Hello all, Before coming to the college, make sure you know all the details about the college. The academic, the culture, the attitude of the faculty etc Let me briefly tell you some of the facts. Placements:-Last year college had some luck and the placements went good. Almost everyone was placed. This year the placements are really bad. 30% of the batch is still left for placements and tha company which are visiting the campus are offering salaries of 5-6LPA. This is mainly because of incompetent placement head. Academics:- The collage is ment to be operations focused but does not have any good operations faculty. Most of them have left the college. Dr Tripathi has joined IMT nagpur, dr Dubey who came as a visiting faculty just for two days is in China etc etc. A person having B.SC degree in physics is teachingil important subjects like stats, advance stats, operations management etc. One of the teacher is also believed to have taught some wrong formula to the senior batch and when he was asked about the same he said that he was right. Culture:- The college is dominated by female management which means that you cannot argue with them on factual bases, they will do whatever they like. Joining the college also means that you will be paying lots of fine for 2 years. Fine for missing the classes( they are really perticular for 75% and each year many are detained for various subjects), fine for missing the hostel attendance call, fine for entering the campus after 10, the campus closes at 10 on weekdays and 11 on weekends. The Median package would me around 8. This means that half or the batch will be having a package below it. JOINING THE COLLEGE MEANS THAT YOU ARE CHALLENGING YOUR FATE OR YOU RESIOUSLY DONT HAVE ANY OTHER COLLEGE.
I don't think so that @realsiom has said anything wrong. Decide for yourself if you can sustain in such environment go for it else choose any other b school

INTERIM PLACEMENT REPORT:
This post is regarding the placement stats that everyone is been asking for. Just to add to it, the stats are not yet published on the website and the process of placement is still in process. Hope this may help you out to clear your doubts alongwith clearing out all the rumours that has been there on this page from last few days:
Maximum : 17.5
Median: 10.50
Average (Laterals): 10.77
Average (Freshers) : 8.75
Average (Total): 10.44
Just to remind you all, this is Interim Placement Report , so you need to wait for the final stats. The figures so shared will for sure fluctuate based on the packages of left students. Also these details are based on the 75% batch so placed, the figures may fluctuate at the end.
Dear all, I must appreciate that you have utilized your freedom of speech to the fullest.. But then why use the official name of SIOM committee as pseudo for you ??. You have given some facts and with due respect to you let me give some facts and correct me if I am wrong!!
1) Discipline has been the utmost priority in SIOM (you know why discipline is the most important attribute for future leaders).Let it be classes (where maintaining 75 % attendance i.e. 15 out 20 classes per subject is not a big deal!!), night roll call punching (for your own safety) and coming back to campus before 10 PM in weekdays and before 11 PM in weekends (again for students safety) have been implemented. Late coming is permitted when required during Celebrations , festivities . I am sure you must have availed this privilege ! And this is no surprise to students admitted to SIOM as everyone signs an undertaking BEFORE admission confirmation. You & your parents must have done the same in agreement.
2) Now coming to fine and the detaining of students: Any kind of indiscipline has not been tolerated in SIOM. Fines have been imposed on those who are indulged in any sort of indiscipline activities and barring those few, remaining students have given hardly any fine. Let me give you some instances where fines have been imposed: without any major reason you come late to campus, you show inappropriate behavior to your fellow mate, you are doing something in the campus which is inappropriate etc. As far as detaining of students is concerned if without any genuine reason you have less than 75 % attendance in a particular subject, then a student has TNG /CNG. This is Symbiosis University rule equally applicable to all institutes. At SIOM we have disciplinary committee who look in to each such cases and take appropriate action. Nothing has been imposed directly on students without investigation.
3) Coming to faculties and classes SIOM has student faculty ratio of 15:1. With faculties having average industry exp of 4 years and teaching of 8 years. Please revisit your alma mater’s website link http://www.siom.in/core_faculty and check faculty profiles. As per UGC rule all faculties are postgraduates with NET/SET/PhD. Our statistics faculty is PGDM, FDPM and pursuing PhD under NITIE coguide in Financial econometrics. He engages classes at various other institutes too. Whether a faculty will leave the college, it is solely his/her decision and for him/her replacements have been done as well. But being a student you may not get your concept clarified by the faculty in class. In that case you can personally approach him/ her in his/ her cabin and gets your doubts clarified. Let me tell you, you are an adult and in MBA nobody will spoon feed you, the faculties can only facilitate you and it’s up to you how to move ahead!
4) Now placements: SIOM has been known for his placements in operations domain. This year also it has been very good. Yes some individuals are seeking for placements now and considering the companies lined up all students are expected to get placed. But, the sluggish scenario is observed throughout India (you can check with other colleges of similar tier!) due to certain reasons. I can’t write any number here like many fake accounts has written till the placement committee makes it available in website but only thing I can say the figures depicted all are exaggerated. We are shortly releasing CRISIL audited placement report for last year and an interim report for this year. Companies visit this campus because of its curriculum , academic enrichment that students get and students profile. Placements 15-17 are at the fag end. The unplaced students as of now have already got on an average 8 chances for interviews till date. And there are companies in line up still
5) Apart from these all activities are student driven in SIOM (you must have witnessed that last year during admissions process), faculties only guide you but students are given the opportunities to showcase their leadership capabilities.
6) Culture : Your comment on college being dominated by female management indicates your poor levels of understanding leadership. This is one thing SIOM can agree ; that it has failed to develop nobility in thoughts and respect for diversity in you. Overall, I can say you in every place there is always a scope of improvement and what is good for someone not necessarily that is good for you. SIOM provides you MBA in Operations Management (OM). So, look at yourself and check whether you want to do MBA in OM or not! If you have the relevant profile and you are ready to put rigorous effort for 2 years, then, I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t join.

ya'll won't see the real face of SIOM until you are a part of it. Enter at your own risk. (I wish someone gave me a warning before i came here, I wouldn't have entered this place.)
