business and beyond. It would be taught by the same faculty on a dedicated campus (Regent's Park) adjacent to the London Business School campus.
To quote LBS the program is for "top recent graduates who have less than one year's previous work experience and an undergraduate degree in a discipline other than business or management studies." If you have excelled in non-academic areas such as sports or the arts, or shown your leadership potential in community activities, this may also make you an ideal candidate for the programme.
The first intake is set to start in August 2009 and LBS has already posted application requirements and deadlines for the four-stage application cycle. Deadlines -
Stage 1: 05 January 2009
Stage 2: 28 February 2009
Stage 3: 31 March 2009
Stage 4: 30 April 2009
This program seems similar to the HBS 2+2 program. With LBS's career management infrastructure, global reputation and a top notch faculty this is a good option for people who want to dive in early.
From the LBS site -
Duration is 11 months - August 2009 to June 2010. The structure and curriculum are designed specifically for students with little or no work experience.
Programme Content
It consists of modules covering a wide range of fundamental knowledge and skills. These include:
- Financial Tools
- Accounting
- Economics (micro and macro)
- Markets and Marketing
- Strategy
- Individuals and Organisations
- Statistics and Decision Analysis
- Business and Society
- Careers
Career Workshops
Modules are supplemented with a number of career workshops to balance theory and concepts with skills and practice.
These career workshops have been designed with extensive input from many top recruiters to offer graduates a highly competitive advantage in the marketplace for internships and jobs.
These workshops cover three key skill areas:
- Intellectual, such as strategic problem solving, influencing and negotiation
- Professional, such as business communications
- Career, including networking and interviewing
Classes typically run from 9.30am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday. The days are full and intensive to offer students a complete immersion in the topics taught. However, there is also plenty of time for self-directed study, practice and reflection.
Teaching methods on the programme emphasise interactive learning and include:
- lectures
- smaller classes to develop in-depth understanding
- skills workshops
- computer simulation exercises
- site visits
- group and individual assignments.
The fee for a place on the Masters in Management programme starting August 2009 is 21,900. It does not include living expenses.

Guys. Even i have heard about this program and its sounds pretty good. Can any one please tell me whether they provide job placements after the Masters in Management at LBS.
hi Govi
that was some fantastic information..... thanks for the effort pal.......
what i would like to know, though, is what kind of career profile can be a winning profile for gaining admission to this masters course.... i went through the requirements page, and found out that GMAT scores above 600 would be considered, and scores above 700 would add weight to the candidate's application........ now, i was interested in pursuing this course.... i plan to appear for the GMAT in november-december 2009...... my profile reads - Std. 10 CBSE 83%, Std. 12 CBSE 70%, B.Tech from KIIT University, Bhubaneswar with a CGP of 7.85, paased out engg. this year, and am currently placed in TCS but our Dates of Joining havent come.... so I wanted to pursue this master in management programme..... i have extracurricular certificates till std. 12 but not many in college....... so considering my profile as mentioned above, and knowing the fact that i will have to score around 720-730 in GMAT, can I gain admission in this LBS masters course????????/ I would be grateful if you could answer my queries.................
