NITIE PGDIE students witnessed an all time high salary package this year. Riding on a booming economy the average CTC soared above 7 lacs per annum. What more, even overseas placements broke all records with students getting placed in Singapore, Dubai, Tokyo and London.

All 58 PGDIE students got placed right in the first day. Around 100 companies had registered with NITIE for pre placement talks. Maximum number of offers were from Infosys(23), Satyam(14), IBM(12), Wipro(12), Barclays Capital(8 ), ICICI Bank(7), Procter & Gamble (6) and Asian Paints(6). The gamut of companies visiting NITIE campus this year ranged from consulting to banking and from Manufacturing to IT services. Some of the key players visiting on Day 0 of the placements were KPMG, TSMG, Ernst and Young, Accenture, SAP ICG (consulting); Citibank, Barclays Capital, ICICI bank (Banking); Colgate-Palmolive, Procter and Gamble, Asian Paints, Coke, Reckitt Benckiser, Gillette, Nestle (FMCG); and IBM, HP, Wipro, Infosys, TCS, HCL Tech, Satyam (IT).

Simple, this guy is already in NITIE and is faking his identity to make it seem like he is an aspirant who is helluva impressed with the placements.....so that other peeps also jump onto the bandwagon........a marketing tactic (or shud I say gimmick) used by some ppl in B-schools to make their B-school (or course) more "visible" to the junta here.

The fact is that the junta remembers such incidents as "That guy from NITIE who...." rather than "That guy who......".

By the wayPlacements seem to be good........

This is general seceratory of PGDIE-NITIE. We are extremely sorry for the above crap. The Placement article is authentic and so is the media team IEtimes. The above statement seems to be given by somebody just for the sake of maligning the image of NITIE, as everyone has access of the NITIE computers as the interviews are going for the junior batch. We are really unaware of the reason of such crap. We request the moderator to please take care that such post should be removed immediately.
PGDIE is a unique mangement course with one of the best placements in the country.
I reiterate that the article on the placement is authentic.

and I authenticate the reply and challenge my friend pacific blue to prove what he is saying

I am not saying that entire placement figures is wrong, but the claim that it is PGDIE

Placement is wrong and the claim that PGDIE is a management course is a lie

Challenge 1 : Go to AICTE site and check for MBA courses you will find that NITIE has permission for 2 MBA courses
PGDIM and PGDISEM
Where is PGDIE as a course?

Now go to Mtech Courses

You will find an entry for PGDIE It is a Mtech course

Challenge 2: Name the 12 PGDIE guys in IBM

Challenge 3 : Name the TSMG and Accenture guys from PGDIE

Fact is TSMG and Accenture only open for MBA batch of PGDIM NITIE
They flatly say PGDIE is not a MBA course


I would request somebody from current PGDIM Batch (MBA batch) to provide

the correct details for the placement figures for MBA Batch which are much higher

All this seems to be out of some miscommunication.

Yes, this is true.

PGDIE: entrance through GATE & GD/PI

But, do have a look at these facts, b4 u make any judgements.
1. NITIE stands for - National Institute of Industrial Engineering
The flagship course of NITIE is still
PGDIE - Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering.

It was incepted in 1971 to provide Indian industry cutting edge in Operations Management. After 34 years NITIE maintains its specialization in operations & supply chain management.

PGDIE is not the estimeed MBA Course from NITIE .
It isa Mtech course run through GATE


Again this is a distorted fact. People would think that b'cauz admissions of PGDIE are though GATE, its solely technical. NOT SO.

Industrial Engineering by its definition stands for management of
operations in any industry: manufacturing or services.

Moreover, just look at the course structure, u wud not find any sig difference
in PGDIM (so called esteemed MBA) and PGDIE.

Even the electives offered are same for both the courses.

3. Placement issue

The figures shown there for top recruiters include PGDIE e.g. Barclays Capital,
much talked about foreign placement, 8 offers =5(PGDIM) + 3(PGDIE)

No contentions about the fact that NITIE had flying placements this year.

The placement process for PGDIM & PGDIE was conducted together and was over in a sinlge day.To quote PGDIE official admission brochure, average salary is 7+ lacs per annum.

Above all, a personal advice to all the prospective students. If you have cleared GATE and want to get into management , PGDIE is your best bet.

Does AICTE Recognise PGDIE as Mtech
Ans Yes

Does AICTE recognise PGDIM and PGDISEM as MBA?

Ans Yes

Is PGDIE recognizable as an MBA deg or can be mentioned as one on your VISA

NO

What was first course in NITIE

It was EDP or executive Dev Program


Are there IIT and other Mtech guys from India who are allowed to call themselves MBA s (They might be in good positions in companies)

NO

So If you want to do MBA from NITIE

There is only two course from NITIE

PGDIM and PGDISEM

and they are through CAT


BTW Accenture TSMG P&G; and KPMG(to name a few) didn't take a single PGDIE Student

But they welcomed aboard PGDIM students with open arms

I request this chap..."eng_buster" to plz come out in open n stop this senseless spam posts. Just to clear the confusion, NITIE has two programs IE and IM. Placements for both the streams are held together every year. This year we had our placements on 6th Jan and all IM n IE students were placed on the 6th itself.

U can refer the NITIE website for individual course details, intake and student activities.

I believe tht some miscreants are just trying to create some problems and its advisable tht the prospective candidates use their better judgement.
