heyy all..
undoubtedly placemnts 4 btech is good..
but wat about mba placements..??
please enlighten..


placemnts for MBA is decent nt as good as BTechs for sure.....
Around 6 companies have visited last sem and around 36% placed till now.
7-8 more companies expected in this sem including few Public sector Banks. So we are expecting the percentage to go above 90%.
Highest package offered was 8.8lpa. Lowest was 4.23lpa avg above 6lpa till now.
Hope this give a clear picture.

What is the last date of application ??
Can we apply online or only DD method ?
When is the last date application reach institute?
GDPI will be conducted only at institute or any other center(s) ?

I've got 75.5 percentile & good acads, General category.


1.No online application only through DD.
2.Last date for receiving application forms is 31st jan.
3.Gd/PI will be conducted in the campus itself.

NIT surathkal is also known as NITK. And yes you are eligible and have fair chances of a final call. Apply asap and wait for GD/PI list.

Looks a bit tough, but i would suggest you to apply and hope for the best. All the applicants are called for GD/PI so you will get a call for sure.

Final conversion , will be a tough cal though.you will make it to first waitlist and hopefully you will clear it.

couldnt find anything regarding its MBA on PG so Starting this thread to help all.....
As i came to know from my seniors the college gives decent placemennts .

Don worry much abt GD/PI, as i cannot comment much abt the topics but it ll not be tough . PI will be normal so take it easy.

Do apply if you like to be a part of NITK, going with the past trendz u should get a seat but this year looks little tough.

Do apply to NIT Durgapur, Allahabad, and Krukshetra and DMS-Pondi for backup.

you have a decent chance.Apply and do well in GD/PI. All the Very Best.

For Engg yes it is way above all the NITs even above few IITs. For MBA NIT Trichy is the best. After that NIT Surathkal, then Allahabad n durgapur.

B.tech CGPA; 7.99
CAT 2011 score: 86.88 percentile.(is this good enough?)
Work ex- NIL(Actually passed out in june ...waited for joining....will this time be counted as a year wasted? )
Extra curricular- Attached with NGO"s Spicmacay, Hope foundation, CRY.


Is this good enough for conversion in Surathkal?

tanx a lot.....just one more query vikas.......what was the lowest percentile that got selected....the institute says they give 90% wtg to cat scores and 5% to PI and GD each.....so with 77%tile,,,even if i manage to perform well in PI and GD,,,what are the chances....am totally confused......tanx....:)

yes NITK stress more on your CAT score, GD/PI if you perform well you will push hardly 1 or 2 below your rank. But going with your CAT score you should convert it for sure. If not in first list then waitlist for sure. And waitlist gets clear don worry.
