Thanks for the advice.
About you, Iâve confirmed from junior batch (about to become seniors) that FM did have a waitlist last year⌠she couldnât tell me what length of the queue was, but she was in it. So some miscommunication has happened between you & Madhur sir (or he doesnât know, just taken charge of admissions).
Anyways let me reframe my stand⌠Upto 50 are definitely converting, till 100th itâs very likely as well. Beyond that maybe is iffy if trend changes (consulted some batchmates, who are of this opinion) but the waitlists are/were AFAIK combined for SM&FM, so youâre talking 150+75 seats available.
God bless you! My suggestion to you is only one. You better do some research on IIFM, After job profile and all. It looks like you are hoping for some classy corporate job or you got fascinated by 100% placement thing or May be you are hoping for some mainstream B-school. So you better focus on collecting some relevant information rather suggesting other on there selection, Else you will regret later
You can get high-paying classy corporate jobs in SM⌠Maybe in FM too at banking & paper industry, but theyâll be less âclassyâ.
Do some LinkedIn hunting & bother some '21 & '22 batch seniors. Itâll help.
Just a query ?is it true that we get (MOSTLY contract based jobs )after PGDFM Why is it that 46% recruiters of IIFM are from microfinance sector 30% frm Rural livelihood missions with Contract based jobs and 20% frm Jungel n paper based industries apart frm this same 90% companies participate every year that counts to 8 - 10 companies in totalâŚIIM sirmaur SIP its just 6-7 yrs old Institute with avg stipend of 50k. If we are getting contract based jobs then WHERE IS the security for future., Someone got selected for FM and he is confused so can anyone clarify.
Some people in this discussion are aggressively arguing as if itâs a death or life situation getting admission here , not knowing the future consequences previous years even UR with 31 percentile was lowest who got admission because they had more than half seats left vacant, you can see that in mandatory disclosure. I need not to say anymore please be patient donât get so agressive for something⌠itâs not that of a big deal.
Ok, letâs go one by oneâŚ
In my FM23 batch 13 ppl out of 85 went to microfinance, most with 10LPA & itâs a sector that IIFMites have dominated. Actually microF organisations like Annapurna & Midland didnât get anyone this time because noone was interested. Percentage of that depends on how good you are as a batch.
BRLPS, NAFED took 3 & 2 people the former contractual, later permanent. MPFDC, CAMPA, MPTFS took some people contractually. Theyâll actually get to make good contacts & use this experience to get into conservation or development at higher posts. Not like anyone didnât becomes jobless oneday.
Rest all are âpermanentâ in development sector like ASA. Carbon & forestry had new recruiters like Renew Power, Intellecap, CIFOR, CEEW.
About CAT percentile, our THE strongest candidate was the lowest CAT scorer & one if below avg scored highest 97+ percentile. CATâs riddle-solving score means little here, thatâs why they put so much weightage on WAP & PI.
People need to know all this BEFORE applying. Its so easy to do in LinkedIn to just l look up which alum is where & just ask them. Please go on Insta & check @iifm_bhopalâs posts.
Lastly, Iâll repeat, this is a sectoral institution that serves a niche whose orgs keeps coming back to us. If one is not interested in these (initially) moderate paying sectors⌠or if your primary priority is package or stipend, then Iâll strongly advised against coming here, atleast not FM. Please donât make a mistake youâll regret (we got some such too). Withdraw or choose SM while you still have time & make room for those of whom it is that big of a deal.
PS: To the âaggressive arguersâ⌠Relax, thereâll be time enough for drama once youâre here.
Donât harbour any misconceptions about getting a farmhouse at Tala zone either⌠itâs the core area of a tiger reserve.
Just on the FIRE LINE then ( Buffer zone???) .
Thus I stand corrected or do I dada ???
Not buffer either (fireline is something else entirely). Outside there forest area maybe, beyond the eco-sensitive zone.
But glad youâre not as clueless about IIFM. If 10ish LPA isnât glitzy enough for you, or youâre not comfortable with the sector & doing fieldwork, or want core corporate then definitely SM should be your choice, or some other institution. PGDFM isnât exactly an MBA. I got 18 from FM but that makes me an outlier. You wonât go to Forest Research Institute for a corporate job right, even though itâs a premiere institute? Itâs similar with IIFM.
Jungle Ghooming ,field working and while so doing keep my DSLR going are things my heart is set upon. Donât need 10L pa . Make do with 4L.
I am turning moon-eyed once more. I turned into one good 12 yrs. back while pouring over KEN.ANDERSON and Corbett , Gee, Bittu Saigal , Thapar. Ruben David had me swooning on him once. Now Rishi sir. I am spellbound dada. And another one , almost saintly M.Krishnan vide his COUNTRY NOTE BOOK.
Hi, My waitlist is around 60 for SM and 26 for FM (General/UR). Is there any chance to get into IIFM. If the answer is yes, please lemme know if I can change my branch to SM from FM as I have more chances of getting into FM. My first priority is SM.
Quick response will be appreciated. Many thanks.
You had better make yourself scarce by opting for IIM INDORE. BE OFF!!! YOU DONâT STAND ANY CHANCE FM/SM.
26 might convert in the next waitlist only⌠SM also might by 3rd one. Better to wait how much SM waitlist moves & then take a call. Most people are in both waitlists, so when one takes, say, FM the SM waitlist also moves.
Youâre good
You should follow the same policy. Your FM might convert in next waitlist only⌠Note how much the SM waitlist is moving. If most of the people who are converting now are taking SM, then it wonât move as much.
Based on the amount of that movement one should be able to judge whether you will convert in the following one or not. Let me know then both of you.
Actually even after taking as FM some had switched to SM when seats were available at the end. Weâve been trying to get the institution to allow those on regular basis (there students should have right to decide if theyâre eligible & room is available). Call Madhur sir once & talk once about prospects of that.
Chill ppl, Donât fight on selections . I have consulted few seniors from previous batches and most of them are of opinion that everyone on the waitlist will get selected. One of the previous batches had 403 WL candidate in there batch(also someone with 30 percentile), Almost every-time, Seats remain empty and this year is no different, As job market is same. If you are on Waiting list, Most likely, You will get a call . There is no reason to be aggressive on selections
Ok. Then IIFM , apparently has fallen on bad days, hasnât it â 400th waitlisted soul getting in
The soul with 30percentile making it to it â incredible !! Why are we then fighting ???
