Hi fellow puys and seniors,
I am in dire need of some help. I am currently in my 3rd year of BTech and will be writing CAT'13 (1st attempt, of course). My college is in one of those places where TIME/CL/IMS lack quality faculty. Recently, BYJU'S organised a workshop in our campus and they will be starting off with their first batch from next week.
Now, I've been preparing on my own since july last year and thus can claim to have pretty alright kind of basics.
The eternal question: Should I go for Byju's??

First. Its not a dire situation like you have mentioned...
Byju is good...find out if santosh sir will be takinh up the verbal classes or not..if its your weak area then he is the best person to be around..byju sir is.good if you have all your basics in place..then its helpful...
Do join a test series though. Probably in may or.june time...Cl or ims...their questions are on line with cat...

thanks for your reply. Another thing that makes me a bit apprehensive is the lack of typical 'class environment'. Having attended a couple of demo classes, I've felt these classes being all video classes don't only lack the teacher-student interaction, but also the kind of competitive environment among students that could be of help. Will it have any kind of bearing??

No man it doesnt matter....for the competition that you want i can assure uou that you will have plenty of it once.mocks.start....
Ek kaam kar if you want interaction join ravi handa sir ki class....online hi hoga but you will be able to interact....n sir is really good...but its only for qa...no va as of now...plus reaching him is easy...thats why i would suggest ravi sir...plus the fee is nominal...2400 as of now...discount hai abhi...

Hey puys .
I will be preparing for CAT13 with all the zest (from mid march) , pretty disappointed with my CAT12 results .
I have the courseware of TIME from my previous attempt .
and I'd be joining only their test series this time .
I'd like to know , how should i go about the preparation ?
Will all the TIME material be enough or should i buy other books and do them as well .
Apart from books any reading that i should do as my VA is weak and QA is on the stronger side .
Some help would be greatly appreciated . :)
PS : I'd like to be a part of a study group , so any people from delhi who are interested can PM me .
@saurav205 @imrover To be honest, I personally believe videos are a much better way to study because of plenty of reasons:
1. You can pause, rewind, forward a video. You can replay a video any number of times. This is not possible with a live faculty or even VSAT classes.
2. The availability of videos is 24x7. You can watch them at the time which suits you. You don't have to go to a center.
3. The videos are lot smaller than an actual class. Typically 15-20 minutes instead of a 1 hour - 2 hour class. This means that if you want to revise a specific idea in Time, Speed & Distance - say Relative Speed. There is no need to attend the entire class - just watch the Relative Speed video.
Having said that, I do not know what sort of 'video classes' Byju Classes is offering but the above ones apply to my videos. From your comment, it seems like these basic things are missing in them.
Over and above that - I do agree that a lot of interaction between faculty and students is required. Otherwise how would a student get his / her doubts solved. For these, in my course I have regular classes. In the classes, the topics are predefined. For eg: Remainders. Before the class or during the class - students can raise hand - ask their doubts - and get them clarified on the spot. In case you miss a class, you can watch the recording later.

@busybrains7 Looking at your profile and scores, I think you are not able to peak at the right time, and perhaps get too nervous taking the tests. Of course, there seem to be some test-prep work still pending (as per your admission above), which can always be done. But in your case I think you stand a very bright chance of cracking it (X, XII, Grad scores) but the attitudinal and self-motivation part needs to be really worked upon, to ensure consistency. Overall I feel you have enough time, go for it.
@busybrains7 Since your giving CAT from 2010, You should be having all the AIMCAT or Mock papers of institutes...
Suggestion is, Redo and Analyze each every paper. Give CL/TIME Mocks this year too..
For the VA section...I came across a good site for RC's... www.rcprep.com
You can solve other VA questions from TIME/CL Materials, TIME(Online Sectional Tests) or PG...
If you get a 99.5 + score...i'm pretty certain that you'll get all the 13 IIM calls...cauz all your %ntages are good :)

I am currently preparing for CAT 2013 and pursuing my final year of graduation. My 10th and UG marks are 85% and 70% respectively. But the problem lies in my 12th marks which has hit a low of 62.3%. Will this become a big logjam in the future for me? Do I have any chance of getting into any IIM at all? I have been doing well in the practice tests and sure to get around 98 percentile.
I just learnt that many IIMs (especially the new ones) demand 65% in 12th which I do not have :-(

well you are good for IIM C,L,K,A among old ones if you score 99.65+%ile to be safe
