It is my pleasure to introduce the Official Admission query thread for Simon Graduate School of Business and welcome their official Admission representative into our community.
The Simon School is currently ranked among the leading graduate business schools in the world, including recent ratings by The Financial Times of London among the top 10 in the world for finance and for accounting. The school emphasizes an analytic and economics approach within the curriculum and offered a personalized experience with smaller class sizes.

I would appreciate if anyone provides me some detail of ISLP offered at Simon. I am scheduled to join the 1 year MBA batch starting from June 2013 but am not in a position to finance the entire fee myself. I have heard that Simon provides ISLP , which allows international applicants to borrow loans without any co-signer, but do not know the exact details of the program more specifically for year 2013-2014.
I gave my interview on 26th of Feb. I know that decision release date for round 3 applicants is March end but was just curious as to how long does Simon usually take to reply on admission status? Also normally how many people (approxmately in percentage terms) make it to final list of converts after being interviewed?
Bhupendar - Hi there! Greetings from Rochester. The CFO from the University of Rochester is working on details for ISLP for next year. The Dean has formalized intent to access funds for our students, so we have every expectation that it will be available. It will likely be "just in time" for both 2-year and 1-year incoming students - at least that has been the case the past few years as we work through an outside bank to secure the financing. Just as soon as we have details, we will post them on the Admitted student portal. We will give priority to 1-year MBAs since they start the program earliest. I hope this helps, but feel free to respond if I can help with any other questions. Kind regards, Rebekah Lewin - Simon MBA/MS Admissions Office
vedanshugoel - Greetings from the MBA/MS Admissions office! Decisions are posted on a rolling basis, leading up to the deadline for a particular round. A fairly large # are finalized in the last few weeks of the round, as we try and review candidates in batches - especially those who have interviewed. We guarantee a response for the Jan. 5th deadline by the end of the month and we are very committed to providing a timely outreach to each candidate to meet that timeline. I hope this helps and good luck with your B-school plans! Regards - Rebekah Lewin - Simon MBA/MS Admissions Office
@Rochester_Simon You can hit the Reply button at the end of each user and it will automatically mention that user and send a notification . You can also use the @ feature.
That helps a lot. Can you please also confirm that once the funds are available for ISLP , then atleast one does not require a cosigner to get it. I mean to say that one as a student and only on one's behalf would be eligible to receive the approved amount.
@Bhupendar @Bhupendar The ISLP has been a no co-signer loan option and I expect that to continue. It will not cover any living expenses and most students were able to access it for a portion of their tuition expenses that were not covered by scholarship support. Hope this helps. -Rebekah Lewin
Thanks again. That clears mostly all ISLP doubts. I will now wait until further updates on the program.
One more thing that I would like to ask is while trying to report my score to Simon, I could not see any option with 1 year full time MBA. The only available options were: Executive, Accelerated, Full time and Part time MBA. I thought to choose Full time but then under description it was mentioned "University of Rochester William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration MBA, Full Time MBA, Full Time, 2 Years or more Rochester, NY, United States"
Could you please tell me which program should I choose to send my scores to.
@Visweswarareddy Happy to provide some context on the waiting list. We expect to review it in the mid-spring timeline (probably later in April). In past years, we have admitted some students off the waiting list into the 2-year MBA program. We have also (on a selective basis) offered some students the option to be considered for our 18-month Accelerated MBA program that begins in January - this may also be an option for candidates with several years of work experience. If you haven't already done so, please confirm your interest in remaining on the waiting list and provide updates (if any) to the Admissions Committee. Active engagement on the waiting list does help.
I made a payment of 1500$ towards the initial non refundable fee deposit on 13th March 2013 but has not got any confirmation for that nor is there any update on my 'Apply Yourself' page. In my admission letter I was asked to make 2 payments of 1500$ each one before 15th March which I did and the another before 30th March which I will do. So is it that once I made the complete deposit only then will it be acknowledged and I get further updates on how to I 20 and all?
@Bhupendar It's great to hear that you have made the commitment to enroll - we are excited to have you joining us! I just checked and we do have you listed as a "confirmed" student - sometimes that process takes a few days as we have to reconcile credit card confirmations from our finance office. The I-20 process will commence once both deposits are made (as well as submission of official test scores/transcripts). Hopefully you got a credit card confrimation of payment for the initial $1500 as well? Thanks - Rebekah Lewin
Thanks. I have got a mail informing me of my UID and all the other details today.
But under the finance section of that email It was mentioned:
"Financial Aid Any US citizen or permanent resident who will be applying for federal loans must complete the FAFSA. The University of Rochester's federal school code is 002894. For International students, a US co-signer is required. "
Could you please clear the confusion because I was of the view that a US co signer is not required as per ISLP. getting my education Financed is critical for me to decide on my enrollment to the course.
