IIM Ranchi crowned Champions of Deloitte Maverick 2015

The Ranchi Dreamers from IIM Ranchi have won the 4th edition of Deloitte Campus Maverick, the premier case study competition for B Schools in India conducted by Deloitte. The team from Ranchi beat 12 other national finalists in the finals held at the Deloitte Hyderabad Campus on the 4th of September 2015. The team comprised of Yagna Teja, Deepak Nair and Abhishek Praveen all of whom are second year PGDM students at IIM Ranchi. The national winners won a cash award of INR 3 Lakhs.

Deloitte Campus Maverick is a case study challenge conducted in multiple rounds and spans over a month. The competition reaches out to more than a 100 B schools in India including the premier B schools and has a reach of around 36000 students. The 4th edition of Campus Maverick saw roughly 15500 registrations from 2200 teams.

After the initial submission, 74 teams were selected for the regional finals across 4 regions- North, South, East and West. The Ranchi Dreamers were among the 16 teams to have qualified for the Eastern Regional Finals. The Eastern Regional's was conducted over 2 rounds after which 3 winners were identified who would progress to the National finals at Hyderabad on the 4th of September. IIM Ranchi qualified along with IIM Calcutta and XIM Bhubaneswar from the East Zone. These teams were joined by 9 other teams from the other zones to complete the 12 team roster for the Grand Finale.

The Grand Finale was held over 2 days which included surprise rounds which kept the teams on their toes. The 12 teams included Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) Delhi, IIM Rohtak & IMT Ghaziabad from the North; ISB Hyderabad, Great Lakes Institute of Management Chennai and Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIBM), Bengaluru from the South; Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), Mumbai, Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) Pune & Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, from the West; XIM Bhubaneswar, IIM Calcutta & IIM Ranchi from the East.

The final was conducted over 2 days and from the 12 national finalists, 4 teams progressed to the final stage round: ISB Hyderabad, XIM Bhubaneswar, IIM Ranchi and JBIMS Mumbai.

In a glittering grand finale attended by senior directors and principals from Deloitte, IIM Ranchi was adjudged the National Winners of the Deloitte Campus Maverick Season 4.

IIM Ranchi emerges as Champion in East Zone Finals of CFA Institute Research Challenge 2015-16

IIM Ranchi has won the East Zone Finals of the Annual CFA Institute Research Challenge 2015-16 in India, and will be representing the East Zone in the national finals to be held on January 2016.

The team from IIM Ranchi, comprising of Amaresh Krishna, Avneet Pal Singh, Mahesh Alapati,VVB Satyanarayana and Siddhant Chhaochharia were adjudged unanimous winners at the East Zone Finals, held on January 10, 2016, in Kolkata.

The CFA Institute Research Challenge, considered as the Investment Olympics saw more than 4000+ students from 865+ universities worldwide in the local rounds of the competition in the 2014-15 edition. In India, it is conducted at the 5 zonal levels, with 47 of the country's best management institutes participating. This year, the East Zone finals saw teams from top B-schools including IIM Calcutta, XLRI, IIM Shillong, IIM Ranchi and VGSoM with IIM Ranchi emerging as winners.

The team will now head to Mumbai for the national finals, where they will face off against the best teams in India. The national winners will then advance to the Asia-Pacific finals in the hopes of winning the Asia-Pacific championship.

RUSH - First Sports And Cultural Fest Of IIM Ranchi

The first ever sports and cultural fest in the history of IIM Ranchi RUSH 2015 began with a bang at Sheikh Bhikhari Mega Sports Complex Ranchi, the venue of the 2011 National Games.  True to its name the two day event was set to get the adrenaline rush going with a spectrum of cultural and sports event. The prominent sporting events included athletics, badminton, basketball, football, table tennis, volley ball, throw ball, carrom and chess. Exciting cultural events included the fashion show, war of bands, group dance, street play, solo singing, face painting and stand-up comedy. The event witnessed huge participation from various management, engineering and law colleges including IIM Calcutta, IIM Raipur, XISS, KIT, BIT Mesra, NLU, etc.

RUSH 2015 attracted major sponsors like Van Heusen, our title partner, style partner Turtle, media partner Times of India and Big FM, hospitality partner Royal Retreat, Food and beverages partner Hooch, Urban Brava and associate partners Tantra, VLCC, CBI, Gangaur ,Partee Hai and Chashme Shahi.

The extravaganza flagged off with a street play by "Dramebaaz", the drama club of IIM Ranchi and a football match between Ranchi University and NLU, Ranchi. Highlights of DAY 1 include fashion show, war of bands and football match between IIM Ranchi and Team Yuwa, a girls' team sporting as a platform for social development. The fashion show called Runway set the stage on fire with special showcase by Van Heusen and Jharcraft. The participating colleges were IIM Ranchi and XISS. The War of Bands held in the later half of the evening had participation from several colleges including St. Xavier's College Ranchi, IIM Calcutta, BIT Mesra, Army Public School, etc.

DAY 2 of the event started with a group dance performance by "Froggy Feat", the dance club of IIM Ranchi. The major highlights of the DAY 2 were a performance by TVF (The Viral Fever) and concert night by Underground Authority in the evening. Underground Authority is an alternative rock / rap rock band from Kolkata. They are the Winners of Hornbill International Rock Contest 2013 with 'Per Iyer' being tagged as the best vocalist, Soumyadeep Bhattacharya being the best bassist, 'Sourish Kumar' being the best drummer and Adil Rashid being the first runner up for best guitarist.  The Viral Fever or commonly known as TVF has produced several short comical videos that expose the funny side of everyday life.  Vipul Goyal of TVF was all set to encaptivate the audience with rib tickling laughter and his witty humour. The event ended with a "SAYONARA" from The Underground Authority.
