Any suggestions on how to approach the logical deduction type questions ? (all a's are b's, all b's are not c's ....) I don't like the venn diagrams approach.

My friend got a call from Pearson (hopefully), saying that his exam, which was to happen tomorrow, was cancelled due to the server being down at the centre and he would have to reschedule again. Did anybody else also get the same call?

I wrote nmat today ...here is analysis of paper :
QA : Moderate level - Sequence and series..geometry..numbers..ratio and proportion
DI: Toughest portion- with 3 graphs in a single set..4 sets were there
LR: Easy
VA: Vocab was difficult to guess
5 : grammer question
3: parajumbles
4: preposition questionsquestions
2 : passage
4 : FIB
Rest were synonym and antonym
window 1 results are expected to come around?
Is anybody sure if Pearson would open more slots for December or not?

31st Oct 2014 nmat analysis of the paper :-
QA : Moderate level - Loaded with DS,Sequence&Series,arithmetic and numbers.
DI: Toughest portion-4 sets[1 set easy rest calculation intensive with very close options]
LR: Easy[Find value of x different patterns,blood relationships and verbal reasoning were in abundance,1 puzzle set took hell lot of time]
VA: Vocab was difficult[insertion of tough vocab words in RCs too]
Rest was easy
NMAT-1 november ; 2 PM slot
verbal- was easy for someone who has a good grip on vocab.RCs were a little longer than testfunda, grammar was easier and parajumbles were easier too.overall verdict- high on vocab..difficulty level 6/10
logical reasoning-verbal reasoning easier than testfunda, rest lr was equivalent.2 logical reasoning sets and both were a little time consuming..syllogism,venn diagram input output composed rest of the section.overall it was easy but due to severe time crunch i will escalate the difficulty level so -7/10
quant- easier than testfunda, 4 di sets way tougher than inmat. 1 set was doable, 2 calculation intensive and 1 full on cat level (a set of winning and losing with scores and tables..meaning it was logical reasoning+di set)..quant had questions from number system ,probability ,time and work ,permutations, geometry, time speed distance etc so leaving any topic isnt advisable.di escalated the level of difficulty so=7/10
i beseech god to plz plz clear my lr sectional cutoff..hopefully rest went fine 🙏

1st November - 2:00 PM - Slot Review
VA - Good level of vocab... some tough words which ain't easy to guess. Easy parajumbles and grammar questions. RCs were lengthy but the questions were pretty direct.
QA - Overall easy and doable with questions from time-work, sequence and series, profit and loss, geometry, etc. 5-6 questions on DS. 4 DI sets out of which 3 could be easily solved based on approximations.
LR - Maximum questions on critical reasoning and decision making. A few on blood relations, syllogisms and number series. 1 set of input-output. Questions were moderate but the time constraint makes them difficult to solve.
Had only given 2 TIME mocks before. The actual NMAT level is much higher on all fronts. Hope to clear all cut-offs.
1st November, 11:30 AM.
Order of attempt: VA, Quant, LR
VA-
Vocab: Couple of obscure words, others were fine. Questions were alternate in terms of whether synonym or antonym was being asked, so don't forget to keep an eye on the question.
RC: 1 short and 1 long. Questions were a mix of direct and inference based, one tone of passage question in the long passage. Short one took around 1.5 minutes to read, long one around 4 minutes.
Grammar: Easy.
Para-jumbles: Three 5-sentence jumble, three 4 sentence jumble. 5 sentence ones were moderate, 4 sentence ones were on the easier side.
Quant-
4 DI sets (a total of 20 questions), were pretty lengthy, did 1 and a half DIs. Out of the rest 28 questions, 5-6 questions were comparable to AIMCATs, and they occurred in succession, so it was a bit unnerving when I encountered that streak. But, rest of them were easy. Even DS questions were pretty straight-forward. Equal distribution of geometry, probability/P&C, numbers, profit-loss/CI/SI.
LR-
1 input-output set, and to my surprise I cracked the code for the first time in exam-conditions :D. Lots of critical reasoning based questions and at least half a dozen of them were pretty confusing. Barring a couple, the series based ones were easy. Did not solve any set questions other than the input-output one, no time.
Overall, I am happy about Quant and Verbal but not so much about LR. Just hope to get through the LR cutoff. Fingers crossed.
Note: This is my first attempt, mock scores range from 190-246, and the questions which I wild-guessed were marked 'B' because my blood group is B+ :P.

How many of you guys felt the NMAT test centre to be daunting? I am from kolkata, gave the test on 12th oct, I can at least say that here it was grossly pathetic. Small 2 bhk house, no ACs, suffocating, officials chit chatting, continuous noise of the traffic outside. I mean it's ridiculous, NMAT-Pearson charge so much and they provide such environment. I have complained but I don't know whether they have improved the conditions. I am taking the retake on 18th Nov.
