dude..... u are talkin about 70 percentile !!!! it's hardly there lyk that .... they give call even at meagre score of 56 percentile also !!! i have one of my frienz who got call at 55 odd percentile :)
Last time around the administration showed sort of desperation in giving calls ... i mean , considering the BIG NIT status , they should ensure some high quality gets in .... and it is one of few NIT who admits students from ALL backgrounds..... pardon me .... but i don't want to compare NIT surathkal with BIG name of NIT trichy .... its WAY beyond NIT surathkal...... before applying to this college , GET SOME GROUND RESEARCH DONE MY FRIEND ...

Dude, getting a call is a different thing and converting it is a different thing! This year the last converted percentile from general category is around 76 %ile. And just to let you know, I had 84.23 %ile and my name was towards the end in the general merit list (4th from last if I remember). Lastly... NIT Trichy is 30 years old. And NIT Surathkal (NITK) is just 5 years old. But at the rate NITK is growing, in 3-4 years from now it will surely be the topmost NIT even regarding MBA. GET SOME GROUND RESEARCH DONE MY FRIEND ...
I am pursuing my final year of B.E. in Mangalore. I got 94 percentile in CAT. Does NITK prefer freshers as well? I have secured 86 percent in 10th and 12th. and have a current aggregate of 78 percent. What are my chances in NITK? as i wish to join an MBA this year itself
