Thank you,Sir. Sir, Can you please tell how much mathematics knowledge is needed for PGDFM. I am from Arts background.Someone told me that i will face problem to clear quantitative analytic papers.Sir in 1st and 2nd year of FM what level of maths is required?

Don’t worry about it… you might struggle in the subject a bit, but they start from pretty basics & you can score well. Good thing about here is you can eat their heads until you get it properly.

Thank you

Dear sir
Thank you for being so kind to all the waitlisted cadidates. But I would rather you exercise caution than let the expectation of these hapless candidates soar high to the sixth heaven. Your prediction may go awfully incorrect this time .

Take for instance UR candidates. Out of 150( PGDFM) maximum 57 seats are for this category. If 50% of those as are offered admission opts to , leaving 28 seats then maximum of these nos. are available for watlisted UR candidates. How many do you think will opt out from the waitlist to accomodate 132rd ranked candidate??? Has IIFM fallen on such bad days ?? I think it has not.

A bit!!! It is math afterall.

I don’t think you stand any chance.

It’s baffling! You are wait listed with 23rd position?? What do you mean??? Among all the UR candidates your rank is 23, right? How come you are waitlisted ???
What is your overall rank ??? 80 th ???

I never meant to be rude. Hence " It’s baffling".
Can’t make head or tail of these waitlisted ranks.

And the matter has been rendered even worse by this gentleman ( Rishi ) with his distribution of largesse-- wait listed candidates irrespective of rank converting in the end stuff.

I do sincerely apologise if I were rude.

This evening itself I called up Sri Madhur Jain to seek clarification on this confounded RANK.
His clarification is even more interesting.
If one has to go by him – ranks have been calculated out of 424 candidates ( PGDFM :UR +R) and then assigned in order. I was so perplexed that I couldn’t find words to counter – I had seen your rank yesterday .

And the final bombshell from him – no candidate had applied for PGDFM last year. Hence no data from last year about movement of waitlist.

What does one make out of it all??

Sri Madhur Jain is the admission executive of IIFM.

are you a current stdent of iifm?

No Harsh . A very disturbed prospective admission seeker, that’s what I am.

relax bro ,sab hojayega

Ok i see your concern. It’s not necessarily about that math that I said. I am UR & was waitlist 44th. We had a waitlist of 100+ & all of it moved.
See what happens is a college doesn’t have empty seats if it still has a waitlist, because it can always draw from them into merit list to fill up. But 88 of 120 seats were filled. This time there are 150 seats in FM & this '22 junior batch is of 57 people only. My prediction is it’ll continue to decrease for FM & increase for SM (as they have double our average package). I’m just explaining the trend & things may change as Covid-years go further.
I only don’t think that it’ll happen so drastically. There’s been no reason for that (no sharp rise in package, or sectoral jobs).

ALWAYS have backups, I also did, as refunds are smooth nowadays… but don’t lose hope. I’ll be really, really shocked if somehow all the seats are suddenly filled this year. It can only happen if all the applicants are at below average percentile & not many of them get converted elsewhere, which I doubt. I could ofcourse say “it depends” or “maybe you will” & in result be utterly unhelpful to save my own skin.

IIFM is a highly sectoral institute & YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS BEING HERE if you don’t have a yearning of going into either Carbon or wildlife or ESG/CSR or ecosystem restoration (myself) or Natural resource management or development etc. sectors.
If you are going for operations, marketing etc. then don’t make the mistake of coming here. We learn only the basics of it. If u want to get placed at high LPA then don’t come to FM, the SM is better suited. Even then IRMA, XLRI etc. are available. You’ll love it if you’re made for IIFM, you’ll regret it if you aren’t.

Anyways don’t worry about giving offence & don’t listen to anyone who takes offence at genuine concerns. Please continue asking until you’re satisfied.

We can see that in your language how you are talking to the seniors.

Take care of your basic English before you go whole hog.

Hmm. You are way too optimistic and the same ,seems, doesn’t know any bound. Let us assume all will be HUNKY DORY for wait listed candidates and the prediction of Rishi sir will come true , even in that scenario your chance is pretty slim . In case you are in against all odds , I will see to it you get better in MATH and hone your English language skill as well.
I am good many notches ahead of you, in fact way ahead in terms of ranking.

Hi, is the Sustainability Management very maths heavy as I’m from arts background and bit weak at maths? Can you please give some insight into this.

This way IIFM is a bit “sarkari”… noone knows. List will come at it’s own time, usually after some some other institute’s walkways move & people leave here.

Not really… Arts or non-maths bg people have done well here, nor do PCM bg people do any better than others. Maybe you’ll have trouble if you choose certain elective subjects, so… don’t.
