Avenir is the Annual Business Conclave of DoMS, IITR. Eminent industry stalwarts leading their organizations discuss about the dynamic forces shaping the current market. The lecture that they give proves to be a lifetime learning experience for any budding manager who wishes to excel in the corporate industry. Being at the helm of many organizations, they provide insights about the current global workplace which turns out to be an eye-opener for students.
The knowledge that the students gain in the session helps them to harness the ebbs and flows of the market during their industrial career.
Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee was privileged to host Dr Santosh Phulpagar, Head TA, L&D, Operation Excellence and Business HR - Corporate Functions at CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited in Avenir 2019 - The Annual Business Conclave of DoMS, IITR. He was felicitated by our Professor Dr Jogendra Kumar Nayak and a warm speech was delivered by Vatsal Goel.
The theme of interaction was 'Industry 4.0: The limitless realm' with Dr Santosh Phulpagar explaining about the impacts of the fourth industrial revolution. He focussed on the radical changes that would come about shortly in both the business and global workspace and thereby emphasizing the creation of job opportunities in different creative sectors. He went on to talk about the shaping up of the work environment and the need for growth mindset that would facilitate in tapping the opportunities laid out by the fourth industrial revolution.
The session proceeded to a culmination with an interactive Q&A session where the questions put forth by the students were answered impeccably by Dr Santosh Phulpagar.
The Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee had the utmost pleasure of hosting Mrs. Jayanthi Anilkumar, Head HR - Banking Operations at Standard Chartered Global Business Services for Avenir 2019 - The Annual Business Conclave of DoMS, IITR. She was felicitated by Shivangi Tripathi with a warm welcome speech given by Prashant Tyagi.
She shed light on the topic of Industry 4.0 and the impact it has on the Financial and Banking sector. She emphasized the need to embrace the technological invasion and to optimize its capabilities. She highlighted the need to adopt Descriptive Analysis in any field of business and also went on to talk about how the technological change shall route individuals to new avenues that are created. She urged all the students to choose their industries with the utmost care and to be prepared and equipped to manage change.
The session proceeded to a conclusion with students putting forth their questions which were answered in an elucidate manner by Mrs. Jayanthi Anilkumar.

The keynote of the interactive session was the evolution of Indiamart from a startup to an IPO. He shared his valuable pieces of information about the various formidable obstacles the company had to face in the initial stages in the form of dotcom burst, economic recession, etc. He highlighted the need to diversify and the necessity of the up-gradation of business models at the point of saturation.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session where the queries and doubts of students were clarified by the guest with utmost zeal. The valuable lessons derived from the journey of Indiamart were inspiring and motivating for all the students and would be beneficial for them in the long run.
The Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee was honored to host Mr. Neeraj Sharma, Vice President Human Resources at FourKites India for Avenir 2019 - The Annual Business Conclave of DoMS, IITR. He was felicitated by Gaurav Shahi with a warm welcome speech delivered by Prashant Tyagi.
The session comprised of a comprehensive talk on celebrating every achievement immensely. He emphasized the need to solve harder problems, to adapt more quickly and to take more intelligent actions to prove oneself worthy. He went on to talk about the need to concentrate on a data-driven economy due to the onset of Industry 4.0 and to reinvent self, acknowledge others and to be prepared to learn at every occasion.
The session culminated with the questions put forth by the students being answered by the guest. Mr. Neeraj Sharma's session turned out to be an inspiring and ecstatic one with students rejoicing every second of the lecture.
This Teachers' Day, Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee celebrated the life-altering lessons we’ve all received at some point in our lives. The occasion provided a platform for alumni to send heartwarming messages and express their gratitude to their beloved teachers.

Brainstorming session for the ICSSR sponsored project entitled “Management Education in Technical Institute: Academic and Industry Perspective” was organized at DoMS, IIT Roorkee on 16th September 2019.
A galaxy of academicians and industry personnel participated in the program and contributed their valuable deliberations. Project Director Prof. Santosh Rangnekar welcomed the guest speakers and highlighted the objectives and progress of the project. Prof. M. Parida, Dy Director, IIT Roorkee graced the occasion as the keynote speaker. Dr. M K Barua, Head of the Department, highlighted the MBA program and its current curriculum being taught at the campus, selection procedure and placement opportunities provided to the students.
Prof. Dinesh K. Nauriyal, the observer and expert for the project, Prof. M.P. Gupta, DoMS, IIT Delhi, Shri Kamalendu Bali, Senior Director - Solutions at Concentrix, Gurgaon, Prof. Vikas Chaudhary, Head DoMS, NIT Kurukshetra, Mr Rajesh Kumar, Additional General Manager BHEL Haridwar, Prof. Manoj Patwardhan, IIIT Gwalior also participated in the brainstorming process to identify the possible changes for the curriculum development and design for MBA students.
MBA students and alumni also made valuable suggestions to be incorporated into the program. Dr. Ramesh A. extended vote of thanks to one and all present there.

Being the alumni of DoMS, IIT Roorkee, they urged the students to be constantly updated with the current trends of the business world and also threw light upon the multifarious opportunities in the booming Product Management sector.
The session turned out to be an interactive one with students getting involved in activities that were organized.
Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee was honored to host Ms. Akanksha Jain, Franchise sales Head at Jugnoo for a knowledge sharing session with both the batches of MBA students.
Ms. Akanksha is an alumna of DoMS, IIT Roorkee. The point of discussion was about excelling in the GDPI rounds during placements. She focused on the need to handle stress during interviews and urged the students to be genuine in their answers for the questions asked.
The session turned out to be an interactive and enlightening one for all the students.

Exuberance, the hard-fought extravaganza of DoMS, IITR finally came to an end with the prize distribution ceremony.
