My TAPMI admission process was very good with an decent GD and an awesome PI (knew I got spot admission from the interviewer's response). As expected I was given an offer letter within 5 days with a term coined by TAPMI as "exceptional candidate". I accepted the offer with glee as that was my first convert. A couple of days back I got IMT-G too which I seriously considered, but did not go for as I felt there is not much of a difference btw the two colleges.
Later I cancelled my admission @ TAPMI as I got XIMB and eventually IIMs. The issue w.r.t TAPMI that I have to convey is regarding my friend, who also applied TAPMI and got GDPI call with a %ile of 68.xx. I know many of guys would have got calls from TAPMI with similar scores or even lower. There is one thing that you all need to know and keep in mind from here on.
The weightage for CAT/XAT score w.r.t admissions is not something like 30% or some weird formula which people from TAPMI are spreading. The students in admissions commitee are giving a wrong notion or rather a hope that all of you guys are having a chance, a mathematical chance as they say with one condition, that you need to perform well in GDPI. My friend had even called one of them (Viraj) and asked about the weightage and his suggestions. It is actually 60% for CAT/XAT and rest 40% based on GDPI and profile (wrk-ex,acads,etc). But with such a weightage which is similar to most of the colleges, I would say it is a tactic deployed by TAPMI to attract more applications and thereby earn a lot. I need not tell you how much a TAPMI application costs, how much they are gonna cough up every year.
I am talking based on sheer facts. I have a friend studying there (name cannot be disclosed) and she said there are hardly any people or almost nil with scores below 70 in the current batch. Also I am sure of the wieghtage for admission process too, because of two reasons: a) else my friend who did exceptionally well in GDPI would have got an admit (similar profile as that of mile, barring CAT/XAT score). and more importantly b) because I came to know about the weightage from an insider (a TAPMI faculty) when asked about the same. I called him (my family friend) up to enquire why friend is not figuring even in the waitlist. So, only then he opened up and confessed about the weightage.
Pls guys dont expect anything from TAPMI and if you get admission, with a low score, you should be really lucky! All The Best to all of you, Cheers!
I have come to this thread after a pretty long time.. Tapmi was my first convert of the season and is very close to my heart. I think the way admission procedure was carried out was wonderful and I am bound to believe that in a span of few years Tapmi will reach even greater heights because of the clean image they have maintained among students and recruiters :)...i was kind of shocked looking at the comments to defame a reputed institute like it...although i am not joining Tapmi but would have felt equally proud what i am feeling now (because of the institute i m joining)
I came to this thread just to say thanks to the admission department and seniors and wanted to share that i have got my refund of 24K (after deduction of only 1K) within 20 days of applying. i think this refund policy and the way the this procedure is handled, speaks a lot about any college..i was, am and will be a Tapmi Fan...\m/....
Come on dude..... Can you answer me that mate? If so, I will learn manners from you. Cheers!
My 2 cents on this matter... I agree the admission process could have been better streamlined in order to reduce the anxiety of all the aspirants but its transparency and integrity is beyond doubt. The prime reason in my opinion is the fact that we could apply to TAPMI even after the declaration of results. I am sure many people(including me) would have applied after getting their scores. Can you please tell me which of the following colleges is actually into minting money from the admission process.. 1. Your friend applies to some college A before the results are declared and then doesnt even get a call.(Been there) 2. Your friend applies to some college B after the results are out and doesnt get a call. 3. Your friend applies to some college C after the results are out and at least gets a call. The answer itself should be self-explanatory.. Personally, I have nothing against your friend but there are people(1 is a fresher in fact) who has converted in the exceptional list with a percentile of 78(If I recall correctly). And wrt niche profile, what exactly is the definition of a niche profile?? Someone may be good at sports, someone at acads, someone at some other form of extra-curricular activity... It all depends on striking a fine balance of all factors. Just cause someone dint get through doesnt give you the right to lambast a college. So do take all relevant points into consideration. Just cause he/she is your friend, doesnt give you the right to blast the admission process or the integrity of TAPMI or any other college for that matter. PS: Itz true that I will be joining TAPMI dis year, but dis post is with no intention of sucking up to Khanjan n Viraj. Its simply to address your misgivings in this case. PPS: Congrats on ur IIM convert!!
Guys! its a sheer waste of time and energy to explain something to a stubborn. And Nikhil one thing..ur really a good entertainer! though most of the things u said were guessable. No offences dude..you're entering in a new life..live ur dreams..
dat is what is happening...colleges like mdi,imt and new iims are taking average students based on their CAT scores...there are some people who cracked a 97-99percentile in such a substandard CAT paper and they think they rule this earth...these guys dont have minimum speaking or reasoning skills...and simply come to a point...well,loos for those bschools and gain for a bschool like TAPMI...who looks just beyond the fluke CAT marks... transparency and fairness at it's best...that defines TAPMI
The admissions process is not over yet. We have candidates who are awaiting the outcome of their chances. Can we put a ceasefire on the current discussion and focus on admissions?

Yea right, that is why the waitlist results are being delayed every week in spite of quoting that the results will be out on a particular date. There is absoutely no concern for people who are having to decide between colleges which are starting soon, to withdraw the fees from other colleges on time so that they get their refund and for people who will have to buyout their notice period when they convert at the last moment.

We have two choices : 1. wait patiently, 2. point fingers at the system. In case one feels the end result would be different, he/she is welcome to perform the intended action.
Please be assured that the institute is doing everything possible to communicate candidates about their selection. Yes, it is an anxious moment for candidates awaiting their fate. Waitlist movement is not a sole phenomenon dictated by an institute and is interdependent on other institutes too.
Request you thus to have faith in the institute. Best of luck!

People like me don't have enough time to wait patiently because we have to take a decision in the coming week or two. The question of pointing fingers has come up because we are not aware of what is going on and hence we rely on what news we get. We even have to serve notice after leaving the job. Since time is short, we have to buyout the notice period. These are the various issues that we are facing. Also there is the thing of the waitlist that was supposed to be released on 7th getting postponed to 17th and now from 17th to 25th.
Could you please move ahead with the list at the earliest ?

R u asking Sidharth to move the W/L for you?? Btw, I recall Khanjan(or was it Viraj) mentioned that at the time of his admission, he had called up Admission Office to geta realistic picture at right abt the same time as now. He had mentioned his problem and the Admission Dept had helped him out. Please call up Admissions Dept to get a realistic idea abt ur position and take a call based on that!!! Gud luck n ATB bro!!
Regarding issuing of books from library, how many books are allowed at one time and for how much period ? Is there any limit to the books that can be issued ?
Plus, i already have some management books. Should i bring it with me or library will be more than enough ?

No, I didn't mean that Siddharth would be moving the W/L. It is just that the seniors are the only ones with whom we can communicate over pagalguy and facebook. It is just that my W/L number is low and am hopeful of a convert but time is a bit short and hence I am having a hard time.
I had tried to call Admissions Dept for a realistic idea of my position, as suggested, but they are not willing to answer any questions regarding the same.
This is my first post on pagalguy.I have been waitlisted and since there was no movement on 17th, my last w/l status is 280.Can anyone tell what are my chances of getting thru.
Initially only 15k will be refunded and if the seat gets filled .. then only 1k will be deducted and remaining amount will be refunded to you.. I called the admissions office and got the same reply. You can also call - +91 820 2701008
