[Official] CAT 2013 Aspirants

@MrCoolABC Dear Rohit,

For verbal ability you could try out these things. Commit yourself to reading the editorial section of The Hindu/ Economic Times. One Business Magazine - Business World. During initial stages, don't be in a hurry to finish it off. Understand and imbibe as much as you can. Verbal Ability is tested through four broad areas - Vocabulary ( Fill in the blanks question, Antonyms,Synonyms, Finding the right context et al.), Grammar (Knowledge about part of speech is tested - Nouns, Pronouns, Adjectives, Conjunctions, Verb, Interjections, Prepositions, Adverbs), Reading Comprehension & Logical Reasoning. Take a comprehensive sectional test to ascertain your strength and weak areas, and then you could make a plan to iron out your weak areas.

For Vocabulary
Word Power Made Easy - Do it thoroughly
Six Weeks to words of Power - Wilfred Funk
An Adult Approach to vocabulary building - Morris Rosenblum

For Grammar
If you have time - Wren and Martin
or you could read up about the parts of speech, and solve sample papers

For Reading Comprehension
A small reading session on types of questions - Tone, Central Idea, Specific Detailed Question, and then you should attempt small tests of RC and analyse your performance

Coaching may be important, but more than that it's about how you get the most out of coaching material, faculty, Mock Tests.
It's only about you. Coaching certainly helps. But you must work hard on your strengths and weaknesses.

All the best!

wat to guide . i see no queston 😞 is there any specific query you would like to throw?

Is CATGurus and Endeavor Careers the same?

@akash008 Dear Aakash, What's your sectional break up in CAT Exam? My suggestion would be to form a study group with 3-4 friends who share your aspirations and are as committed as you are for CAT. Take up Test Series of TIME/IMS/Career Launcher during the last leg of your preparation. Analyse each and every MOCK test to the minutest of detail. Make an exhaustive reading list - Business World, Economic Times, Frontline, Fictions as well as Non - Fictions.

Take up few different exams in 2013 - CAT, XAT, CMAT and apply to select list of Top Business Schools.
All the best!

buy any material from any of the institutes. TIME/CL/TESTFUNDA/handakafunda.com are most famous. one material would suffice. Additionaly, you can have arun sharma book.

you are at the right sight. everything about MBA
@akash008 Dear Akash,

Coaching Institutes study material are quite well researched, planned and focused. However, if one has time, he/she could handpick books on Number System, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary ( An Adult Approach to vocabulary building) among others and develop numerical as well as verbal skills. The ideal way to start the preparation would be to cover the fundamentals from NCERT books ( 9,10) or from IMS/TIME/CL materials and join a test series. Forming study groups where each one is committed will ensure a faster learning curve. Analyse your MOCK CATs to the core. Participate and discuss on PQ.
Make an exhaustive reading plan. stick to it. Should help you to get into top B schools of the country.
All the best!
@arya22 Assess your strength areas. Challenge yourself on selected topics. Number System & Geometry are two areas which are tested majorly by CAT/XAT and other entrance exams.
