SDMIMD organized the first International e-conference on “Adapting to the new business normal- The way ahead”, on 3-4 December 2020.
Dr. N. R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, spoke on the challenges and opportunities on doing business in the pandemic era and released the Conference. Proceeding CD. Dr. Mousumi Sengupta, the Conference Chair, briefed the participants about the objective of the conference and emphasized on the need to get virtually connected, for the purpose of collaborative research.
During his keynote address, eminent international academician, and researcher, Dr. Moez Bennouri, the Director of the MSc Programs, Montpellier Business School, France, spoke on the issue of female leadership in organizations.
The keynote was followed by paper presentation session. More than 100 participants and paper presenters have taken part in the conference.
Started in 2010, the stature of the SDMIMD Journal of Management (SDMIMD JoM) has risen in the Peer-Reviewed Scholarly Publication World. During the past decade, the journal which focuses on the realm of management has witnessed tremendous growth in the quality contributions of the researchers & academics. Further, the journal has gained rising readership and wider popularity and it is evident from the high Index Copernicus Value (ICV 2018) of the journal (95.57). Eventually, the SDMIMD JoM got indexed in EBSCO, J-Gate, i-Scholar, Copernicus, Cosmos and UGC list.
The Volume 11, Issue 2 has been released and it includes interesting research articles, case study and book review.

Student Exchange Program 2020
As part of the students exchange program 29 select students will be visiting eight different international foreign universities for a whole term of study. During the program SDMIMD students will be studying with many international students and get taught by several faculty from different nationalities. The experience of having different pedagogy is invaluable for their growth. Besides the facility to do cases and projects with students of other nationalities and background affords cross-cultural understanding. Further, the evaluation technique used in these schools enables students to be on their toes and prove their mettle.

SUMMER PLACEMENT
- After completing the mandatory courses of the first-year, students get into the practical world of decision-making and business management in the Summer Internship Project (SIP). Spanning eight weeks, the SIP is selected according to the chosen specialisation of the students.
- They are assigned specific tasks which use the managerial concepts they have learned, in a practical environment. After understanding the student’s abilities and aspirations thoroughly, specific projects are assigned to each in conjunction with the companies concerned.
- During the internship the students work under the guidance of a senior executive of the company and their progress is monitored by an internal faculty guide. Students keep in touch with the faculty guide on developments on the work front and obtain clarifications on the right way to progress.
- At the end of the program, they are required to obtain a certificate from the company they have worked with, that they have satisfactorily completed the work allotted to them. On return to the campus, they are required to submit a detailed report highlighting the practical application of management concepts in the work place as well as details on what they had learned in the company.
- The best Summer Internship Project Reports are published in the 'Excerpts of the Summer Internship Reports' brought out by the SDM Research Center for Management Studies (SDM RCMS) .
SDMIMD, Mysore, PGDM Program -
A two-year full-time program with 6 terms, the SDMIMD PGDM program is an all-encompassing program useful for students and professionals from various disciplines. The main objective is to provide students with an industry-oriented education and help create leaders of the future.
Students can select their area of specialization in the second year; there are options available for dual specialization or even an option where students can be generalists and not specialize in a specific stream. The various areas of specialization are as follows:

ELIGIBILITY FOR PGDM 2021-23 :
- Graduates/Final Year Graduation students appearing for CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/ATMA/MAT or who already have valid CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/ATMA/MAT scores. Scores of any one of the above exams conducted from June 2020 up to March 2021 will be valid for the admission.
- Full-time graduation courses in any discipline recognized by the UGC/AIU.
- Consistent academic record of not less than 50% aggregate in 10th Std, 12th Std. and Degree. Students in final year of Degree to consider their percentage up to the Second Year/Last completed semester.
Annual Leadership Talk by Prof.Barry O'Mahony of Abu Dhabi University
Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) is organizing the 12th edition of Annual Leadership Talk (ALT) on Thurday, February 11, 2021. The ALT 2021 will be an online edition.
About the Speaker of ALT 2021
Professor Barry O’Mahony is Dean of the College of Business at Abu Dhabi University, United Arab Emirates and was previously Chief Academic Officer at the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne. He holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Education from Victoria University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Administration from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Business in Catering and Hotel Management from Victoria University. He has taught undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses in Australia, Ireland, Hong Kong, the United States and the Middle East.
Prior to joining academia Professor O’Mahony held senior positions in 5 stars hotels and deluxe restaurants in Ireland, the UK, the Channel Islands and Australia. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality and his research in hospitality, services marketing, and tourism has been published extensively in international journals. He has received several best paper awards for his work.

First Annual Convocation of PGCM 2019-20
SDMIMD organized the First Annual Convocation of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved One-Year Full-Time - Post Graduate Certificate in Management (PGCM) Program (2020-21 batch) on January 27, 2021, through Virtual Mode.
Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala and Chairman of SDMIMD Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, presided the convocation function. Dr. Heggade awarded the Post Graduate Certificate in Management (PGCM) to the 11 students of the AICTE approved batch and honoured the Gold Medal for Overall Excellent Performance to Mr. Bhargav G Upadhyay.
Speaking on the changing vistas of higher education, Dr. Heggade opined that New Education Policy (NEP) has several postulates, which is practised by Dharmasthala group of institutions ever since they forayed into education. He stressed on the educational system which upholds the Indian values and the Indian spirit for – integrity, reverence, gratitude, and social responsibility. Advising the graduating students Dr. Heggade said ‘young managers should have a temperamental framework in leading a life of fulfilment and the same time be successful in their avocations’.
