I will be giving CAT 2013 and other xams such as IIFT, SNAP, NMAT & XAT...I will be preparing from Bangalore....CAT 2013 will be my 2nd attempt in CAT...gave CAT 2011 & have all the TIME materials..


I want to get an idea about the preparation strategy...presently, m working in TCS...

plz provide me with valuable inputs..

Other than that on prep strategy, as of now focus on basic concepts especially in Quants. Find out your weak areas from your CAT 2011 experience and then check out the Prep section to find out how you can do some focused prep in that.

I am an graduate from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics and an Chartered accountant with an Work Experience of 2 Yrs. I want to pursue MBA in Finance from IIM's , but have some queries. I hav an descent score of 85% in my SSC and HSC, but in case of Graduation I have scored between 75 - 80% . and I am in C.A wid an avg,. marks and not an merot rankers. Is thr any chance of my profile getting shortlisted and can I crack the same with my JOB? Can anybody throw the light on the same.

Do B-schools conduct their GDPIs in cities other than their campus ? Or I need to go to respective campus for the same ?

I believe that they must be having centers in most cities if not all. If yes from where I can get this information ?

@_Anamika_ Yeah, they'll have centers other than at campus also. The list of cities is different for each institute. But yes the major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata etc. will be there I think for most of them.

You'll need to check individual institute websites to know the exact list of cities they conduct GDPI process at.

Sir I checked individual websites of institutes like XLRI, FMS, IMT, IIML etc but I have not found any list of cities where they conduct GDPI process.

@_Anamika_ It should be shown once the GD PI shortlist is announced for that particular institute!! And for some when applying initially itself they ask for choice of interview city. So you may have come across when you applied to institutes like IMT.

The IIMs specifically state that they look at post-graduate work experience, but during the final selection stage or the PI, do internships count? As in, internships done during college years and relevant to the engineering course work?

@dailypoet Saying it as "post-graduate work experience" (with "-" in between implying it should be read together!!) might be bit confusing! :P

Work experience post graduation would be the right usage I guess! :)

Anyways, those internships, projects etc. done during graduation wouldn't be considered as part of work experience, but then as co-curricular activities. Definitely a value add to the profile during PI.

I missed the CAT 2012 as I have to move to London but I am looking forward to appear for CAT 2013. Coming back India in August 2013 beginning. Have started preparation again.

@adreamcalledmba Even my situation is same like yours any time this year I may travel out and if it happens in November then my one full year preparation will be wasted .... Don't worry just do you work and hope for best.
